Homegroup and multiple user account problems

I have been searching the net for information and can't find anything that matches.  I'm having all kinds of problems through the homegroup and multiple user accounts.

I would like to know: when a machine (laptop in this case) is off the network, the individual user accounts will remain visible under homegroup?

If they are not, then homegroup is not for me.

UPDATE and closing:

I confirmed that the individual accounts of the user on a machine that visible to another when this computer is connected to another group residential computer on a local network domestic.  Why they don't look just like a homegroup internally I don't get except that the machine would always be part of a group residential e.g. a laptop, as in my case, would be carrying a homegroup with it and not be able to jump on another residential group in a different location.

What was causing me a lot of trouble has AVG Free.  Attention, the installation of AVG Free homegroup PCs cannot meet or is inconsistent at best.  My laptop would show the user accounts, but not the other homegroup PCs and both could indicate that there is no other available HG machine or sometimes invites you to create a homegroup.  It was a nightnare.

I am concerned that at some point, it asked me to put my password to iCloud and other Apple ID - which I did not. Help would be very appreciated be! Thanks in advance

Unlikely, it was hacked. Go to System Preferences > users and groups, and delete the new account. Then please download and run EtreCheck, created by one of his own assistants here in CSA. I use XP Pro and my system has been reinstalled around March. I was bound and not not determine that this happen. I went to Western Digital and watched the external 500 GB drive. They were always out of stock, so I said the * with it and go the 1 Terabyte. The lead first had problems so I had to wait again. When it arrived I started to drag / drop my file on the external drive. Somehow. and I don't know how to explain 'USER', that is Documents and settings - all users by default Administrator USER user the "USER" account earned an extra folder called got an additional file 'My Documents' on this account, it is a system file and I can't remove it. " I CAN move it. So should I just day forget about it or just keep three "My Documents" on my system. Note that the extra "My Documents" file is not on the external drive. I know I asked this before. I tried all the suggestions, but good number of suggestions I could not follow because the procedure was not on my system.

All user accounts have the 'My Documents' folder and some of them are not the standard user system or administrator accounts that don't care.

As long as you save in 'My Documents' in your profile then life is simple. Your profile is physically located in C:\documents and setings but do not venture here as your dekstop icons already give you shortcuts to 'My Documents'. Voila

  • Delteing user account problems

I am trying to remove a user account from my main administrative account and will not delete. After clicking on the button Delete, it becomes inadmissible and I must continue to send error reports. Have I been hacked and not able to do anything whatsoever as an administrator? I made a new user account and it deleted to see if I could, but still I can't delete the user account I want to delete. I'm not trying to delete my user account, another account via Control Panel and user accounts.

I don't know exactly what your problem is but here are some things that you might try...

    (1) this could be caused by a problem of file system corruption.  Try to run a "chkdsk" on your hard drive, the two verification options.  It is a step of good maintenance that must be done when even occasionally.  WARNING: on a system drive, it will be performed at the next startup, runs before Windows fully boots, cannot be interrupted and can take a few hours to complete.  (Do it when you won't need computer for awhile)

"How to perform disk error in Windows XP check"

    (2) if it does not help, try to delete the user profile before you delete the user:
Right click on "My Computer"-> properties-> advanced (tab)-> click on 'Settings' in the section "user profile".
When it comes to the top (may take some time), select the user profile you want to remove, and then click the button 'delete '.  (You can check the 'Size' column because much more disk space will need to be deleted and could take a while).  After that, try to remove the user from the control panel.

    (3) sometimes, I find that the use of the work of the prompt command line better than doing it using the GUI...
Open a command prompt window: (start-> Run-> "cmd")
Enter the following command in the command prompt window:
    NET user smith/delete
Where, of course, you replace 'smith' with the user you want to remove.

    (4) you can also try a "System Restore" at an earlier date, but if the problem is in the register, and has been around for a while, this might not be a great help.  After restoring, try to delete the new user.

I'm very used to make new user accounts and he have done many times, but this is the first time I had trouble with it. I'm just trying to create another user on my computer, but every time I try to create an and log on to it, I get the message: the user profile service service has no opening session/user profile cannot be loaded. I tried to create this profile as a standard user, administrator, and a customer. Does anyone know what is the problem?

    Hello

You can try to fix it with Safe Mode - repeatedly press F8 as you bootup. The ADMIN account in trunk
Mode has no default password (unless someone has changed the password so it should be available).

Some programs such as the updated Google (if you added the toolbar Google, Chrome or Google Earth)
has been known to cause this problem.

Looks like a video/display driver problem using this method without failure to update or
    Re - install your driver.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • Unable to make a selection in the context of important updates. Grayed. Open as administrator and not user account can not change to receive automatic updates

Sign on the user account as an administrator, but cannot change the automatic updates.

Under updates important area is grayed out and cannot select to change

    Hello Bill,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community.

As I understood it, you experience the problem, you cannot change the automatic updates even if you are logged on as an administrator user account. The option is grayed out on the system.

    Certainly, I understand your concern.

I would suggest trying the following steps and check if that helps.

    1. Open the editor of the register of the command RUN by typing "regedit" and click OK.
    2. In the tree on the left, open following files-online HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate.
    3. Remove the automatic "Update" folder This will remove all previous settings for automatic update.
    4. Open the automatic update of the control panel and option as usual.
    5. If automatic update is always gray, type the command "gpupdate/force" RUN and click OK or restart the operating system.

Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • Fusion and multiple users

    Hello

I hope someone can answer a few questions for me.

I just installed Fusion 3 on an iMac with 4 users in my household. For one reason or another, we all need access to WinXP. I have admin rights and everyone has rights of the user.

I installed the merger under my admin account, but when I change user and launch the merger, he seems to want to install XP.

    My questions are:

    (1) merger not allows to access XP from several user accounts? Not even a single user at a time?

    (2) otherwise, since it is the woman who has the most need for XP, is possible to move the virtual machine to its account, or do I have to perform another installation of XP?

    (3) if I need to perform another installation, it ruin things if I have XP/Fusion installed on my account and create another facility for her?

    Thank you

This error message is related to the function of VMware shared folders (VMware Fusion (menu bar) > VM > settings... > sharing (under control panel)) and is apparently pointing to a file that other users have no access to or is they if, lets say, pointing to your desktop folder.  In other words if the shared folder of VMware will be used, then you must point to a location that all applications have access to.  Also note that the "Mirrored folders" feature should not be used when multiple users need to access/use the same Virtual Machine.

Probably the best solution for the use of VMware shared folders with multiple users is to not use this feature and instead use native file Mac sharing in order to achieve this.  Unfortunately if you do not use the VMware Shared Folders functionality you can also not use the settings > Applications > default Applications features either.  The workaround for this is to use a share point common that all users have access to and then use native file sharing on the Mac to allow each user access to files in their home and the common share folder point that all users have access to the shared folder of VMware feature to use the settings under settings > Applications > default Applications

Unfortunately, that's when the permissions are involved and we certainly won't give all permissions for everyone to (even if desired).

I had a user account that has been password protected and I had to type the password every time at startup. If after reading a magazine I tweaked the registry and added that something called winlogon or something (I don't remember perfectly). Then I changed the existing pssword to a new. But now I have two different accounts with the same name. When the PC starts, I have to select one of them. Hi karim Shah,.

    (1) you are able to access all of your data and programs with user accounts?

    (2) don't you back up the registry before you edit?

You can undo all the changes made by restoring the registry (if a backup of the registry was taken, before editing).

Step 1: You can disable\remove the user account you want to remove from your computer. To do this, follow the steps mentioned in the link below

    Disable a user account

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-a-user-account

    Delete a user account
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/delete-a-user-account

Step 2: To identify the user account, you can rename the username you want to disable\remove. To do this, follow the steps below

    Rename a user account

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/rename-a-user-account

Note: An account has been disabled can be enabled again later. Disable an account is different from the delete an account. If you delete an account, it cannot be restored. When a user account is deleted, you no longer have access. If you delete a user account that is working properly and be gone with a defective or damaged user account computer may not start. Ensure that you keep the user account that works correctly.

Step 3: run the system restore - You can put the backup from one computer to an earlier point in time and check if it makes a difference.

    What is system restore?
