    Hello

I like the text-to-speech engine in Windows.  I want to have the computer voice on Star Trek to be my text-to-speech voice.  How can I do this?
It must be possible, but 2012 already.
Another way to ask, where is a large collection / selection / compilation of the text-to-speech voices I can install?  Created by Msft or 3rd party.
Windows 8 voices are not the answer, either.

    Hello

Microsoft does not speech engines provide additional (voice), but there are a number of third-party products that support the new Microsoft Speech API

Please use your favorite search engine and browse for voice of Star trek, which can be used for this purpose.

Note: Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be resolved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

  • Can I just install Microsoft text-to-speech voices?

I don't really need full language packs, I really care about is having the text-to-speech voices.  Is it possible to install just the voice of text-to-speech for different languages, or that is available in the language packs?

I installed two language packs successfully, Chinese and Korean, but since then, any other language module, I tried (Japanese, Spanish) fails to install.  Troubleshooting windows update tool did not work.  Clean boot has failed.  Delete the folder under SoftwareDistribution\downloads that contains the .cab has failed.  I'm not going to reinstall the operating system.  It's still a fairly recent installation (Windows 7 Pro upgrade).

Is there a limit to how many language packs, that I have installed in Windows 8 Pro?

    Thank you.

    -John

After getting the same error on 2 other machines of Windows 8, I tried upgrading to Windows 8. 1. I had once through a few problems doing this, install several language packs finally worked.  so my conclusion is that several language modules are broken for Windows 8 (more a number of updates), but that the problem has been resolved in windows 8.1.

(My first attempt to upgrade to windows hung 8.1.  After trying to clean boot and the Assistant to update and still not, I found the page I recommend stop transfer of update services and background, delete the contents of the Windows\SoftwareDistribution direcdtory, restart the stopped services, then try the update again.  After that I could start the update again and successfully complete.)

  • Text to speech: is it legal to use the output into something else that "for personal use?

I'm looking for some legal specific information about the licenses on the function 'Generate the word' hearing.

    Screen Shot 2016-05-06 at 3.05.31 PM.png

I found some info here: generate speeches | Adobe Audition but I'm not quite clear on what can or cannot be done. It States, in part:

"Your operating system has probably some voices already installed for you, which are usually for personal use only and is not allowed for use in commercial projects... »

    My question is 2 times:

    1. when he says "generally" is it legal (I suppose that Apple or shade) that can expand on this statement?

    2. by 'commercial' which covers the distribution (i.e., creating an MP3 of the voice of Samantha and sell) as well as the use in everything will be for sale or public consumption?  There is another line in the quoted doc which suggests to use to "interesting transitions and narration, or to be used in the design of the game."

The specific use case with which I am afraid would use a voice generated on a piece of hardware, which, at the start, would be to say 'Hello!' via an mp3 of the voice - it is not a product of speech synthesis.

    Thank you for your time!

When I was developing this feature (thanks to try), I found this question online: audio - are copyrighted by the text to speech voice Apple? - ask different

Which lead me to go to the license agreements of real software for OS X (Apple - legal - software). You'll probably want to go yourself, choose your version and the search for "voice". You will see a similar snippet of the thread above.  Since you're screenshot is on OS X and the voice you use is provided by the operating system, I think it would be the authority in this situation.  Hearing is simply to expose functionality in a practical way.

If you register a third-party voice (I think that we have links to some sellers on our help page), it should work in hearing. I know that I've tested several.  For this particular voice, you'll want to make sure you get a license for what is your destination.

  • Text-to-speech add distressed

I couldn't find any voice in my new version of Captivate (recently updated) except "microsoft Sam" I managed to find instructions on how to load add-ins in for other voices (2 files). However, having done this, I always just 'sam' in option. Someone else has encountered this and how to solve?

    Hi Janis,

Under "Add-ons\NeoSpeech Text To Speech voice" directory, there is an executable 'CpExtrasCLI.exe '. You run this file? If this is not the case, try running this file. After installation, it will show you dialogue "successfully installed NeoSpeech/Loquendo voice."

    Thank you

How can I turn off text to speech that I turned it on to listen to the voice and now there seems to be no way to turn it off

    Hello

Follow the steps below to disable text to speech in Windows Vista.

    (a) go to the section on your main screen where you see the time displayed.

    (b) it is called the "bar", all kinds of small icons are visible here, there's even a gadget of the small arrow that would normally point to the right if you have a lot of programmes to help you use windows.

    (c) "left click on"the small arrow in a circle - this will expand the list to display small icons, drip slowly mouse over the bar of 'system' in order to launch a pop - up of each icon, once you reach the icon that says something like "text to speech tool","make a clique right".

    (d) a pop-up list appears showing what options are available - option whatever go to "Properties" or "settings", "click on" this element gives.

    (e) a new Panel will appear - in select here the article that says something like "launch on startup", it should have a box next to it, that will be ticked or marked in some way - "click" this element so that it seems to be clear and followed by the button "apply" "click" the button "OK" - which should solve your problem.

  • Can I change voice after I created text-to-speech?

I am able to change the voice AFTER I already created the text-to-speech in slide Notes of Captivate 8?

    Thank you.

You can find this a bit tedious if you have generated voices for an entire course and the client decides they want another voice.

You can manage the voice through the window 'Management of the speeches', Cp8, click the Audio Menu and select the speech management.

Inside this window, there is a drop-down list titled 'Speech Agent.'

Make sure that you replace 'MIcrosoft Anna' voices TTS custom downloadable for Captivate.

  • Record French text to speech as a mp3 file

I need to save French speech synthesis in the form of MP3 file I save and reproduce on my iPad or iPhone. I know how to make an MP3 file as a track to iTunes from a text file on my MacBook Pro, but I don't have access to my iPhone and iPad now. I searched online and the App Store for solutions but did not get to what either. Make a record of my own voice with the voice recorder application does not have a track quite high quality.

Thanks for any help you can provide, pointing me apps or iPad features I have yet to discover.

I used the Voice Record Pro for these purposes with great success. Can export the soundtrack recorded in a variety of formats, including MP3.

  • The word text to speech recognition works not

    Hello

I installed a program called natural reader, which reads the text using different voices, so that you can hear what is on the page rather than just read it. I just bought the program and I can't get the voice to work. I contacted the company and they told me to go to the Control Panel/Speech Recognition and fix it on my computer because it is a computer problem.

So when I click on speech recognition, Text to Speech (I have Windows 8 is told by the way) - and I click on the button "Preview Voice", he does not play the text at all as it is supposed to do. If I click on the audio button, speech/headset is checked. But I see there are two points lower than who say THAT NVIDIA and both say they are "not connected." And when I click on the Advanced button, "use preferred audio output device" checked. And "DT speakers/headphones high definition" is the only thing available.

As I said, I don't know much at all about computers, but I'll add this part, just in case it might have something to do with it. I noticed that this red warning icon appears next to my videos and things like that in my files. Its something that was not there before. When I look in my windows applications he says only he X Box. I also noticed that when I open all my apps to show, little red X Box icon has one of my videos here instead of the app icon is red, which is weird, I think that? Sure on that note. In any case, I installed the windows classic interface, so I can't watch all softs tiles all the time on my desktop with windows 8 because I find boring. So I don't really know much about the apps anyway. But it's just that I did a complete system restore on my computer recently and that was not there before, at least, it was not associated with my videos. So I was wondering if this has nothing to do with the thing of the voice does not work in speech recognition? As I maybe the wrong thing associated with sound or something? I also noticed on my desk there is an icon called "Connected Music Powered by Universal Music Group" and when I clicked it, nothing happened.

    Can anyone help please?

    Thanks, Claudia

    Hi Claudia,.

It seems that the settings are correct in the text to speech Audio settings.  I understand that the speech/headset is checked (default device).  You can try to speakers as default device (green check mark on the speaker) and check if you are able to hear the text when you click voice overview through the PC speakers.

    See the article:
    Accessibility in Windows 8
    http://www.Microsoft.com/enable/products/Windows8/default.aspx

In addition, the red outline that you see when you click on applications, video files seems to be the Narrator running in background.

Turn off narrator and check the issue:
    Office, press Windows + U .
    Click Spie Narrator.
    Click Exit Narrator.

Let us know if it helps. If the problem persists, we will be happy to help you.

  • Selection of 64-bit Windows 7 text-to-speech: problems & Solutions possible

There are several problems with the default value of the TTS voice implementation in
    Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 64-bit edition.

Control Panel TTS voice option lists only properly registered
Voice of 64-bit. Microsoft Anna is the only 64-bit voice which is
provided with operating systems. Kate of Loquendo, which is
probably the best voice quality TTS that is currently available,
a versions 32 and 64 bit. Kate is difficult to obtain in small
quantities and very expensive. The best alternative is
considered Heath voice Acapela Group. It is only
currently available as a 32-bit version for Windows operation
systems. (64-bit Heather is available for Apple Snow Leopard).

There is a fix that allows the display of all installed voices and
the selection of any one as the default voice of the system. It's
    run:

    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Speech\SpeechUX\sapi.cpl

instead of using the selection of voices TTS of Control Panel.
This fix works fine except for one unfortunate problem.

    The statement of Visual C/C++

    HR = m_cpVoice.CoCreateInstance (CLSID_SpVoice);

Configures a voice object regardless of the default value correctly
    Voice System.

    The Visual Basic statement

    Voice = new SpeechLib.SpVoice

causes a system crash or a program abort if the defect has voice
summer set on something else than a properly registered 64 voices
as Anna. 'Try Catch' is not catch this error. Note that
Set the voice = CreateObject ("SAPI. SpVoice") fails with the same
    error.

There is no easy solution to this problem. It may, however, be lower
64-bit TTS voice concern as more become available.

First of all, Microsoft should certainly change the TTS box command
to use the same code as "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Speech\SpeechUX\sapi.cpl".

Second, Microsoft should correct the problem with the way in which
The statement Visual Basic 'voice = New SpeechLib.SpVoice' functions.
There is no reason that this cannot have the same capacity as its
    Visual C/C++ counterpart.

Third, the application programs that use TTS could be written entirely
in Visual C/C++, the creation of the object of the voice could be in one
Control ActiveX Visual C or a wrapper might be used to access
    CoCreateInstance.

Fourth, it is possible to modify the voice so registry entries
that the ILO 32 voices work with control panel TTS list. It's
easy to change the registry so that the voices are displayed. He
is, however, a consistent error message on failure of the audio
output. TTS registry entries are generally well documented.
Unfortunately, there are multiple entries for which there no publicly
documentation available. This in addition to a lack of technical assistance from the
either third party sellers of TTS or Microsoft voices makes
Cannot resolve the registry at this time entry.
These registry problems are not a problem when you use
    'C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Speech\SpeechUX\sapi.cpl '.

Fifth, one of the major reasons to be able to change the system
by default the voice TTS is to offer a choice to vote for programs
as MapPoint that automatically select the default value of the voice system.
There is no choice to the user to change the voice of MapPoint.
He has a key to register MapPoint
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MapPoint\17.0\USA\PreferredTTSEngine
It seems as if the TTS voice can be selected. Unfortunately, he
There is no documentation for this entry and change the name of voice is not
override the default value of the voice system.

Sixthly, the registry entries could be changed by program as well
the default voice to meet the requirements of
'Voice = New SpeechLib.SpVoice' only for this one statement. The
original Scriptures are then replaced before further use of the
    The object of the voice.
It's far from perfect, but we chose this approach as the
best current compromise for our programming environment. One
unfortunate limitation is that Windows 7 64-bit and Windows Server
2008 R2 use different paths of directory registry TTS and values for
    DefaultTokenId.
By the way, is an invaluable tool for working with the registry
Workshop to register for X 64. It can do copy/paste and more
    several other useful registry operations.

The following code snippet illustrates the method.

I used System.Speech with c# and .NET version 2 (visual studio 2005 - windows forms project) and the same problem occurred with me.

The solution was change the given target, from "Any CPU" to "X 86". (Project-> properties-> Build).
Works like a charm too :)
  • How can I create a text-to-speech .wav file?

I would like to create wave files using the text-to-speech feature in Windows or by using another method.  Is it possible to do this on Windows?  If this isn't the case, anyone know if there is a freeware/shareware that would work?

I realize a logical solution is to record the voice - but I'm not looking for this option.
    Thanks to all the advice...

Years ago some of my SB software had a lab and 1 option audio program that was in there was the option "Record what you hear" that allowed me to save all who played through my sound card on my speakers no matter what the source. I am sure that there must be still of programs with options like that out there, try to go on your favorite leading software download site and search for such a program.

  • Text-to-speech must be used in moderation?

Due to problems of size of final publication for Adobe Captivate files, text-to-speech use sparingly?

I used narrative extensively in my drawings of e-learning for years. I usually keep my free quiz questions of narrative, but about all the other slides in my classes include.

It has been my experience that other media such as videos or a too high resolution images, are what usually slows down a course. Of course the new Captivate 9.0.2 must solve some of these issues with the effectiveness of improved performance.

  • Text-to-speech software

What third-party software speech synthesis for Windows (beside NeoSpeech and Microsoft Anna) is compatible with Captivate 9?

    By this article:

Text to speech in Captivate 8 | e Learning, Chief

    "SAPI 5"compatible text-to-speech should work."

I tried a few accounts of the trial with various suppliers a few months ago and could not get additional voices to poster in my CP9 list, at all, nothing... but I wasn't CereProc (by article)... so there is always this possibility.
