  If you use Windows 7, try the following.

  Click on the Start Menu and select Control Panel.  Open programs and features, click on "Windows turn features on or off" and remove the tick in the box next to Internet Explorer.  Click Yes and then click OK, and then restart the laptop.

  OK, so, this problem has nothing to do with modules or extensions. I tried everything to implement options to stop bing to appear in a new tab when I opened. Then I went on other options. Here is how I fixed it.

  Open a new tab and in the address bar type: subject: config, click the button that says: I promise I'll be careful. in the search bar, type: newtab is the third option down that says searchinnewtabeenabledbyuser. Double-click on it and where it says 'true', ' false '. Restart firefox. your problem should be solved. Hope this helps other users of firefox extremely frustrated. Mozilla! Wake up!   What is the operating system of the computer you are printing from?
