HIT for RHEL 7

When support for RHEL based 7 facilities? We prepare for you present to a RHEL 7 from datacenter and we can't seem to find a HIT for Equallogic

So, ONCE in 2015, is basically what you're saying.

Wow this is a very tight timetable for a company of $60 US per year.

Its been over a year since the last version of Linux has HIT (April 2014) and in terms of support of RHEL7:

«Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 (Maipo) is based on Fedora 19, upstream Linux kernel 3.10, systemd 208 and GNOME 3.8.» The first beta was announced December 11, 2013, and a release candidate first aired April 15, 2014. On June 10, 2014 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 was officially released. »

Rhel7 has been officially available for more than a year, none supported yet of Dell.  I hope that Dell realizes that is telling its Linux customers to shop elsewhere.

It seems that we should not expect too much from the reliability of this information, most of the time they are simply not true.

    Hello

With Linux, as any OS, iSCSI is not different from the SAS/SATA or Fibre Channel.  No matter how you are connected to a "disk", it looks like a SCSI to the OS disk.

So yes, you use the mount points.   That's how Linux as most UNIX operating systems do it.  But use any method supported for other iSCSI disks.   In Windows, you can use drive letters or mount points.

  • Suppot for RHEL 7?

I've got VMWare 6.0.3 Player installed on a Windows 7 64-bit system.  I tried to create a virtual machine using RHEL 7 64 - bit ISO, but it says it cannot detect the guest operating system, and when I try to specify, RHEL 7 does not appear in the list.  I selected RHEL 6 and tried to pass, hoping that he would get the info she needed the ISO, but when I tried to run I get the following error

This virtual machine is configured for 64-bit operating systems. However, the 64-bit mode is not possible.

This host supports Intel VT - x, but Intel VT - x is disabled.

Intel VT - x can be disabled if it has been disabled in the BIOS/firmware settings or host was not powered by bicycle since changing this setting.

    (1) check that the settings BIOS/firmware activate Intel VT - x and disable "trust execution."

2 turn on the host if either of these BIOS/firmware settings have been changed.

    (3) turn on the host if you have not done since the installation of VMware Player.

    (4) update of the BIOS/firmware from the host to the latest version.

For more information, see http://VMware.com/info?id=152 .

I do something wrong or is RHEL 7 simply not taken in charge the player yet?  I got RHEL 6 running for at least a couple of years now, so I thought that RHEL 7 would not be a problem.  I can do, or should I just wait for a future version?

7 RHEL is supported and that is not the issue... the issue is explained in the message you received and you have not done something to address the message.   You must enable VT - x in the BIOS you want to run a 64-bit guest OS!

  • EqualLogic HIT for VMware

We just purchased a 6100 Equallogic - I was installing the virtual appliance HIT the vCenter plugin - I see that it must have a network connection on the network iSCSI in addition to the management network.

Can I just add a machine virtual port group port to my virtual switch of the existing iSCSI network so I can then add a second network adapter on the virtual computer?

Will there be an impact on performance on iSCSI connections if I do this?

    Thank you!

HY, Yes, we must configure two network cards on the device: one on the MGMT network and the other on the iSCSI network. You can simply add a portgroup VM to the virtual switch iSCSI network (where also the VMkernel ports for iSCSI are configured) and bind it to the NIC to the iSCSI device.

EqualLogic has provided the proper documentation and download the appliance (OVF).

There's no impact on the iSCSI connection by configuring it this way. We use iSCSI on the other virtual machines also with this binding configuration (to use iSCSI on the virtual machine itself).

    Kind regards

    Hello..

I can clone EBS 11.5.10.2 Linux (RHEL 4) for Linux (RHEL5). Source and target texts are 32-bit.

The database is 10.2.0.4 that running 64-bit Linux RHEL4. The target DB server is RHEL 5 64-bit.

If so, can someone tell me what are the possible things that should be checked and validated before cloning. Some documents of metalink referring a similar requirement would be great.

    Thank you

  • Could not able to create a fence for RHEL Cluster

    Dear all,

We have configured the UCS successfully Manager & got OS installed, LUN is mapped to servers.

We have given a static ip address for KVM access on inventory... > tab CIMC & tired to use UCS Manager IP for the configuration of fencing, but we do not succeed.

We could not even be able to ssh to the MMIC balde.  Inband IP by blade is essential for the configuration of the fence... We did not pool Inband & policy for blades.

Ask that you suggest best practices to configure fencing & clustering.

    Thanks in advnace.

    Kind regards

    Hey Gopi

In case of series b servers or UCSM c-series servers, better to use fence_cisco_ucs agent managed. See the following links

  • is this setting for VMs cpu limitation cause performance hit for ESX server?

We had recently come vmware consultant do a health check.  One of the things he mentioned briefly that we should change is that we should remove the limitations of cpu that we fixed for VMS.  His reasoning is that it causes needless overhead on the ESX servers.

I was wondering what were the thoughts of everyone on this, I thought that the limitation of the cpu was a good thing because he stopped to a virtual machine in addition to cpu utilization... All opinions are appreciated.

I agree with shishir08 here, the limits should be carefully thoughtover and only be implemented for specific vm:s.

Why limit a machine if there are resources available for this purpose to consume?

However, I think that the actions and reservations always should be applied.

    Hello

I imagine that there will be an OS-specific package soon. Note that the operating system specific packages are based on VMtools open and that these could not be updated until vSphere is out, being free.
