How can I get Safari working again?

I've just updated my software yesterday (like being invited for a very long time) and today the 9.1.1 safari (OSX 10.9.5) repeatedly crashes on my iMac. This never happened before yesterday. I've been reluctant to update because I thought that I should upgrade to El Capitan at the same time and had heard some bad reviews about matters of iPhoto on El Capitan. Finally, I've updated without the upgrade. Now, I get constant messages ' content Web Safari unexpectedly quit ' how can I Safari works again without upgrading to El Capitan? Here is a screenshot of what happens when I check what has been updated. I'm lost!

Force Quit Safari (command + option + ESC keys). Then restart the SHIFT key now.

If that doesn't fix it, download and runMalwareBytes. Malwarebytes was developed by one of our colleagues here to ASC. He received rave reviews and is on the more proven anti-malware for Mac software.

EDIT: You wrote: I've updated without upgrading

It is not possible. Please check the Apple menu > about this Mac to see what OS X version you are using and the Safari menu > on Safari to check the version.
