How blackBerry Smartphones in Contacts, Research Notes?

I use the 'Notes' field extensively in my Contacts and I've always been able to easily search for simple text for the keywords that I place in the Notes field with all my previous smartphones like my iPhone or Treo.  How to search those keywords text in my new Blackberry "BOLD"?

What I would do, is make a full backup of the BB with Desktop Manager (this way you can always restore from backup should anything be screwed up worse.)

It is always useful to receive assistance, to include your BlackBerry device model # and carrier name, so that when you have a question, what information should be asked from the start. Also, indicating the version of the operating system of your device is normally another common question, found on your BlackBerry options > about, third line, looks like 'v4.x.x.xxx '.

    1. where your photos are stored? If they are on the map, just remove the media card and keep it.

You can also use the Blackberry Desktop Software to synchronize the media and images on your PC.

2 contacts, memos, etc., synchronize with Outlook on your computer if you use Outlook, or backup of the device to the PC via the BlackBerry Desktop Software. The backup file is ONLY available to restore to another BlackBerry... so that the synchronization of Outlook is the best bet.

AND, if your BlackBerr device is / was on one account BES with COMPUTER strategies, none of the above is possible... but still, you have not stated the detail necessary to answer your questions completely.

  • How blackBerry Smartphones entry Contact Zip Code default to Numeric rather than Alphabetic?

In addition to coding in whenever I want to enter a zip code digital for a new contact (99.9% of my contact postcodes are purely digital), is there a configuration option by default to communicate with Postal Codes in Numeric rather than Alphabetic.  I realize the Canada-based RIM, but why default entered zip code?

No, there is not an option to change this.

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

RIM provides a device switch Wizard to migrate from another SmartPhone to a BB... but only for compatible devices. See this KB:

    • KB05459 How to use the switch device Wizard to switch to another smartphone to a BlackBerry smartphone

If your old phone is not compatible with the wizard, then RIM more offers the possibility to import ASCII and CSV files. See this KB:

    • KB04312 Create and synchronize with an ASCII export file
KB11194 How to import contacts from a CSV file to the BlackBerry
    • Sorry, but RIM does no research on how to get your data from your old device and in ASCII format or CSV... it is a function of your old device.

In addition, you could (I think should) use a desktop PIM for your data (and you should, IMO). You must choose a compatible PIM of this KB. Then download your data from your old device and the PIM Office. Next, configure the BB to sync with the PIM:

  • BROWSER blackBerry smartphones don't DO NOT WORK

OK thanks... you came very close to what I need... except just saying 'mistake' in regard to music downloads... but, any...

I suggest the following, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message to your BB to come...) Please wait for this before moving on to the next step):

    (1) registry HRT

    • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network
    • Please wait a 'registration' message reach your Messages application

    (2) remove and return Service directories

    • KB05000 Remove the maintenance book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account in the BlackBerry smartphone
    • If you do not have access CMIME, continue deleting
    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    • Please wait "the Activation' Messages, one per already configured e-mail account, arrive in your Messages. If you have not already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

    (3) restart to take batt

    • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

I hope that will move things again for you! If this isn't the case, then you need to get in touch with your service provider and insist that they honor the formal support that they are contractually required to provide you with. Do not let you fob before having 100% solved the situation. If they tell you to contact RIM, don't let them not on the hook, then either... insist that they tell you exactly how you should contact RIM. If they say anything OTHER that they will increase you rim (for example, if they tell you to independently seek the support of the RIM), and then accept it. Only through an escalation of your service provider can you receive all official support from RIM.

Looks like they have made significant changes to their network... and they must ensure that their paying customers will continue to receive the services that they pay.

    Good luck!

  • Encryption of blackBerry Smartphones memory devices does not turn off

I want to use blackberry protect but since I got my phone there a small lock next to the checkbox to disable encryption so I can't turn it off. I upraged to os7.1, but the problem remains. Can someone help me?

Hello and welcome to the community!

I'm not sure about the correlation between the encryption and the BB Protect... you jumped from one to another at whiplash speed in your post... do not understand.

But, nevertheless, if encryption is active and locked, then the most likely answer is that your device has a COMPUTER Board policy that requires encryption is active. You can check the existence of a COMPUTER policy via this method:

    • KB30076 How to check for an it on a BlackBerry smartphone policy

If you're on BES through your company or otherwise, you have to stop now and talk to your BES admins, because they are in control of it on your device policy.

If you are not on BES, then somehow you got a device that once stood on BES, and who gave you sanitized it not properly before give you the device. You can now clean, but it will be totally destructive. Therefore, please begin by reviewing the Backup link in my sig auto on this post and make sure you have a full and complete backup.

Once you have a backup, you can do this to clean your BB of the it policy:

    • KB31291 How to reset a BlackBerry smartphone to factory using BlackBerry Desktop Software Settings

Subsequently, when you restore, DO NOT make a full restore... rather just do a selective restore of the databases you need (e.g., contacts, calendar, messages, etc.) and more precisely to avoid any database that have nothing to with COMPUTER policy, business, etc.. If you restore those, they will dutifully restore COMPUTER policy and you will be right back where you started.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry smartphones Add Contact Pro app - download problem

    Hi all

I have the BB 8520 curve. Last week I bought 'Add Contact Pro' on Blackberry app World. After purchase and during the download I received an error and stopped the whole process. The app didn't download. I sent mail to the developer app three times but no response.

Can someone help me on how to download again (I did purchase)?

    Thank you

    Atomleaf

Hello and welcome to the community!

I suggest that you clear the cache of the AppWorld application.

    For legacy devices (pre-BB10):

    1. open the App World

    2. go to my world

    3. follow one (and only one!) of these steps:

    3. for the BB keyboard-oriented - hold down the ALT key and press on, in the sequence R, then S, then T

3B. for touch screen only BBs - hold the num-lock (! 123 button) so that it hangs and then press on, in the sequence 3, then 4, then)

    3 c for the most recent (e, g., OS6 and 7) BB s, see this KB:

    • KB24714 How to clear the cache of BlackBerry App World

    4 AppWorld must close.

    5. If your BB locks after issuing clear cache, do a battery pull reboot

    6. return to AppWorld/MyWorld (it can be slow, while it re - sync). .

If (4) stage arrives not as described, then the empty the cache failed.

    For BB10 devices:

    • KB33818 Applications in BlackBerry World are stuck in a State facility and cannot be cancelled or removed from the download list

After the empty Cache, then to re - install the app, please see this KB:

  • BlackBerry smartphones download contacts

Hi, I'm new to the world of blackberry - ask if there is a way to transfer all my contacts from my old nokia to my curve? Or I have to input each one - by - hard - one contact?

    Thank you in advance. S

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Usually the seller (Vodaphone in this case) switch them when you buy the unit. I Sue this option first.

If you use the same SIM which was in the Nokia try the following:

Import contacts from the SIM card to your contact list

If this does not work you can try using the Switch Device Wizard in the Desktop Manager software:

  • Bbm blackBerry Smartphones transfer contacts

My blackberry storm fell and the screen no longer works so I bought a new. Can I transfer contacts from the old to the new bbm although I don't see anything on the screen?

  • BlackBerry & Smartphones Photos Contact names ceased to show (9650)

    Hello:

Earlier, I added photos contact to all my BBerry Contacts.  It worked perfectly for quite a while.

But the last 2 weeks (or more), when I get a call I get no resources and no contact photo.  Just the number, which, if I don't recognize, I'm going to ignore.

(The reason why I have the names and photos is so I don't have to memorize numbers.  )

The contact photos are always in my contacts list, so nothing happened to them.  And ss as much as I know I haven't added new applications.  So I'm puzzled as to why they would suddenly stop showing when I get a call.

Anyone know how I can make them work properly?

I covered this Council and google for an answer and not found anything.  Thank you very much in advance...

    Hello

I would recommend to check if you have encryption enabled on the BlackBerry smartphone or press card. Go to the Options-Security Options. If it is enabled, disable it and try again then take out the battery.

    Thank you

Hello and welcome to the community!

Indeed, these IPD files are backups of your BB and are available as a source of food (they are a proprietary format and cannot be used for any other purpose, except by a few 3rd party applications that have been written to analyse). Choose the most recent one (the one with the most recent date and time, as displayed in the File Manager Windows) using this procedure:

  • BlackBerry Smartphones 9320 SMS is not received

Recently (for the last month or almost) my curve blackberry 9320 received no texts, I do not think a lot that I use my BBM more than I text so I just thought that people were not to contact me, but then I asked someone text me, I saw that they sent and he had delivered, but my phone has never notified me of the received message I went into the folder of text messages, and nothing is found, the text I had just been sent, I can send text easily and they are delivered successfully to others but I can not just receive texts, I even texted me (Sad I know), but the phone said they had delivered but I never received them I tried battery pull, pull out my card sim for a while (30 minutes) and then to restart my phone, nothing... It's weird because I've never had this problem before.

I contacted my service provider and this has baffled them also because they could not help and did not know what it is, has anyone here ever had this problem?

  • BlackBerry smartphones restore Contacts

I used the option to RESTORE my back upwards, the software restored everything EXCEPT my Contact list.

I also tried to restore specific items... the ability to restore contacts does not check the box for the restoration.

I have a Bold 9700, abt 2.5 years. Due to some glitch the complete contact list is located in the back-up, my google sync has only half!

    Any suggestions please

Try to disable your Google Contact sync and then to perform the restore.
