Home page and a new tab will appear at startup

My home page is my.yahoo.com. When FF starts the homepage tab appears MORE a new additional tab. Any ideas on how to get just the homepage at startup? (prevent FF to open additional new tab)

If you have extensions working in Firefox 11, they will work in Firefox 21 (because Firefox now, since 10, default is all compatible). In addition, you won't be on the older versions because of security risks. Upgrade to Firefox 21 as soon as POSSIBLE, then update your extensions and plugins.

  • How to make my home page in a new tab in firefox 13

I have the habit of using the new homepage tab Add on, but who did not work for several versions. So I used then NewTabUrl, but now they have decided to break that.

I am completely sick of firefox constantly make me re-learn my browser interface every two weeks. I have more important things to do that to spend hours trying to figure out what that some empty 'designer' now think is a really cute way for me to go where I want to go.

All I want is a new tab to give me the page of my choice, not an algorithm isn't relevant ridiculous imagined in a conference room with too many whiteboards and not enough common sense.

    OK, several hours later:
Solution 1: do this about: config, find newtab, find the entry for browser.newtab.url, and enter your favorite example Homepage http://www.google.com

This ensures that you avoid having the tile image, BUT the focus is in the url bar, not in the google search field. Why Firefox do that they are allowed to fly the goal in this way this is beyond me and drives me crazy - what is the probability that the first thing I want to do is to enter a url?

Solution 2: use a different add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/custom-new-tab. It is an option if you want the focus in the url bar or not. I disabled my existing NewTabUrl module, just in case of conflict.

Now you get your favorite in a new tab homepage, and new tabs have focus in the google search bar.

But the first homepage when you open firefox, always steals the focus and puts it in the url bar. At the time where I can find no way to stop it - idiots to Firefox know clearly much better that me how can I use my home page. Quite exasperating.

Just to clarify: I would like that my new tabs to open to my home page. not a white page and not frequently visited tab page.

  • Is there an option that allows me to display my Home Page when a new tab is opened?

Tabbed browsing is great, but when you open a new tab it just opens a blank page. So I have to enter a URL or to perform certain actions to go where I want to go, which is my home page. There is an option to 'Show my home page' when Firefox starts, but I don't see a similar choice when starting new tabs. Anyone know if there is such a thing?

    Choose 1 of these add-ons:

    Module NewTabURL

    New homepage tab add-on

with newtaburl you have more options

  • Set page really empty new tab

I have Firefox 42.0b1. I'm on the beta channel.
Some time before, I started to see this "new tab page" with some of the Web sites I have visited.
In previous versions, I was able to disable this terrible change browser.newtab.url to about: blank.
But this no longer works. Instead, FF now has a button "gear" in the top right of the page to the new tab, which I can click to simulate a blank page.
But this is not the behavior I expect. I don't want anything to be charged. No code, no graphics, no junk, no nothing, just a page empty and fast.

My question is: is there a way on Firefox to have a completely empty new tab page?

In Firefox pref browser.newtab.url 41 disappeared. This pref was abused by malware so frequently that Mozilla has decided to remove this pref to eliminate this kind of diversion.
You will need an extension like this one to restore.
    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/new-tab-override/

Or to have your home page as the new tab page, try this extension.
    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage/

If you're using Classic theme restaurant, go to the options of CTR > general UI (2) and set your preference for the new tab URL there.

For Super Start , you can use the topic: superstart page.

  • New session started with an advertising page and all my tabs are lost

New session started with an advertising page and all my tabs are lost. Restore the previous session is not active. How can I restore my tabs?

    Great work!

Sessionstore.bak files are ancient, probably autour time that you have installed Firefox 33 when the sessionstore-backup folder has been added.

To try using one or more files in the sessionstore-backup folder, here is the process:

    (1) exit Firefox and it must create a sessionstore.js from the main level of the profile folder file.

    (2) rename sessionstore.js to sessionstore.old file, or if you think that you will ever need, delete it.

    (3) copy in recovery.js or previous.js and rename sessionstore.js.

    (4) start Firefox then try to restore previous Session. Those are the tabs you want? If this isn't the case, you can try one of the other files in your backup sessionstore-backup.

If none of the files has the missing tabs, you could try a recent Windows restore point. It's more complicated on Windows 8 on Windows 7, and you could benefit from using a third-party utility. These have been mentioned in another thread:

Or... I read on a roundabout way to get previous Versions on the Properties dialog box in Windows 8. I can't test it myself, but here's what you do:

In the address bar of your Windows Explorer dialog box, replace the current path with the following and press ENTER:

    \\localhost\c$

Then click at the end and nail on the following (with your user name) and press ENTER:

    \Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

That should help you in the vicinity of your profile folder. Then you can right-click sessionstore.js > properties > Previous Versions, or try one of the files in sessionstore-backups.
