    Hello allan299,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

According to your post, I see that you have any questions on how and when your computer shuts down, and how the WiFi on your Mac is affected. I know it's nice to be able to properly manage what happens when your computer stops and starts in mode 'sleep'. I'm happy to help you find the best resolution.

You're right, when your computer stops completely it will turn the Wi - Fi. If you enable the wake for network access, Wi - Fi remains lit, and you can access shared resources on your computer, such as printers or iTunes shared playlists even when your computer is in "sleep". Definition of a calendar closing and start on your Mac can also be useful.

Check out the following resources that will help the set options that control the energy use of your computer, sleep, and wake-up times for your Mac and the calendar from your Mac to turn on or turn off or go to sleep:

OS X Yosemite: energy saver Preferences

OS X Yosemite: set sleep and wake up on time for your Mac

  • My printer is configured to start when the computer turns on. I want to reconfigure it so that it does not turn

My printer is configured to start when the computer turns on.  I want to reconfigure it so that it won't turn.  I know this is probably a simple change, but I can't find the path anywhere.  Any help?

I guess you do NOT mean that you have both printer and computer plugged into the same power strip and both are turn on when you turn on the power strip.

As nearly as I can determine the rather thin material in the Guide for the Dell P713w user, probably have enabled "Eco-Mode" or the mode 'sleep '.  See page 19 of the User Guide (if you don't have it, download it here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/PRN_P713w/en/index.htm).

When this feature is enabled, the printer goes into mode low power when it has been idle for a while.  When the computer is off, the printer is by definition inactive and so will go to low power, shortly after that the computer is turned off.  When the computer is turned on, it detects the presence of the printer and connects to the printer.  Apparently, the printer interprets this string as the "no-idle" and out of his low-power mode, which appears as if it is "turn on."

In addition, this printer performs an automatic maintenance cycle every week if it is plugged into a power outlet. It will briefly exit Power Saver mode or turn on temporarily if it is disabled.

At least one of the lights on the printer flashes power on and off when you think that the printer is turned off?  If so, it is in energy saving mode.

Of course, I may be totally wrong, but it seems to me if you actually turn off the printer by pressing the button on / off on screen, he should not be able to auto (except once / week maintenance cycle).  From the Manual:

Note: When the printer is turned on, press [power] to switch to the power saving mode. Press and hold [power] for 3 seconds to turn off the printer.

  • Toshiba 32RV635D does not power off when the computer turns off

    Hello

I inherited a Toshiba 32RV635D. I have a PVR based on linux (Mythtv) connected to the TV via HDMI, connected on a Nvidia GT610.

With my previous TV, a Vistron LCD Panel at low prices, he would go to sleep when the put PC into hibernation and light up when the PC came back.
This required no configuration of me, he's done right. The Toshiba TV does not work.

With this Toshiba TV, when the POR turns off the TV turns off screen but is actually still on - power led remains lit in green.

Same thing with the other way around - if I put the TV in standby and powered the POR, the TV does not respond and I have to manually put out of Eve.

I updated the firmware and it has not changed anything, and I can't find anything related to power management in the menus of televisions. I even tried just pulling the HDMI cable to the back of the TV so it has no physical active entry, and yet, it does not fall to sleep.

The Amazon page for TV mentions the power management features, and I expected from what I understand, it should behave the way she.

I read a lot on HDMI-CEC, but to use it with my existing kit, I would need to buy an adapter USB - CEC, and which seems a little odd because my previous TV not cheap-as-chips just done this...

Also, the different uses in linux suggests considers its sounds the right - 'xset q' running when the computer is idle tells me that "the monitor is turned off" when in fact it is not.

    Clues?

Ricklous, it can be useful if you have a look at the url
    http://www.Toshiba-OM.NET/LCD/PDF/English/Country_Specific/RV635-323742-English-specific.PDF

If you want to download the manual of the English edition for your model, I have not read through, but it may be useful to you.

Either by the way, I have the model 32RL900A and find only a VCR plugged into the claims of taking SCART screen every time it turns on while the TV is set to a string of FTA (Free To Air) and then 'hands back' screen when he (PVR) goes out, and this, I discovered, is a characteristic of the system SCART.

I don't know if this information is useful to you, but hope it helps.

  • WINDOWS CALENDAR DOES NOT WHEN THE COMPUTER TURNS

    Hi guys:

I'm having a problem with Windows Calendar. In the past, when I had an appointment for a date, the calendar would turn on automatically to remind me, as soon as I turned on my computer. Recently, this has changed. Now, I can always make an appointment, but if I'm not manually in calendar, it will not attract me, the way that it used to. Obviously the parameters have changed. I don't have any idea on how to solve this problem. Can you guys please help?

    Sincerely,

    Hi Rachel,

To do this, you'll want to schedule in your startup folder so that it works even when the computer starts.  Here's how.

    1. Press + R to view the race box.  Type : startup of the shell and click OK to open the startup folder.
    2. Open your menu start, find calendar and drag it into the startup folder.

You are finished.  Now, it runs automatically when you connect.

  • The Pop Up when I first turn the computer telling me there is a Flash Player update - is it really Adobe? This is probably malware?

The pop up when I first turn on the computer that tells me an update for Flash Player is available. It is actually made of Adobe or is it some potential malware to avoid? He appears before even I connect my ISP.

    Hi Tom,

If you have a Windows machine, this could be a meaningful dialogue.  If you have your Flash Player configured to notify you when an update is available, when Flash detects that an update is available, it creates a registry entry to view the notification log in.  If you want to check if it is valid, please take a screenshot of the dialog window and post it here.  In addition, when the dialog box is displayed, open the Task Manager and look for a FlashUtil_VersionNumber.exe process.  Get the exact name of the file and post it here as well.

Alternatively, you can update Flash Player on your own by going to get.adobe.com/flashplayer.  Once the update to Flash Player you shouldn't receive more updates (unless you choose to receive notices how the notification when an update is available).  If you use several browsers, you'll want to visit this page with every browser, such that it is configured to detect the operating system/browser and offer the type of readers according to the browser.

  • When the computer 'host' is accessible by the 'guest' on the network computer, the host computer crashes hard.

There is no error message, making it difficult to diagnose. There are two computers running Vista, fully patched, connected via a network of small size. (Microsoft MSE, no virus, start using activated, etc. "It is clean). When the computer goes to * any * file of the host computer, the host computer crashes immediately. There is no error message, freezing of mice, all hard disk activity stops, it stops absolutely everything. The continuous guest PC works well, it simply notes that the host computer is "not available". Someone saw something like that? I certainly have not. It's far too vague to diagnose.

I looked on the event logs and couldn't find anything saying. I disabled and re-enabled the network shares, etc. Because they are built Lenovo desktop computers, I have a difficult time to do a "repair", but I guess I could give that a shot with some Vista discs. As I understand it, these computers are not often with Vista bootable discs.

It is essential that I can diagnose it. In almost twenty years of THIS I've never seen anything this vague and almost impossible to diagnose.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Is it all the same to make a "full reset" or "Refresh" of networking in Vista? Who could do.

I also note that it is a recent issue, these systems worked very well for a while and it's a change suddenly. Particularly curious because I locked the Windows updates to update only when I say so... and I didn't have lately.

Have you tried to replace the NETWORK card on the computer that crashes? If not, it's what I would do then. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Software HP C4380 printer causes delays when the computer starts.

I don't know what triggered the problem. I had unplugged the printer and reinstalled. Now, when the computer starts, it hangs for 2-3 minutes seeking a device to the USB location 0. That remove the HP software solves the problem. I installed with the latest HP drivers and tried to use only the printer drivers without the scanner software. If I avoids the HP software, Windows installs with a Jungo win driver that causes the same result. It could have been an update of my Windows XP Home SP3 in the meantime I demolished the printer and reinstalled, but I can't follow any other changes.

Now the printer is useless because of this problem. HP forums suggested disabling a program of tracking of HP under Services.msc, but who has also failed to solve the problem. Any suggestions?
