You can use attrib to hide files

If your drive is d:

Open a command prompt and type

d: and press enter and type (to hide)
attrib + a + r + s + h------* /s /d

To view the content as usual
attrib - a - s-h-r-* /s /d

Is it possible to create a folder that can hide files automatically, when they are copied in it?

    Yes. A sort of roundabout.

For this example, create a folder on your C drive named HideTest.

Download http://winsupport.org/utilities/freedos-choice.html Choice.Exe (click on the link to download the utility program near the bottom of the page. "And save it in the C:\HideTest folder).

Open Notepad and then copy and paste the following text in it:

    Off @Echo

    : All
    Set FilesToHide = No.

    : GoToDir

    : Top
    IF FilesToHide %! Is Yes! Attrib *. * + H

    : Choice
Choice.Exe /c:YN t:Y, 30 are looking for files to hide
    If ErrorLevel 2 Goto: exit

    : MakeList
    Dir > TempList.Txt

    : CheckFiles
    Set FilesToHide = No.
    Find.Exe "0 file (s)' TempList.Txt
If ErrorLevel 1 Set FilesToHide = Yes
    If exist TempList.Txt Del TempList.Txt

    : Loop
    Goto: Top

    : Output
    Set FilesToHide =
    If exist TempList.Txt Del TempList.Txt

Click on file, then save under...

    Go to C:\HideTest

    Name the file Hide.Bat

    Click Save

    Close Notepad

    Open Windows Explorer

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Start where user_name is your own username.

In the right pane, right click, select New, and then click shortcut.

Click Browse, and then navigate to C:\HideTest and click on Hide.Bat, click Next.

Type a new name or accept the default name and click Finish.

Right-click on the newly created shortcut, and click Properties.

Change the race: from the normal window to reduced.

Click on apply, and then click Ok.

    Restart your computer.

Note: In the line above Choice.Exe c:YN t:Y, 30 are looking for files to hide, 30 is the number of seconds it will wait before checking the new files. This can be from 1 to 99.

Edit: Just to satisfy my curiosity, why do you do this?

  • Hide file types

Is there a way to have Vista hide all files of a certain type, instead of setting each individual file of this type of 'hidden '?

I use MS Word and do it by saving backups of all the Word files (like .wbk), but they clutter up my shirts. Can I set up Vista to automatically hide files. WBK on?

    >Can I put Vista to automatically hide files. WBK on?

No, Vista can't automactically hide files and folders.

    There is a "Workaround"...
Open a new file > put all the .wbk files in this folder.

  • How to hide files in the Local C drive?

I opened the local C drive and clicked on the file of Windows. I then clicked to view the files and now do not know how to hide them again!
Stupid probably and perhaps siple to sort - but I don't know how and I don't want to delete anything in the folder by mistake.

Open Windows Explorer. Click Tools > folder options > view > hidden files and folders.
It use option Show hidden files and folders.

    That s it!

  • In fact to prevent 'desktop.ini' be queued to copy on DVD; reject the option "hide files".

As has been frequently posted before on many sites around the internet, Windows 7 adds the file "desktop.ini" to the queue ready to burn to a CD or DVD. I want him to stop.

I don't want to not read even the slightest thing about "hide system files", which is a frequently repeated failure to resolve, i.e. a hack stinky. In addition, I will absolutely not to hide all files system anyway.

The file 'desktop.ini' listed on a data disc or video is clearly very bad behavior: some respondents stated that the "desktop.ini" file is not actually burned. I don't like: if it won't be burned, it should not appear in the queue, and its appearance is a mistake.

Others have mentioned that they always just remove it. Although "duh", so do I. But I do not want to remember, especially when preparing backup discs, which contain often very many files, where I could not notice or don't forget to look for.

So here's the deal: the answers I want are those who

    (1) involve waste clicks is more after completing a single time correction.

    (2) let me continue, in perpetutity contemplate all the files that are actually on my discs, hidden or not.

    (3) I don't see really each particular file that will be burned on ever CD and DVD that I prepare, and

    (4) the depricated "desktop.ini" file which is very well on all the folders on my hard drive is not present on my CD or DVD.

    Hi all

You must use o (probably OBEO also works) to change the access rights on folders. I did that on a workspace containing 3 folders, one of those who is visible to me. Which has been implemented on I think.

Right mouse click the folder 'Properties' and look in the tabs. I'm on Ubuntu now, so can't check...

I don't think it works on individual files

  • Timeline hide files?

I have a project that will be deployed on CD and online via a projector. I need to hide the entire project, so that the user does not see the magic that happens off stage when running in projector mode. I got my layers of chronology carefully packaged in folders, but I can't hide this way. Can I split each layer and stack them under the mask, but that leaves me feeling a bit "exposed" ;-). Is it possible to maintain the layer organization and always a mask for the scene when running in projector mode?

convert your mask into a movieclip and hide the main timeline with the help of actionsript.

in as2, which might look like:

  • How to hide the sidebar with other files of Notes?

    OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

I am trying to read a PDF Acrobat Pro and take notes with Notes in my mac, side by side.

I would like to know how to hide the sidebar on the left of Notes, where are the names of the other file.

I don't want the files, I already went to 'View' and you click "hide files".

I can just see the writing of the Notes area while sharing the screen with the document I read in Acrobat Pro.

Looks like a basic feature which Apple or Adobe Acrobat Pro should have, but I can't seem to find it.

Looked for other solutions to the App Store, but what I've found is a bit expensive.

    I appreciate any assistance.

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers community.

Forgive me if this is what you've already tried, but I want to just make sure that all these measures have been taken:

Click Start and then click my computer .

On the Tools menu, click Folder Options .

On the view tab, find Advanced settings , and then follow these steps:

Click Show hidden folders and files .

Clear the Hide protected operating system files check box.

Clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box.

Click OK , and then close the window.

If the method above doesn't work for you, you can run your virus scan.

Finally, some people have found a solution in this article:

  • Hidding images in the file browser

    Hi all.

My current Android app downloads a set of images from the internet and unzip about 300 images for internal use.

In my tests, I noticed that all those images are displayed in the file browser (images tab), making it very difficult to find a specific image to attach to an email (pending). Is it possible to prevent this?

I don't want to pollute the user experience, but these images are really necessary for my application. I saw a file browser which can hide files, and I think that it is related to the 1000_shared group, but I don't know how I could use it.

Any help will be really appreciated.

    Sincere greetings.

I finally found a working solution. Instead of recovering a public directory, using Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory (), I ask a storage private with Context.getFilesDir (), which returns a directory where the files are created with mode MODE_PRIVATE: "file creation mode: the default mode, where the created file is accessible only by the calling application (or all applications sharing the same user ID)". ""

The directory looks like in ' / data/data/package.name/files ' and is not accessible by other applications or the file browser as far as I KNOW.

  • How to hide my system files again?

Recently, I got rid of the virus "Repair Windows". In the process, the virus eventually hide all my files and I realized how to display following guides. I went in cmd Type attrib s h *. * /s /d or something to that effect and he brought back all my files, but computer system is also visible as desktop.ini files. I know that one of the two orders I've done done all files on my drive C visible, including system files, but my real question is, if I simply reverse orders (which I do not know how to do at the moment) which would also make my own cookies again? If this is the case then it is not an option and I would like to know how to hide the files where they cannot be tempered with accidentally or not. Should I just go to properties and to hide, and then select "Hide file types" in folder options, or is there a better way?

Windows has the ability to hide all system files, it's looking at the properties of each file to see if the checkbox 'hidden' or 'system' is defined.

The command you used all the flags hidden / system removed from all files on your entire hard drive.  There is no way to undo what you have (except the restoration of the system, if necessary).  The reverse of the order hiding everything, including your files.
The preferred method to hide or display files is to go to Folder Options and to "hide system files and hidden", but this is worthless today because you destroyed the game data is used by running this command.
If the system restore will not roll back to before running this command, you will need to manually enter each file and re - configure these options.

  • How can I prevent files are deleted from others?

I have a Mac computer that is used in public, but I'm trying to secure a file to prevent others to remove it. And, if possible, I don't want anyone to open the files. I looked online for solutions; I looked on that you are supposed to put a password on it with a .dmg file using disk utility. I don't want to create a .dmg file, I want the folder itself must be blocked because it is used by other applications. How can I do?

Hi, a useful recommendation is to make all of these invisible files, for that you will need to use the Terminal.

    Here are the instructions:

Launch Terminal from/applications/utilities/and use the following command syntax:

    chflags nohidden /path/to/hide/file.txt

If you know the path to the file just type yourself. If you do not, follow it drag & drop methodto automatically enter the full path in the Terminal, just be sure to file in after the original order and then press the return key:

    chflags hidden [DRAG FILE HERE]

This will hide your folders or files.

    To view these files do:

At any time you can view the file with the following chflags command:

    chflags nohidden /path/to/hide/file.txt

This means that after the stop at using the computer enter these commands on the terminal and hide them. The user after that you won't be able to see them (unless he knows how to view the files, but in this case, it must be specifically looking for your files). And when you return simply enter the command to the unhide them.

If there is a lot of files trying to group them all on a folder, and this folder hiding, which will automatically hide all content
