I need help!  I need to get my email to work.

When I open outlook express, it immediately freezes as soon as I look at the emails with an hourglass.

If you can access the menu in OE, go to file | Identities and establish a new identity.  If you then open the identity, go to file | Import | Messages and import from the old identity.

Even if you can't access the menu items and deleting folders.dbx has not fixed the problem, then you will need to rename the file inbox.dbx either move them to another directory.  OE should start without locking up, because it will create a new Inbox and there is nothing to read.  Then you can manually import the renamed inbox.dbx file as described here: www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#imp1 , but DON'T try to import it into the box inbox.dbx but rather under another name.

    You should know what type of program is supposed to be used to open this file - and this program must be installed on your computer.

    What kind of file is it?  What is the file extension (3 or 4 characters after the point)?

    If you know what type of program is needed and you already have this program installed, the best way to create the association is

    • find a file with the extension in question
    • Right click on it
    • Select "open with > choose program.
    • Select the correct application of the list
    • Check the box "always use the program selected to open this type of file"
    • Click OK.

    If the program you need is not in the list, click on the "Browse" button and locate the program exe file in C:\Program Files.

    In OE, if you want to separate the accounts, go to file | Identities and then set up an account for each identity.  Then you'd have 3 identities and 3 accounts to match.

    If you set up 3 accounts under a single identity, then his will download messages from all 3 and then put them in the Inbox.  If you want to separate them according to the account, you can go to tools | Message rules and set up a rule to move messages between each account to different folders.

    If you have these two possibilities.

    Do not get rid of Windows Search, just to make an adjustment. You must tell Windows Search to stop indexing OE.

    I use InDesign 2015.2 on Windows 7.  I'm working on a document and you want to use a family of fonts installed on my computer.  Not all fonts display correctly in the window however.  When I select some fonts to a paragraph style, they appear as symbols and glyphs.  These fonts appear in the drop-down type (and an example of the face appears in the drop-down list).  They work very well in other applications Adobe, such as Illustrator.  No idea why I can't get to work in InDesign?  TIA!

    OK, for anyone who cares here is the scenario.

    I was on a tight schedule. I got a massive records in layers, - nested all - .psd

    I use Photoshop CS 5.5

    I need only the visible layers.  So, I'm going to 'Delete hidden layers' right? Oops it is grey, I couldn't use it - Ahhh, that was because of the locked layers...

    No problem. Ugh wait.

    Then I realized - in the structure of the complicated layer that I had to go through every single folder, open it, look for a locked layer and unlock it (folders nested inside the files nested etc..). If the layer was not visible and it was locked, I had to start by putting visible, then unlock it and turn it off, then turn it back on.

    Aaaarrggghhh I was on a deadline and I didn't just have the time - but I had to do it anyway.

    It was a painful experience... I tell you right now, designers on SEND me A PSD WITH LOCKED LAYERS MORE EVER

    It would have been so much easier if I could just get 'locked in layers' and "unlock everything."

    Does anyone know of a solution? Probably something I should have known years, or perhaps a feature request?

    It is a very common problem when users become familiar with a new laptop. Either your palm/wrist/cuff/bracelet is touching the touchpad as you type or the touch pad sensitivity is set too high and reacts to strong strikes.
    • Someone to watch you while you type to see if you accidentally touch touchpad of the notebook.
    • Go to the control panel mouse configuration and reduce the sensitivity of the touchpad.
    • Make sure you use the latest version of the driver from the manufacturer of the laptop for the touchpad and update if a new becomes available.
    • Disable the touchpad entirely in favor of a wireless laptop mouse.
    As noted previously, this is a very common problem and users are usually completely unaware they do even when it is pointed out to them.
