I bought my Toshiba Satellite L50 - C - 22 L last month and, overall, I'm very happy with it. He moved in with MS Windows 10 (X 64) running on 8 GB of RAM and works well. I have a couple of other machines running Windows 10 Pro and missed some additional features, so I bought a Pro product key. I had assumed that I would go to the settings screen, choose the 'Activation' option and then click the button change the product key. My new key would be accepted and the system should perform an upgrade in-place to Windows Pro 10. Which has proved to be a little ambitious. The process failed with the message "the product key you entered cannot be used to activate this edition of Windows. Please try a different key. I spoke to Microsoft and they have confirmed the key that it is authentic, but suggest it only works if I rubbed and rebuilt laptop computer with a new installation, registering the new product key to a suitable place in the build process. (This raises the question of what the "Change product key" button is a commercial copy of the OS, but that's another story). My question is, can I follow the instructions to create a recovery on the laptop media to recover a version of the PC factory reset, but change to include the key product Pro Win 10? If I understand correctly, if there is a WIM file as part of the recovery media, it contains all versions of Windows 10 32 - bit and 64 - bit. Installed the final version is 'unlocked' by the product key. This depends, however, how Toshiba packaged installation of recovery files and if they can be twisted this way. Of course, there may be a more obvious way to achieve the same goal I'm missing completely, so any other suggestions gratefully received. Thanks for reading, Steve Bump - no response in 3 months. I have a good Pavilion dv7 4060us I use to transport my QuickBooks files and inventory with me at the customer site, or when I'm away from the office. I bought it in 2010-2011 because of its performance and price point. The fact that it is a mobile entertainment isn't really the problem. I have five other computers in my company to update to Win 10 very well. Desktop computers. The laptop uses generic LCD drivers from Microsoft. Not the end of the world, but I wonder if anyone has found a way to resolve this display problem. When I looked at AMD site this month / last month, they said that they will not only support the material under Win 10 (said the same HP, actually, but I'm stubborn). Personally, I think it's something to do with exe or batch files in the package. It took me a while to understand the parameters in batch files, but I think Miss me something with dpinst.exe, wudfupdate, mkdevnode, etc. I'm really at the end of my patience with that, but the tablet will be pretty unusable if the screen does not turn. It turns out that it was both "n" to win 10. Any framework as the Kionix driver needed, simply was not available in the version "n". The driver is installed around the silence, albeit with a prompt, box, but it finished within 10 seconds. Previously, the box opens and you would see the framework for updated driver that passes through all the options, but not install anything. So I'm done with Win 10 Pro 1511 February 2016, the MSDN ISO. The only other annoyance was 8.1 Home Win activation key burned in the BIOS, which caused the Win 10 install to assume it was an upgrade of the home. You cannot use a recovery media for HP computer to another - it will simply not work 99% of the time. You cannot mix editions of Windows (the House is for Home, Pro goes to Pro). You want the recovery media for this unit, you need to follow the links. I've exhausted forums and the web looking for a method to activate the feature of merger of Kionix sensors on my two stream 7 tablets. Everything works very well with 'Win 8.1 with Bing', but the sensors will not successfully install under Win 10. I unpacked the SP72220 package and then unpacked the Installer "setup.exe", which contains the drivers/inf / files/reg entries etc. from batch. But try as I can, the Fusion of sensors Kionix device does not start, instead, it reports an error 10 and remains disabled. You name it, and I tried it. I have re-installed the OS several times, and I've tried the drivers Win 8.1 as well as pilots Win 10. I even downloaded several versions of Kionix and the Internet, always with the same result. I also tried DoubleDriver similar to backup the drivers provided by a Win 8.1 install, then restore to a Win 10 install, but then again, the appliance will not start. I really don't like win 8.1, but if the sensors does not start, then I might well have to go back to the operating system that is installed at the factory.
So my friends hard drive failed and unfortunetly he lost everything.
I replaced the broken hard drive for him and reinstalled Windows 10. However when I went to check if the OS has been activated, it showed as not been activated? I thought the machines after that Windows 8 had their licance saved in the BIOS, so we do not have this problem?
Also there is no sticker on the back or under the battery that contains the product key for Windows.
I also talked to Microsoft, but they were uable to help.
Any help is appreciated!

I have 2 HP drives here for Windows 10 Pro for two different HP devices. I think these are the recovery CD, it says that they cotain the client software, if that is correct? Can I use these discs Pro on a BONE at home? Or that I'd be better by following the links you provided?
2. How is this W10 Pro could have been improved in Windows 7 Home Prem OA? Looks like a decoy on the BONE.
