  So I have a big problem. I need to add a printer to my laptop to print important documents, but I can't connect to it without my administrator password. My father is the administrator of my computer and reset his password twice now to remember one, but forgetting the current. We tried everything we could for the passwords, but it did not work. I used to have BitLocker on my USB (password reset disk), but I went through a lot to remove it because I thought it was BitLocker causing the error message to display. However, I removed BitLocker, and I still get the same error message. How can I reset my password without completely restoring Windows 7 because I have on my browser bookmarks that are mandatory for me and there's like a mile away, so I'll never have time to go to each link and save the URL. My father suggest saving all my documents on an external hard drive, then Windows 7 reset, but then all my bookmarks and downloads disappear with it. I'm also not allowed to install some things that I want to use my standard account, but I'm not allowed to do so without the administrator password.   Here you go:

  1. Set your BIOS so that it uses the DVD drive as its primary boot device.
  2. Start the computer with your Windows 7 repair CD.
  3. Press a key when prompted to boot from the DVD.
  4. Select 'PC Repair' in the menu.
  5. Select 'Repair' when prompted.
  6. When you are prompted, select System Restore.
  7. Configure Windows to a point before you changed the password.
  8. Plan ahead a little and create, test and document an alternative admin account, same as you have a spare emergency House key. This will save you a lot of trouble.

  Please follow the steps below to do so.

  1. Log on the Microsoft account.
  2. Press Windows Key + C.
  3. Click settings.
  4. Click change PC settings.
  5. Click accounts
  6. Click on your account.
  7. Click on Disconnect.
  8. Type the password to Microsoft.
  9. Click Next and click switch.

  By following the steps provided above user account switches to a Local account with all the settings and user files.
