  • How can I get rid of Yahoo Search. If you do not have an answer that really works, I have to get rid of Firefox!

Simple enough... I want to kill Yahoo search and never see him again!

Unless there is interference from external software or an add-on, Firefox to remember your preferences for your default search engine and can hide the Yahoo Search bar icon. The real Yahoo search engine plugin (XML file) is located in the Firefox program folder and will be restored whenever you update Firefox, so it is not used that much by physically removing.

As Jon mentioned previously, you can select your default search engine and hide the buttons "one-off" undesirable in the dialog box Preferences here (either):

    • '3-bar' menu > Preferences > search
    • Firefox menu > Preferences > search

Now, why would this setting may not be honored? Check if you have picked up additional modules Spigot or a pipe or other elements of mystery. You can open the page modules using either:

    • Command + shift + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click on Plugins. Here you can set the non-recognized or non-essential plugins 'Never turn on'.

In the left column, click Extensions. Here, you can disable and remove unwanted or unrecognized extensions often.

Often, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

Note: If you got these add-ons in your Firefox, see if you can find how they got on your system. Usually, they accompany something "free" you downloaded and installed, sometimes disclosed and sometimes hidden, and if you don't clean that , too, your Firefox problem may return.

  • How can I get rid of Claro search? He turned to Google.

How can I get rid of this very delicate malware? It has hi-jacked and Google search according to the very limited online feedback, it is very difficult to get rid of and "advice" often try to sell me an antivirus software. I tried the obvious things: uninstall - searched and no sign of her, and then controls, no sign of him, then do tools > Options > settings > search engines and return default Google and guess what... Claro still Hi-jcks Google and is apparently very busy reading this? Help...

Thanks a lot Gordon for your very quick response and recommendation. I don't know how Claro exceeded my NORTON antivirus, but it did. Embarrassed, after hours of almost panic, I think I got rid of Claro due to the intervention of my wife! She suggested restoration! Before smile you, I have been a prisoner of MSN since the days of Babbage and have always found that RESTORE never worked but this time he did!  I had a look at RESTORE points earlier and noticed a glut of Microsoft "Security emergency" updates, I went beyond 7 days and after 7 minutes, I was incredibly «back to normal from Microsoft» I now check these security updates "Urgent" and install them manually - I can't be sure if this is how Claro snook in but remember that Sherlock Holmes said about the search for truth? Interestingly, I read that Gmail stops then how is it that they know about it and my blank mail does not have this malware? However, on your recommendation, it is fully appreciated and kept in reserve (only free for 24 hours - I'll, "keep my powder dry!" for now at least). I reported my findings to Norton. Our technicians use AVG and often tell me to abandon NORTON, I fit and arrived next renewal Bill is going to say goodbye - I guess that the loyalty is blind? My only concern is is that Claro mess with its records... I can't be sure if Claro is dormant and waiting to be resurrected by the time, or "trigger". Aside: you don't say that you are a student, if you're looking for a qualification, keep up the good work and best wishes for your future. To paraphrase Darwin: "is not intelligence that leads to success, it's the ability to adapt", I benefited by adapting to the advice of my technophobe wife, now apparently I have her other pair of shoes! Yours gratefully, O.

  • How can I get rid of a search engine that took the home page?

Search.US.com took my hone page and everything else he can. I tried all the suggestions allotted to me by the help section. I went up to delete cookies. It's very invasive. I looked to re-establish the system but have few options for recovery points and they do not include the download of search engine. I removed the add on it came with as well. I had removed the search engine in Add/Remove programs and was stupid when he asked if I wanted the restored default settings. I said no. I fear that I am pretty stupid when it comes to software. I hope someone can help me. Thank you for your time in this matter. PS I put what I thought was relevant in the bottom box. I had not seen this before. I tried to change it, but could not.

First of all, you should be able to reset your home page in the following dialog box:

Orange Firefox button or classic menu Tools > Options > general > getting started section

If that restores the next time, you have probably some other cleanup to do.

If you prefer to use the built-in Firefox homepage, this module can help rewire the Google search field:

  • How the * can I get rid of Yahoo search - Firefox still refuses my changes at the next startup.

    Work in Win10.
Firefox refuses to keep the changes I made to remove Yahoo.
Remove all browsers except Google - next time you start it again Yahoo!
No other browser has been replaced, with the exception of Yahoo.

It's very 'big brother', which I don't expect Firefox.

After spending hours fighting it, I'm at the "tip" of let - pun.

It seems you might have a bit of malicious software on this PC. I see an extension named Hub of results which is known as bearer of Malware.
Why don't you see if removing "garbage" that gets rid of your problem with Yahoo search 'come back' at the next startup, which is a symptom of Malware.

When finished remove that, please install this extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/ - as a final step to get some reset preferences to default values. Note - that extension will run during installation and then disappear.

  • How can I get rid of yahoo and Pogo toolbars. They are not in my Windows XP programs, but they are on my firefox home page and interfere with my use of gmail...

The two toolbars have uninstall instructions in their help on the toolbars section. I pasted in the section of troubleshooting below. When I try to find these programs in the menu START, in my settings or in the "Add/Remove Program" section of my control panel, they aren't there. The two toolbars have pre-eminence over gmail, which is my favorite of the navigation toolbar, etc. So even if I can do what I do, I have to firstly my way through the face of Pogo page and then the intrusion of louts on the websites to spawn. Why can't I get rid of these two toolbars? I never intentionally asked for them and I still don't know how they were allowed to be there, but it is clear that I must have done.

Go to: view > toolbars to see if they are there. If they are, you can uncheck the.

  • How can I get rid of the search results?

After that I did a search on Google, the site is there with my other frequently used sites. Once I have selected the site I want to get rid of, I click on the star of the address and select Delete bookmark and then finished. Nothing happens. I want to get rid of these sites I access only once and no longer need.

It is not a bookmark, it is a history entry. Here are two ways to remove things from a more selectively than the feature clear recent history:

    • Arrow down for access to the auto-suggest list address bar and press the delete key. Note that the URL is displayed in the address bar until you go up or down arrow again, but history entry will be deleted to appear on the menu drop down.
    • Use the Library dialog box (menu history > show history)

    Please:

    1. tap three bar icon at the top right of your screen while in firefox
    2. Tap Settings
    3. tap customize
    4. tap search
    5. now type in on Google
    6. by default, then press set.

  • How can I get rid of Yahoo when I open a new tab?

My homepage is set to Firefox, but when I open a new tab, the tab is not Firefox with all of my most visited sites! It's Yahoo.

You can check the suspicious extensions or recently installed unknowns.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe
