How can I fix an instalation of windows on a 2nd drive?

I had a computer crash. My instalation on my original C drive windows wouldn't start.

So, I installed a 2nd HDD and installed vista on it.

This new instalation of windows, I can view the files on the original drive, and that animate, as a whole, seems to work very well yet.

Is there a way to repair a vista instalation when executing a different vista instalation?

The DVD seems to only be able to perform operations on the active instalation of vista.

Basically, I would like to get around having to reinstall all my programs.

You will need to reinstall the programs.

When programs are installled, they are not just installed in Program Files.

The program is also installed in part in the registry and related programs and processes of the operating system.

That's why you can't transfer programs and they have reinstalled.

See you soon.

The lack of tabs in display properties usually indicates a malware infection. First run the scans and do not skip the preparatory work. If the machine stands (not frozen) in Safe Mode (where you'll be scanning), it is also a good indication of infection. Regarding the CD does not start, you probably don't have the computer configured to boot from the optical drive. But no matter, because enter the Recovery Console (which is what happens when you press 'R' from the XP installation disk) won't be useful in your situation anyway.

  • How can I fix problems created with Windows Installer Cleanup?

I had some problems installing a software on my Windows XP and had to run the software Windows Installer Cleanup before the program installs. I was stupid and didn't choose carefully what programs should perform the Windows Installer Cleanup. So now my automatic updates for my XP will not be installed.

Here is the message I get when trying to install the automatic updates:

    Initializing installation... done!
Install the update of security Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 for Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP (KB974417) (update 1 of 1)...

    Here is the result:

Some updates not can be installed.
The following updates have not can be installed:
A security update Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 for Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP (KB974417)

This is the only notification I receive the updates failed. I think it's because the link to the installer of windows has been removed by the software Windows Installer Cleanup.

How can I correct this situation?

    Kind regards

  • H8 - 1520t: how to do a clean install of windows 10 on another drive?

    Hi all.

Today, I decided to make the transition to windows 10. I want to do a clean install, however, because I recently had an SSD and install the OS on it instead of on my hard drive. First of all, I even need my product key to do a clean install on a new drive? I made a clone of my C: dirve just in case something goes wrong, cordially. My SSD is 100% empty and has 110GB available on this subject, but my main hard drive has about 400 GB of stuff on it, so cloning my drive for the SSD drive is out of the picture.

So basically what I want to know is this: 1. do I need to have my windows key to do a clean install of windows 10 8.1 of windows on a different drive.

2 if not, how to do a clean install on a new drive

    3. If I need, how can I get it?

    Thank you all

The simplest solution would be to save the data that you want to keep on an external hard drive, then remove this data and programs from the old hard drive so that only the BONE remains.  From there use migration software from your manufacturer SSD to clone the old drive to the new SSD using a USB to SATA.

The Windows key is embedded in the BIOS and will be recognized by the computer on any installs.  It would be desirable to collect your key, just in case, using Belarc Advisor, which gives you all kinds of info on your computer.  Do this before doing anything.

    http://www.Belarc.com/free_download.html

Share your drive and be sure that it is operational.  Now you can perform a new installation of the upgrade of Windows 10 using an ISO bootable.  See step 5 or 6 of this tutorial:

    http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2267-Windows-10-upgrade-installation.html#step3

I get this error code: 0 x 80070052.  When I plugged in Seagate FreeAgent drive (external hard drive), I got this error message.  I use Mircorsoft Vista

    Thanks for your help

    Hello

    1. What is the error message with the error code mentioned?
2 is this specific problem on the external drive Seagate FreeAgent?
    3. other USBs work?
    4. you are the administrator of this computer?

, Note 1: Try again with a different USB port and see if that helps:
Note 2: Try the same external drive on another computer and see if it works.

Method 1: Try to format the drive and then connect and see if it helps:
Right-click on the external hard drive and click Format.

Method 2: You can run a disk check to see if there are drive errors that can cause this problem.

You can read the following article to complete the checkdisk.

Important: Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost
