High utilization of the processor problem Windows Update

I still have a recurring problem. CPU runs at about 50%, until I have disable microsoft update, when it goes back to normal, I had this happens twice before, and in both cases it was provisionally fixed by downloading and installing an update from Microsoft. Is there something like this circulating again? Perhaps by coincidence, he started to act up on Patch Tuesday. Is anyone else out there of similar problems? The last two times a LOT of people have had this problem.

We have identified KB3161664 as the day of this hotfix update must be installed in advance. Download links here:

I worked with computers for my whole life.  I'm 7 courses away from completing my bachelor's degree in ITM to include coming soon obtaining of Certifications.  This problem, on one of the computers in my own office, cause me endless frustrations as well as the fact that me, unable to find and implement a solution helps me feel completely incompetent.  Me reaching out to everyone here is a terrible blow for I feel on my own knowledge base because it seems as if the fix can be easy, and I feel as if I am missing something obvious.  That being said here is the issue I am running in:

On my Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit, I have no intention of upgrading for various reasons, I notice that my CPU usage and the physical memory usage vary from 60% to almost 100% when I run no applications, which is a more recent symptom and severely hampers my system.  After having reduced the problem of the use to only one of the "svchost.exe" process and the "wuauserv" Service within this process labeled as Windows Update, I confirmed that it was this Service initially at least the question of the use of the CPU by arresting him, I went ahead and ran a manual update of Windows only to find out he's looking for new updates constantly.  The ever green status bar stops moving, or it never gets past that point.  First of all, I advanced and erased the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder, after you stop the Services, than to have the same problem.  I have never received any type of error on the part of Windows Update code he has yet to reach a point of not not looking for updates.  I also have the chance to try to remove some updates recently installed in an effort to clear all possible corrupt files so that they can be reinstalled to no effect.  The same problem persists.  I am confident, it is a problem of Windows Update and also confident, it's a registry problem, but I struggle to trust one of the edition of solutions that I met in my quest for answers to the registry.  Also, I noticed that after having messed around with patches previously indicated, that my Documents Word from Microsoft do not open when I double-click on it, however, I am still able to open Word and open an existing document to the program itself.  This is a very new symptom, and I'm not sure if it's related.  It is my hope that a new installation of Windows won't be necessary.

Please let me know diagnostic programs I might need to run to narrow down the issue.  Thanks in advance for all the help I can get on this.

    Hi Llysanth:

If your initial "check for updates..." Windows Update crashes during long periods without raising an error, this is a widespread problem currently affecting many SP2 of Vista and Win 7 SP1 users.  On my Vista 32 bit system, I see a constant consumption of ~ 50% of my CPU by Windows Update (wuauserv) service which runs under the svchost.exe process (i.e., the saturation full of one of my two hearts) during thecheck for updates...'and Sysinternals Process Explorer shows that the Windows Update Agent (c:\windows\system32\wuaueng.dll) consumes all CPU - to see my images in Kayla77 thread processes in the Manager during updates tasks to day in the VistaForums.

Some users find 'verification of the updates... ' will be held eventually in the end if you let it run for several hours, but there is also a workaround solution posted on the page Web of Dalai to http://wu.krelay.de/en/ that accelerates the Windows Update for the affected users. Of workaround requires users to install the updated Windows kernel mode driver (Win32K.sys) listed on this webpage so one is missing from your system before running Windows Update.  I used Dalai for the latest Patch workaround three Tuesdays (the second Tuesday of each month) and has reduced my search for 'check for updates...' updates available for 6 or 7 hours up to approx. 25 min.

The step by step instructions Posted June 16, 2016 wire m #l's updates works do not, he has been looking for updates to the hours are based on workaround of Dalai and will guide you through the installation process of packages update stand-alone (.msu files) for your updates Win32K.sys missing.

As of today page is Web (August 31, 2016) the current list of updates Win32K.sys on Dalai: KB3078601 (rel. 18 August 2015); KB3109094 (rel. 7 December 2015); KB3145739 (rel. 12 April 2016); KB3164033 (rel. June 14, 2016); KB3168965 (rel. July 12, 2016); KB3177725 (rel. 9 August 2016). Just install updates are missing from your system, so if you have been fully patched at the end of July 2016 you need to manually install the latest KB3177725 (MS16-098: a security update for the Windows Kernel-Mode drivers: 9 August 2016) before you run Windows Update to install your remaining August 2016 Patch Tuesday updates.

Dalai has posted General information that explains why the Windows Update Agent is currently suspended during the "checking for updates..." Windows Update.

Hi Vishal, zig - zag is right with the WPT toolkit, however if you are not experienced with the resolution of the problems, you might want to first try a few simple tools:

    1. use the built in Windows tool "Resource monitor" to check the process/applications that use resources on your system - it shows more detail than the single task manager.

    2. Sysinternals provides a powerful set of tools, the first to try is "Process Explorer": https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653

  • Leaks memory satellite L655 - 14 d, high utilization of the processor after Win 10 updated

    Hello world

    recently, I updated my Toshiba L655 - 14 d running on win7 Home premium 64-bit to win 10.

After that update system is memory leaks, high utilization of the processor and get stuck every 5 to 10 seconds, is a rhythmic problem happens while Starter upward.

If music is played nothing breaks and distortion, while using word or another office associated SW it became marked delay in the characters that appear on the screen, using the internet or live streaming is also not smooth.

Any suggestions to solve these problems?

It is advisable to change the RAM and upgrade to the new HARD drive (current RAM is 3GB 1066 MHz and is disc HARD 500 GB, ATI Radeon graphics card), if the change has advised if I want on the RAM even or I can go for a more of the same for the HARD drive also.

    Thanks in advance.

You may need to check if the problem could be related to some drivers installed (maybe GPU driver would need an update) or 3rd party software.
Background running processes in the context of the system could block the CPU, and this could slow down the performance of the system...
So a quick glance in the task manager can be useful.

Of course, upgrade of RAM can be useful too... If you run Win 64 bit system, upgrade of RAM is recommended.
The 32-bit OS can handle only 3.2 GB RAM... so in this case the RAM upgrade would be useless.

With regard to upgrading the HARD drive:
The SATA controller is able to manage any size of HARD drive, but to be honest, this will not increase the performance of the laptop... But change from HDD to SSD drive would increase the performance of the system... so I recommend you replace the HARD drive with SSD drive.

  • In obtaining Windows XP SP3 notice of high utilization of the processor, but do not know the cause

I keep having problems with high CPU usage, but I don't know what is the cause. I know Norton has sent me a few messages on dumprep.exe high utilization of the processor, but this isn't the only time where she do this and it is causing my computer runs slowly, and a few times the last 2 days that makes my strongest computer. I hope someone can help because I don't know anything about all this

    Hi SandieLaster,

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. When was the last time it was working fine?
    3. When the high CPU usage occurs?

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

While we are aware of the problem, there is little we can do about it.  The modern realities of security of the web browsers have made sandbox, a necessity.

There is a good explanation of what is happening here: http://blogs.adobe.com/asset/2012/06/inside-flash-player-protected-mode-for-firefox.html

Long story short, every video packet must be transmitted from the browser to a medium integrity process broker, then the integrity process low drive flash for rendering.  If an attacker is able to hijack the thread of Flash Player, the process is low integrity, which prevents the attacker to do a lot with it.  While it is not an absolute guarantee (nothing security is), it raises the bar significantly for the attackers.

The downside is that all this additional message passing consumes cycles CPU, especially if you are trying to fill a buffer of exceptional size as soon as possible.  There's not a lot of opportunity to optimize this.

If you're fine with the risk, you can manually disable ProtectedMode on your machine.  If you deal only with trusted sites, and you do not have anything critical with the machine (work, banking, etc.), then it is probably not a huge deal.

Finally, ProtectedMode is like a vaccine - it's one thing to immunity.  If the majority of people run it, exploits targeting machines without that it does not conform and probably not merit to be pursued when you look at the effort involved in the development of a feat of end-to-end.  If a large number of people turn it off, it becomes economically attractive for builders of networks of zombie computers, and you will have problems if you do not use.

To disable the Protected Mode, add the following line to your mms.cfg file located in:

    32-bit Windows: C:\windows\system32\macromed\flash

    64-bit Windows: C:\windows\syswow64\macromed\flash

    ProtectedMode=0

If the mms.cfg file does not exist, create one to any text editor standard (p. ex. Notepad)

Depending on your operating system, you must first save the mms.cfg file in a directory writable (for example, your document or desktop folder), and then copy the file into the folder using Windows Explorer.

To re - enable Protected Mode, simply delete the line in the mms.cfg file.

  • MacBook Pro random high utilization of the processor (iCoreService/DCAManager using + 400% CPU?)

    Hello

I'm running an Early 2011 Macbook Pro running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 with a 2.2 GHZ Quad Core i7 processor 1 TB Samsung 840 EVO SSD and 16 GB of RAM Crucial. I noticed for about a month, I'm going to do a simple task or two on my Mac, then all of a sudden I noticed spikes CPU temporary, 90 + degrees C and the kick of fans trying to cool high speed. Well, I don't know why this is happening when I do nothing to justify a high utilization of the processor. I'm used to the CPU running hot when I do something intensive graphic as running Autodesk Inventor CAD software, run a machine virtual or even watch a 1080 p @ 60 fps video on youtube (it is the lowest resolution that requires the Mac switch to the dedicated AMD Radeon 6750 M GPU that usually eventually warm it quickly) , but this use high random that happens when I have Mail open in the background, and one tab open with a 720 p @ 30 fps video Youtube open (or even less). I took a few screenshots of the activity Manager indicating the best processes and Intel Power Gadget indicating the temperature of the CPU:

Does anyone know what are iCoreService and/or DCAManager and why they use so much of my CPU when this happens? And someone has encountered this weird behavior before? Thanks in advance!

The most likely cause is an applicztion you have running that is corrupt and forcing them to use the CPU too. Were you able to kill the process in activity monitor? If you have not yet tried to do, so I'll try that first. I would also try to quit all open applications.

If you start the computer in Safe Mode , you can test if the problem is still there. If it isn't, usually means something that is managed by you start-up or an application that you use may be the cause.

  • high utilization of the processor in standby mode / x 230

    Hi all

I have an i5 x 230, win8 installed pro on an ssd crucial msata m4, 16 GB of ram. Recently, I noticed a sharp decline in the life of the battery. I believe that this is due to the high utilization of the processor when idle, I see it in the Manager of tasks and shows the process system hovering over 30% cpu usage. It goes down when I restart, but just on the rise after some time, perhaps on his return from his sleep.

Does anyone have any idea on this? I tried to get a little knowledge base, but nothing came.

I'm looking for a way to * find the battery life... *.

For some time, the * TASKHOST. EXE *, "host process for Win tasks" (pl.: "trial dla zada hosta?) systemu Windows") * runs all the time, consumes about 30% of the CPU. It works even without any program began.

    Results:
    (1) * autonomy is much shorter *, about 5 hours from 10 hours earlier.
    (2) * the cooler fan is on a higher speed all the time * (previously - only occasionally switch on).
    (3) * around CPU is hot all the time * (see: cooler fan)-previously it used to heat only during "heavy" tasks (e.g. image processing).

  • Many addons crashes and high utilization of the processor/RAM (/ questions/976131)

I have a question which has been which is rampant in me up to now for a month in Firefox; Once Firefox has been used for quite some time (open for several days with hundreds of pages throughout these days are opened and closed) it never frees the RAM he used, I've seen it go from being initially about 400 MB initially in the first 30 minutes of opening and then, after an hour, it goes to about 600 to 900 MB , the number is somewhat normal for me, I guess that (in the days of use of Firefox 4 id get that using a lot on my old netbook) and then he goes to the point of madness at random and uses a set of 2 GB and once the fact that its almost unusably slow and sometimes must be killed with the system task manager.

This is not normal. Especially because it happens when I have nothing but the home page of Firefox open and everything remains closed. Its as if all of the content of the pages ive visited gets hoarded by Firefox to over the years and it never came out, its almost as if Firefox is like how Windows 98 was if you kept running for days without arresting him.

Ive had virtually quite an effort to remedy this situation suggested by the kind of useful people in the linked thread.

    • Ive disabled all addons that I don't need
    • Ive got rid of addons I need not
    • Ive started a new Firefox profile and use nothing else than the addons that I need for my navigation from day to day (so nothing else beyond what I need is active or in Firefox in the first place)
    • Ive updated flash player and most other firefox plugins lists
    • Ive updated all the drivers for my computer and Windows Update updates
    • Ive deleted the cache and cookies and persistent data several times to try and empty used Firefox RAM
    • Ive used about: memory option "reduce the memory usage" to clear the RAM of Firefox but it did nothing, if anything sometimes he did go up a few megabytes or two
    • As suggested, I disabled 3 addons 'jetpack' I needed because they were supposed to be the cause of this
    • Ive enabled addons one by one to see which is the problem, whenever I did that when I found the culprit and disabled the addon that I thought was the fault of the problem does not return that in a matter of time taking all this effort go down the drain
    • Doing a crapton of virus analyses
    • Ive read most of the articles of Firefox Help on fixing it, ive done all
    • A portable installation of Firefox runs just perfect, and even a new fresh profile without a single addon is perfect, its when I need addons, problems arise.
    • I ran show memtest, memtest86 and even the memtest that comes with Windows, that nothing is wrong with my machine

Since I created a new profile my previous problem in the context menu of Firefox as slow as molasses is gone, but the rest focuses on yet (although less I admit).

IM left so far with two apparently related in forefox problems, in short: use the Firefox RAM random remains very high even if there is nothing else that a tab open, heck he couldn't be that the homepage of Firefox open and itd still make even if I leave it like that for hours without touching it. Here is an example of earlier today https://app.box.com/s/sc7xpmsjnmf18q3rx12t

And this is after I've used about: memory reduce memory usage command https://app.box.com/s/whbay8b4l2z89grdphzd

And if Firefox is no not that I get from time to time the other problem with the CPU usage with a tip that freezes Firefox for a while, when it does the Task Manager window lists Firefox to use about 10% CPU usage, which is a lot considering the use of Firefox I've ever seen by more than 5% at worst before. It sometimes even simply stays like this during his inactivity by using this number of CPU. I don't have a screenshot right now Firefox home since its not to do, but here's a screenshot of another process, do http://vvcap.net/db/aSXmdVEsoZ-9tQj4TnH6.htp

At this point, I don't know what to do anymore to be honest, I love Firefox and its addons, its what makes it unique, without them I can not navigate, I might as well use IE (ew). Part of the reason why I got a beefy computer was so that I could use Firefox instead of the opera without having to worry about its use of infamous memory (at the time I remember it being a memory hog it was at the time of Firefox 4-14, after I used Firefox 21 things improved considerably since) Ive come down to using anything else than what I need ONLY for daily browsing in the new profile and kept all other addons of Firefox usage only use inside a virtual machine (VMWare to be preice). But the problem still persists. I'm sorry it's long, but I want to just be detailed as possible so that this problem can be solved

Finally, my profile; as I have no idea if the troubleshooting attached or not contains.

  • High utilization of the processor in the system of the NT kernel.

It happens especially when a kind audio this is, for example. YouTube, teamspeak, WMP etc. Started happening last week, had no problem before. Could be a sound driver, but I can't really put my finger on the exact offender.

I played around with xperf, but can't really move with this anymore. Any ideas?
When I open the regular use of the processor, I get this. These fields are 9 all the way to line 39000

Resolved by reinstalling and uninstalling SoundTap recorder without having to reboot the PC, then cleaning the registry of all that was left after uninstalling.

The program is not completely compatible with WinVista and replaces the audio driver with his own. This causes high CPU usage when it comes to audio.
So, anyone with Windows Vista, do NOT use this software. It will be you live above.
  • PLS HELP blackBerry smartphones! High utilization of the processor to 100% (v6.0 Bundle 3049) because of the net.rim.io.impl module

(my 3rd attempt to get support on this critical issue)

    .

    Hello

    .

I have improved my Torch (9800) a week ago and have been noticiing serious battery drain issues.  The problem is VERY persistentand happens most of the time.  I am currently on OS v6.0 bundle 3049 (v6.0.0.706, Devils, 6.6.0.246).  My Wifi and Bluetooth are always TURNED off.  Only by using the Bell service provider network, for which I have all 5 bars available.

    .

I investigated further and found that the Blackberry system software was running with more than the processor - especially in the high 90s.  And this corresponded over the hours until the battery was dead.  I have since deleted all the apps I have suspecpected - such as the Office of Nice and LinkedIn.  But the problem persists.

    .

I also close all antennas - mobile network incl., and there is no change after 15-20 minutes.

    .

Battery pull was made several times, as I checked and there are no new updates of OS.

    .

Now, currently, only the Basic apps are loaded (Alt-Back): home, BBM, phone, Messages, Borwser.  All other applications are closed or exit.  The only antenna work is for the Bell network.

    .

Further study in the modules of the system software of BB, I found that the net_rim_io_impl, is her consuming ALL the CPU.  I don't know where/what this module does - so I'm not clear on this service within the BB I can disable (OFF) to get rid of the issue.  Or soft. I can remove it to clear the issue.

    .

Please see the following screenshots, the CPU for the system a little, drops as Options use a part, otherwise it goes back 90 years, if left alone: -.

And in the system software of BB: -.

    .

Please help and guide, with either a fix to the module, or via a workaround solution, in which some service can be stopped or a setting can be changed to avoid this battery drain.  This is my 3rd attempt to request for help - so far that anything is coming - not even an acknowledgment that there is a problem, or how I can get help.  I'm still in the warranty period of 12 months.

  • High utilization of the processor in Mode VSS when traffic through the internet.

    Hi all

I have a problem with the installation of VSS. The VSS service install act as a central office switch of transit for internet traffic and the problem arises when there are about 600 Mbps of traffic through the switch. We notice that there are a lot of packages being softswitch and the rate is quite high, almost like 100 to 200 k per second.

The VSS switch manages ospf and BGP and have plenty of internet routing. After investigation of high CPU usage, I noticed that the AAGR switch is full and has tried to set the course of max mls to the maximum cef and restarted the VSS service.

Unfortunately, the problem persists after restarting.

We had planned to filter the full internet routes and enable by default and ospf route only in the VSS service and restart the VSS service to make sure that the table AAGR is not overloaded.

If I fail the next step is to return to autonomous mode and hope that the processor will not pull up.

My Question: These step will prevent the issue? Suggestions or the reference similar to the problem I am facing in?

    Hello Sophie,.

unless you have a PFC 3CXL and all the DFCs the AAGR 3CXL can manage only 256 000 IP prefixes and nowdays that complete a table is in order or 310-320 000 routes.

See table 1 in the second link it tells what I wrote in the first line.

    > We planned to filter the full internet routes and enable by default and ospf route only in the VSS service and restart the VSS service to make sure that the table AAGR is not overloaded.

You should not need the device after accepting only the default route in OSPF or BGP AAGR use will be greatly reduced this is just wait a few minutes (unless there is an underlying SW bug) for the MSFC to update CFP and then all DFCs

    Hope to help
