I removed AVG and installed Avast, BUT the computer is slow, and I see a lot of files AVG still in the computer. How can I get rid of AVG? I did a search and found 269 files related to avg! I tried to delete them one by one, but some of them I get a message that Windows can not remove this file. Help!
DON'T waste your time trying to manually delete the files! In addition to being inefficient, you run the risk to delete system files, thus causing real damage to your system.
You must run the AVG Remover tool, which can be found here:If you want to help to improve your performance, you should start a new thread in the performance and Maintenance section. -
I was using an older version of FF because newer versions have messed up the private browsing and I had to decide if I wanted to navigation tab. I went to a newer version, because many sites does not work with the older version.
I went to Tools - tabs and checked what I used to use do not get the navigation tabs. Does not work.
Please tell me how to get rid of tabbed browsing and how to move back to a private and regular navigation without opening a new tab/window.
If I can't get rid of tabbed browsing, I guess I'll mess with an older version.
Digital_Gaia:
Never heard of a case where you could do... However! I found an add-on rather orderly, that you can use to open a new tab in a private browsing mode.

The new default browser is called ask.com and it showed up after I installed a program to download faster. I uninstalled the new program from my computer and add0ons, but it is still throw me back to new default browser even after I installed firefox four times. It's irriating and it just doesn't seem to go away. How can I get rid of him without losing bookmarks and information?
You can use the SearchReset extension to reset preferences to default values.
Note that the SearchReset extension runs only once and then uninstalls automatically, so it will not appear on the page "> Firefox Add-ons" (topic: addons).
You can do a search on the topic: config a page to ask.com

There are several tabs such as; div #_GPLIT & #cont div, etc... It is very annoying, and it does not close. Please help me.

There is an ornate, colorful background on the header portion of my browser behind my toolbars since I upgraded. It makes it very difficult to read tabs and everything. How can I get rid of him? I certainly didn't he choose or change the appearance. When I go to 'appearance' there is no option to change this. It changes just under the tabs.

When I open a new window or click a link that opens a new window, the new window has two blue bars along the top of the screen. The top bar is the one that I expect to see with the firefox logo, the name of the Web looking at page and the reduce, enlarge, close buttons. The second bar, below, has a tab orange on the left side who says "Firefox" with an arrow pointing downwards and then on the right side has him minimize, maximize and close buttons. These buttons are the same buttons on the blue bar to the top do. Below the second blue bar is the normal toolbar, but the upstream and downstream buttons do not work. How can I get rid of the second blue bar. He began to appear after the last update I did last week.

How can I get rid of the new tab
I like the way I was put in place, and all of a sudden it is changed without asking me for it. My home page has been Super Start and when I opened a new tab it says Super Start and it was my home page. Now, it says new tab and my home page is a bunch of GREAT photos of my favorites, and when I remove some that it continues just appeared with more. I'm not so how can I get rid of him?
Oh, OK, I forgot SuperStart.
If you are not already using the extension Classic theme restaurateur, please ignore this.
To get the SuperStart on your new tab page, users post comments on his page have suggested a few different approaches:
(1) set extensions.superstart.set.browser.newtab.url true -if you are not familiar with using about: config, here's how:
(A) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press enter/return. Click on the button promising to be careful.
(B) in the search above the list box, type or paste super and make a pause so that the list is filtered
(C) If extensions.superstart.set.browser.newtab.url preference is false, double-click on it to change for real
Then quit Firefox and start it up again (according to critics).
(2) use the extension new tab override the value: superstart
I have already mentioned earlier, this option, but it would be rather on: newtab on the extension Options page.
