  If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget what you have (no XP media required).

  I thing the problem is related to Internet Explorer. Try to see (the Internet Explorer menu) if in the display menu, the Zoom is set to 100%, the text size is set to medium and style is set to the default style.
