How can I back up my data and re-install Windows XP?

How do I save everthing and clean computer

I would get a 500G hard drive or more and then transfer files

However, I learned from a friend that I can not re-insall different XP Home Edition on a hard drive.

I have a Dell optiplex 210L and it was crashed about 3 weeks ago.

We re - he looked by the loading of our reinsall cd and loaded xp on the largest partition (provided with the computer).

I guess it was a bad install?

a lot of bugs and current corruptions

need to save all the files and start again from a formatted drive

Help please...

I have 2 usb drivers

And once again:
You want to replace your current IN-HOUSE (the one inside the PC) hard drive with a larger? Or you want to buy an EXTERNAL hard drive to accommodate all your data?
And...

If you have performed a parallel installation, you're in luck. If you have performed a clean installation, your data are essentially missing. Please tell us EXACTLY what you did.

This CD should work and it should be bootable.  It seems that if you always boot from the hard drive and then you look at the content of the CD-ROM in Windows Explorer.

If the BIOS is set to boot from the CD, you should not get a menu asking which device to boot from.  At most, you will get something like "Press any key to boot from the CD-ROM."

You have an another bootable CD that you know works or do you have another computer you can try this CD to see if it works correctly?

I need to keep all programs, files, folders, and data I have on the hard drive.

How can I do all three and the link to my new Windows 7 for my new hardware?

    Hello

    You can not do

the old hard disk contains the drivers for the motherboard that is old and in all likelihood will not start when it is installed with the new motherboard

a clean install is normally required when changing motherboards

  • How to uninstall Windows XP, save data and re-install Windows XP

My computer is running very slowly; Some programs take literally minutes to appear. I have the disks so I figure I'll uninstall and reinstall. I would like to save the data of losing it; address of e-mail etc. Do not know how to proceed. Thanks for any comments.

Technically speaking, you uninstall an operating system as such, you just format the drive where it is installed and then install another OS or use the drive for anything you want.  This is the easiest part, just start the computer with your CD of Windows XP and the disk & partition selection screen, select the partition where you want to install Windows XP, and then format the NTFS partition and proceed with the Windows installation.  Very important: make sure you have the Windows XP product key BEFORE you to format the Windows installation!  Without the key, you will not be able to install Windows XP.  If you have lost the key, it can be retrieved the operational facility before formatting it.  You must also have the latest drivers for your as motherboard and chipset at hand, these are the first drivers you need to install after installing Windows, then you normally install video drivers and other drivers.  It helps a lot if you know what hardware is installed and if you have the drivers on hand or that you know at least that the manufacturer has them available on their site.

Save your settings and personal data may be a little harder, if all your web browsing is done with Internet Explorer and if all your e-mail is done with Outlook Express you can use the files and Settings Transfer Wizard to save these settings and files and then restore them to the new facility.  If you use another browser or web e-mail program and then saving those settings and files will depend on programs.

With regard to your personal information only you can know or decide what should be saved, usually most of your data would be in your profile (C:\Documents and Settings\Votre user name) folder, but we all know that most of the users themselves with data stored outside the profile folder, you should know where your data is and then back up to CD DVD, s, external or second internal drive or another computer on your network.  If you ask me the safest way is to clone the hard disk whole or all but the Windows folder on a second hard drive to backup.

PS: It's also things go much faster if you first download Service Pack 2 and Service Pack 3 and burn them on a CD beforehand.  Install them AFTER installing the drivers.  (You have SP1 or SP2 installed prior to installing SP3, you can install SP2 without SP1).  He's going to win a lot of time when you go to the Windows Update site if the installation is already upgraded to SP3.

Have you tried the free software IrfanView to view your animated .gif files?

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

    IrfanView and IrfanView plugins
    http://www.download.HR/download-IrfanView.html
(scroll down a bit for the download links)
    (Download plugins too)

To display .gif inches open IrfanView and go... File / thumbnails... and
Navigate to the folder in which the .gif files are archived. Double click left one
.gif to see Animate in the main display window.

It is also available for free download at the following link which may be worth a try:

    Hey Amir,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forums and thanks for your post about it.

Want to know where you can get the other start screen themes and background for Windows 8 outside the themes and background images already present images in Windows 8 by default.

Let me inform you that we will not be able to add additional themes and backgrounds for the splash screen in Windows 8. However, it is possible for the desktop interface. If you want to add backgrounds and additional desktop themes, you can visit these links and then download your favorite themes and background images.
