How can I erase my HARD drive?

Hey guys,.

I recently just got a new HARD drive in the mail and it's so much better than the one that came with my Dimension 8250.  My problem is that, because it's faster and things, I want to make my boot drive so that my computer can also improve.  Unfortunately, I can't do without deleting everything on my old hard drive first and then installing XP on my new HARD drive.  To restate, I need to know how to delete my old HDD.

  • Can't erase my hard drive recovery utility

    Hello everyone,

Huge disappointment a few hours ago. My system would not start. Rebooted from OS X Recovery and scanned with utility disk to find out there was a mistake not repairable in the hard disk which told me that I should restore with time machine. Fortunately, I had my backed up system and that's what I was doing. After the process, I found that my data was back, I have not all apps! No safari, no itunes, no store apple to re - install applications, nothing... Maybe I should have stopped here and ask for help, but given that my data has been backed up, I thought it wouldn't hurt to try the other option in the OS X Recovery: reinstall OS X.

So I tried to reinstall OS X. It took a few hours, and when the system was finally restarted to complete the installation, it prompted a message saying that OS X could not be installed (don't remember why).

Now, when I try to start the computer, it automatically goes to the recovery, and practically I can't do anything... I can't use time machine because the hard drive to the mac does not present as an option to install the system. It won't let me delete the partition that the system created to install the OS X either (about 1.3 GB)... the options for 'clear' are grayed out.

I tried to erase everything, but I'm not power, and it seems that there is not much I can do, given all the options appear to be available... What a physical error in the hard drive? It was working perfectly before this happened, and the laptop has not left the office in between.

The system is a MacBook Pro from 2012 (originally with the Mountain Lion and now ran on Yosemite). The hard drive is a semiconductor.

All the miraculous solutions are welcome!

    Thank you!

Should be explained a little more disciplined, please.

For example: the system created to install the OS X is (about 1.3 GB) is not clear: 1.3 GB is much too small to install OSX on it, then of course, you can't go. And you cannot use the RecoveryPartition for anything other than repair or reinstall the disk 'real '. The Partition Recovery itself not even 1 GB by a long shot...

Since you have the TM backup, what you can do is:

in the recovery partition, open DiskUtility, select the disk (not the partition, but the disk with the name 'complicated': DiskUtility should give the size (128GB, 56 GB or other): then in DiskUtility choose tab partition, then the partition: 1 partition, OS X Extended (journaled), (Advanced :) button) GUID Partition table.

a when you're done, exit DiskUtility, select install OSX then TM, or install it directly from TM.

  • How can I change a hard drive to an old drive sata150 sata300

I just replaced my old hard drive with a new one, the old rate was sata150 but my other can go to 300. How can I display this, I have a desktop hp paviilion m7580n computer. My old drive was also a 300 GB, my new is a 1 TB drive.     Thank you

Add to what was explained on the SATA technology I have details for your motherboard listed below.

    Serial ATA

    • 4 SATA connectors:
      • SATA1 = black
        SATA2 = white
        SATA3 = blue
        SATA4 = yellow
NOTE: SATA connector each is the same color across different manufacturers.
      • supports 1 disk serial ATA-150 on each SATA connector
      • Speed up to 1.5 Gbps, in line with the SATA 1.0 specification

As the jury only supports format SATA-150, you will not be able to take advantage of higher speed rate.

Remove the HARD drive cable connector HARD drive. Be sure to not reach
damage to the connector. Place the mounting of the HARD drive on a flat surface and remove the 4 screws.
Then drive HARD is free one may be replaced by a new one.

    Hello

As far as I know the HARD drive is placed on the right side of the laptop.
I think it's on the same side where the reader is placed.

    1. turn the computer.
    2. remove the screw of the cover of the HDD location and remove the cover.
    3. remove the screws fixing the HARD drive ASSY.
    4. hold the HARD drive door handle and remove the drive HARD ASSY.
    5. remove the screws that attach the HARD drive.
6 detach the HARD drive from the HARD drive support.

    That's all

So finally getting my new laptop for work, the first thing made disk image and drive cloned to 2 separate drives, 1 disk to hide for emergency use second drive an SSD to replace the 1 TB drive. Low and here is new HP Envy can not simply pull old (new) hunt and put new and install first as storage device that I was planning to do. Can someone please tell me if I can get out of the car and replace it with the SSD, I bought this laptop? I don't care even if I use the 1 TB it came with I want to the SSD in there. Before I even started looking for the reader. I really just instructions on how to pull the back panel or keyboard and put in the other drive. Please, any help would be appreciated. Yes, I have all the tools to do so.

    Here is the Manual:

    Manual

See Page 64. You must remove the top cover, but not the motherboard. This jeopardize the warranty but HP will not void the warranty if you do the upgrade successfully.

Assuming you did the clone properly, you should just be able to exchange the SSD instead of hard drive.

  • How can I put a hard drive of the laptop into a desktop computer?

I have a HP Pavilion 5000 ZV who died some time ago, and the hard drive is always good. It's 60 GB running Windows Xp. there I got the laptop from a friend because they did not want. Also I have a desktop IBM Aptivia since 1998 and it has a huge 8 GB HDD running windows 98. I want to put the laptop drive in the desktop and take out the old one. I would buy a new hard drive, but it's Microsoft Office 2003 pro. This is the only copy I have and I did re install the product key. I need this computer for my workshop. How to operate? Is there a part I need? If Yes, where can I get a?

If I understand correctly, you have a laptop HP Pavilion ZV 5000 which doesn't work but has a 60 GB HDD that has installed Windows XP and Office 2003 is also installed.

You want to put the laptop hard drive in an old desk.

You have two problems: hardware and software.

Hardware issues can probably be solved easily (you would need something like this $10--> http://tinyurl.com/d539pwf kit - but read the comments).

The problem of software is that you can not take an existing installation of Windows XP and completely change the hardware.  If you try, you will need to do a reinstall of Windows before it will work.

If you have a generic OEM XP install CD, you may be able to do a repair installation (save applications - for example Office 2003), but the CD must be at a same or later version of XP (Home, Pro) and Service Pack level as the version of XP that is installed.  You must also have the product key that is associated with the OEM install CD (I think that the key to the label on the HP will fail).

More likely, you will need to do a clean install, which will involve formatting the drive.

If you have the Office 2003 installation CD, you can retrieve its installation key from the drive of the laptop before installing it in the office.  Probably the best way to do this is to put the laptop in a hard drive enclosure external drive, which attach to a working computer and use of Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder using his function to "Load hive".

You want to replace Windows 7 with Windows XP. A big mistake, in my opinion, but if that's what you want to do, read on.

First of all, you can not distribution a disc, remove the Windows partition is selected, from inside Windows. This would be like sawing the branch of a tree, on which you sit. You must do this by starting from other media.

Second, to install XP instead of Windows, you don't need to (and shouldn't) partition the disc first.

To do a clean install of Windows XP, simply boot you from the XP CD and follow the instructions for a clean install. It will begin by formatting the drive for you.

To boot from the CD, you must go to the BIOS Setup program and brings order to boot to CD first.

How to get into your BIOS depends, not Windows, but on what motherboard/BIOS card that you have. In fact, you must Access the BIOS before Windows begins to start. A common way is to press the delete key when you first turn on, but this is not necessarily good for your computer. Watch the display carefully when you start first; There is often a message here to tell you what to do. If this is not the case, check your system documentation or check with your provider.

    Look also here: http://michaelstevenstech.com/bios_manufacturer.htm

Or try the delete key. There is a good chance that's right for you.
