I just got the NBN Optus connected and time capsule doesn't seem to work, can anyone advice on how to connect. I connected to a modem (Sagem Fast 38640op) with cable but the mac does not expect a return to the top

You should do a full factory reset on the TC...

Repeat the installation... and it should work correctly in bridge and create a wireless network.

The Sagemcom really poor wireless but you can leave it on... use it for your network wireless of comments.

This is my normal configuration guide... but there are a few specific pieces to network problems with the operating system later as Yosemite or El Capo.

Start from a factory reset. No files are lost on the drive hard in doing so.

You can use the name... SMB://TCgen5.local where you replace TCgen5 with your name of TC... local is the default domain of the TC and does not change.

However the names are not so easy as... the IP address nor reliable. They are not at least not in Yosemite. The field can also be a problem if you are not clogged or wireless directly to the Treasury Board.

6. ensure that IPv6 is set to link-local only in the computer. For example wireless open network, wireless and Advanced preferences / TCP/IP... and the difficulty of IPv6. link-local only. Do the same for the ethernet if you use it.

If you move the photo library to the TC... it might work for a while, but because of the way the library is open when you change directly a file inside the library... If wireless fails, it can let the corrupt library... Some people ignore the problem... some people take care to use it for storage and run a small library for current materials on the Mac... and Exchange libraries... which is fine... as long as you don't change on the source of the network.

Be warned... the photos are perhaps the most valuable items on your computer, once moved to the TC you have no backup and no way Time Machine can do backups of disks of backup network... so, if you're moving not the CT library... Please make continuous backups either manually... or knowing human frailty to buy a tool like carbon copy clone which is not limited like Time Machine for disks of local backup only. You will need to know where you're going for the backup of... but if it's a USB on your computer then you are simply running it the wrong way. When a machine is restored to the State of the plant and then you are prompted to select your own account name and password. If you are challenged for a password, then the machine is not in "Factory condition" and you must perform a new factory restore.
