I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver.  I installed a program of recognition of speech a few months ago and now it does not recognize this same program CD. It will recognize the other CD. I am running Windows 7.  If this occurred after an upgrade.

So I wanted to reinstall the program, but cannot get the CD player to recognize that there is a CD in the drive, I get the error messages in this program.

  • media in the CD/DVD drive is not readable HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM-GSA-H55L help!

    How can I fix it?

Step 1: Please do all the below even if you did before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

Hi, I recently have not been able to play audio CDs using my DVD - RAM drive and would be grateful if someone could help out me. When I inserted an audio CD to play on one of my media players, the disc doesn't show and read that there is "no disc in drive D:". This has happened on both of my media players and has therefore decided to load it manually via my computer, when I clicked on the icon on the player it read that it was not accessible because of a "device i/o error", however the reader will always read DVD and CD, the drive to read also played fine Audio CD yesterday and up to this point. I was wondering if someone could give me advice on how to solve this problem, thank you.

    Hello

I will also propose removing the drive from the Device Manager.
In addition, you can view the properties of the drive. Simply by right clicking on the drive and choose Properties.
Arrived at the Hardware tab, and then select the drive again and use the properties button.
Then a new window should appear. Go to the Properties tab and check if the option called enable digital CD audio for this CD-rom device has been marked.

    Hello

I oddly found the solution to my problem while browsing through the suggestions of SpritX at the following link: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-help/771598.htm

Here is the solution I implemented and now my drive works perfectly:

    RESOLUTION
Warning serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using the registry editor or by using another method. These problems may require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.

To resolve this problem, remove the affected filter drivers. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, type regedit in the search box, and then click regedit in the list programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
    2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Be careful it can be many instances of the registry subkey that is mentioned in step 2. You must ensure that you are in the appropriate registry subkey before modifying the UpperFilters and LowerFilters values. To verify that you are in the appropriate registry subkey, make sure that the default data value is the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM and the class data value is CDROM.
    3. in the right pane, click UpperFilters, and then click on remove.
    4. click on Yes to confirm the deletion of the UpperFilters registry entry.
    5. in the right pane, click LowerFilters, and then click on remove.
    6. click on Yes to confirm the deletion of the LowerFilters registry entry.
    7. exit the registry editor and then restart the computer.
Note When you delete the UpperFilters registry entry and the LowerFilters registry entry, you may lose functionality in certain programs such as CD recording programs. In this scenario, you must reinstall all of the programs involved. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor to determine if an update is available for the program.

  • HL-DT-ST DVD - RAM GSA - H55N not reading / detects a Windows 7 installation disc

I am fully updated, microsoft tried fix it. tried to roll back/update disk... Using windows XP. Drive works on 2 other laptops, so it isn't the drive. Could be my optical drive... all reg edit bugs in addition to buying a new one?

Yes, peripheral is enabled, just windows 7 dvd that does not work, music CD, DVD pc game work, tried doug knox fix and reboot unplug the thing...

You have a question for my optical drive...

the power is connected, and the cable that has like 50 different plug ins., there are two other places that are not used... What are those for? I tried to find out if im missing something, but no other cable that can go into those... are just there for something else?

Judging by you last post there is a problem with the disc. The fact that other devices rom on other computers may read it is not serious. Some are more susceptible to errors than others. As I said above, I repeatedly saw situations where a disc will be read by a device, but not by another. Personally, what I would do is put the drive in a rom device which is able to read, copy the files, and then create a bootable usb flash drive using Windows 7 USB/DVD Tool.

Wonder what that "are the other two places. I assume you mean the motherboard there where other "two places". I can't say without seeing, but most likely they are the IDE ports. In fact, one is probably a rom or the hard disk and the other is probably for a floppy disk. The port to connect floppy will be slightly smaller in size.

Is IT that you are talking about? Of course, the two TOS in the image are IDE and is not flexible, but unless you are experienced or look very close, you won't immediately notice the difference in size but it is quite substantial.

First of all, I would like to thank you in advance for your help.

I had the problem of my HL - DT - ST DVDRAM GSA - T40N ATA Device not reading anything into the drive and removed the filters.
