historical files won't accept the removable storage like SD card

Hello

not until I got my Tablet Surface Pro, I discovered that I am not able to ADD a SD memory card to the library, then having these backup files upwards through the history of the files.

Historical files only accepts items (drives/folders) that are included in the library, correct?

SD cards and other (disks) removable storage cannot be included in a library, correct?

It could have been no problem in the past, but with computers as a shelf where you add storage capacity by inserting an SD card, it would be wise to look at it as a real player and allow removable storage appear in the library, right? I mean the USB portable drives are not really different and they can be added to a library.

Does anyone know a 'trick' to be a part of removable storage library?

Thank you

Frank

I managed to get the history file to my SD card backup in any first format in NTFS then authenticated users permissions.

Click right on NTFS formatted the SD card and select Properties then the tab Security , under group or user name , click the button Edit then Add , and enter the user authenticated followed check names, OK etc.

Then create a folder, such as SD-Documents and then right-click on that folder and select include in library > Documents or library what ever you want added to folder.

Works on my device Windows RT as well as my PC 13 of Yoga.

I was getting ready to plan and attempt a clean full backup for tonight.  I have the backups created on several entities, currently backup but have a very stable system at the moment and wanted to try to make a clean backup file.  That day has finally arrived after been forced a corrupted system files hard drive failure "repair" critical and forced me to go back to SP1a (my Windows Genuine valid CD which I highly appreciate) in order to obtain any boot system, including safe mode and console mode.  Repair has presented many incompatibilities at the level of program and system, including the basic WMI and COM of the corruption system.  Three months later... it of time to update my backups and recovery procedures and hope that this does not happen!

In preparation, I decided to refresh my memory on the use of the backup and by browsing the Help and Support Service Center files.  One of the first things I noticed was "storage removable service must be started for the backup works correctly."  Audit and inspection of my existing Services using computer (Local) management, I have observed that after a normal windows startup, the removable storage service is not started with manual startup type.  I use a USB drive connected as my backup media, and it is fully operational as a normally formatted NTFS data disk volume.  I have windows indexing disabled on this volume.  Is the type of service required removable storage of normal manual started?  The backup program will automatically start this service?  I know I've never manually started it myself and backups seem to work well.  Should we change the startup type to automatic?

I would like to leave as a textbook.

The Service will start (if capable) as soon as ntbackup.exe begins.

If you want to see, with your Services window related to the function of RS place and it will not work and the manual.

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Ntbackup.exe

Click OK to start the backup and the Restore Wizard.

Go back to your Services window and press F5 to refresh and SR Service should now work.

When you exit the backup and the Restore Wizard, the RS Service stops (it may take a few minutes), and you may need to close the Services applet and reopen it to notice she's moved to manual and not running.

  • Windows Vista does not recognize the removable storage device

    ISSUE INITIAL 2010-03-03)
    Here's the scenario:
    1. Insert the card compact flash.
2 computer recognizes the removable storage (that is, it is assigned a drive letter and appears in disk management).
    3. use the icon remove the device safely in the taskbar to stop the machine to remove safely.

    5. Insert the compact flash card.
    6. the computer does not recognize removable storage (that is, it is not assigned a drive letter and does not appear in disk management).

    UPDATE (04/03/2010):
I have more information, I hope this helps to reach a solution.

-J' repeated the steps above 1 to 3, with open Device Manager.  In step 3, in the Device Manager window, the icon for the question USB mass storage device becomes the exclamation point in yellow triangle icon.  Check its properties on the tab "General", in the "Device status" box, it says: "Windows cannot use this hardware device because it has been established for"safe removal", but it has not been removed from the computer. (Code 47)  IX this problem, disconnect the device from your computer and then reconnect it.  Click on 'Search for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available. »
-J' then removed the card and rest of the error state.
-J' I re inserted the card, and rest of the error state.
-J' I then tried to update the driver by accessing the tab "driver", click on "Update driver", click on "Automatically search for an updated driver", and the result was "the best driver for your device is already installed."

I found the solution on this hp web page:

  • Flight Simulator FS9.cfg file does not accept the changes

I am running Msft FltSim2004 under Windows 7 Professional. I had to make additions to the FS9.cfg file (it takes changes in txt in Notepad). It is a hidden file located in C:\Users\{my name} \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FS9. After that I have to make the changes and close the file, and restart FltSim, I still get the error that the change was supposed to eliminate FltSim. When I check FS9.cfg, the change I've made is no longer there.

I changed all the c:\ folder permissions down to FS9, as well as the permissions in the FS9.cfg file. But it still does not accept the changes. Everything else works fine under Win7. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Art,
Try to copy the file to your desktop (or another folder), and then delete one located in the FS9 folder.  Make the changes to the copied file and simply save it to the new location.  Reopen the case to check the changes remained, and then copy it in the FS9 folder and test.  Let us know the results.

  • Problem with the Removable Storage Service and Microsoft Fix it 50198

    Thank you for your response.

I'm working on it, I think I found my problem.  These computers are part of an area in which I do not.  They will be removed from the field in a few weeks as they are separate from this company.  The area has some group policy settings that limit to me logged on as a local administrator.  I think I'll have to wait until computers were removed from the field to solve this problem.

  • SanDisk Cruzer power 32 GB USB recognized as a hard drive instead of the removable storage driver.

Hi, my sandisk Cruzer power 32 GB USB key is recognized as hard disk, which appears in the section hard drives instead of the section of removable storage. I would like to know how to solve this problem. I want to create bootable USB driver.pls. ~

    I use the 32-bit Windows 7.

There is no solution, it is what it is.  However we should not prevent you to make bootable.  Search here and on Google for RMPrepUSB.  It is a utility that can make the bootable disc.

  • Historical files does not recognize the external hard drive

Original title: the best backup software in addition to the history of files on Windows 8?

I have a Seagate Free Agent external drive which works fine and I can transfer stuff to him without error, but when I try to use it as my backup for Windows 8 file story... drive it is not recognized. I tried to format it and stuff, but no luck. What backup software I should try instead?

There are a lot of choices.  You could 'rolling' and just create a scheduled task to run the xcopy command, and copy your files changed, replacing the old backups. However, it's messy.  File history gives historic change-of-change of version of the files in place.

You can also use a tool like SyncToy to accomplish the same thing as xcopy, but retains the same limitations (no version control).

I personally just store all my files in OneDrive.  Then they are local on my C: drive, more in the cloud, the more on my other computer, as in my automated backups my external hard drives. I am therefore quite redundant in my backups, even if OneDrive se is not intended as a backup service (but there is no version history / modified files).

Given the predominance of backup as Carbonite and Norton backup services (best practices than those who are 'off-site' and in the cloud, and so they are safer than local backups), I prefer to recommend these first.  But I'm sure that some other users of the forum have some ideas of good backup software too.

  • Where the control to show/hide the removable storage settings

I try to install Win 8 Prof.  I have a HP desktop with a CD player and 4 slots for removable media devices.

To make the recordable form in Reader for more than 500 people requires a very expensive service that can cost about $10K per form. Most agencies have not that kind of budget for this sort of thing.

  • The TYPE of CFINPUT DATEFIELD = won't accept the date from the data base

I had a weird problem which I think may be just a way to explain to the server how to interpret value. I use ColdFusion 8 with SQL SERVER 2005 Express. In my table, the field is a DATETIME field and the date with time (eg. 2007-07-23 00:00:00).

In my form, when I added using the DATEFIELD as the CFINPUT type, it records the date correctly. But when I use the EDIT.cfm form and try to put the value of the database in the CFINPUT DATEFIELD, the server generates an error. Here is the error:

2007-07-23 00:00:00 / 0 is an invalid date or time string.

Of course, I tried many things but I tried to force the date with DATEFORMAT format (qGetNewsInfos.dtIssued, "mm/dd/yyyy '") and many other format but without success.

Is he knows how to use a date in the case of a < CFINPUT TYPE = DATEFIELD >?

    Try dateformat yyyy-mm-dd.
