How can I get Windows XP without knowing the password?

I received a laptop from a deceased parent and it has two user accounts and I do not know the password either.  No one in the family knows them either.  I tried CTRL DEL twice to try to get to the construction in the account administrator, but they may have set up a password for it too.  Is there anyway to get into windows on this laptop.

I have a bit of computer knowledge, but very little.  I've read about programs to unlock a password but it seems that I should be able to get into Windows to use.  Please help if you can!
Thank you

    Hello

We are sorry for the inconvenience, and we understand the frustration when things don't go the way they're supposed to.

If you forget the administrator password, and you do not have a password reset disk or another administrator account, you will not be able to reset the password. If there is no other user account on the computer, you will not be able to connect to Windows and you will need to re - install Windows.

Now, in order to perform a custom installation of Windows 7, you must first download the ISO image from the link below.

Download Windows 7 Disk Images (ISO files)

Note: A custom installation doesn't keep your programs, files or settings. Backup your current Windows installation. Because you will make important changes on your computer, you should always back up before doing so. It is strongly recommended.

    Hello

You can change the settings for windows update to check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them.

Change how Windows installs or notifies you of updates

You can also check in the update to the update history recently failed, double-click the update to get the error code and let us know.

To do this, click on start and type netplwiz in the search field and press ENTER. When the user account control window appears, click on continue. In the window user accounts that appears, verify that your user account is enabled. Clearly, users must enter a user name and password to use this computer option, and then click OK. Provide the password to your user account when you are prompted, restart the computer. Vista will automatically log on with your user account.

  • How can I get my email without entering a password every time?

It seems that now I have to enter my password every time I use Tbird to download my email. Previous to this problem, two things:
    (1) my e-mail account had been compromised, so I changed the password with my ISP.

    (2) I tried to use a master password to Tbird Options > Security and it is a pain. So I decided that I didn't want to use a master password and wanted to return to my e-mail downloads how did before, so I disabled the master password.

Options > password security guard is populated by several email addresses and password. I want to keep them intact - but if I want to change the password, or delete it, the instructions indicate that all passwords will be lost. Do I need them in this place? I find that things don't quite work if I delete them the strike.

I always get guests to enter a password when I use Tbird - my ISP password, it turns out that, not for my master password. I'm confused and want just that he make it simple again.

If I want to change the password, or remove, the instructions say that all passwords will be lost.

I don't know what are the instructions you're talking about, but I don't think that is correct. See
    http://KB.mozillazine.org/Master_password#Removing_your_master_password

I always get guests to enter a password when I use Tbird

When you get the password there is a checkbox to remember the password.

  • I just installed a new drive faster. How can I get windows live mail from the old drive to the new drive

Where are the files stored WindowsLiveMail?  Under what article directory.  I have "tons" of e-mail messages stored on the old disk and need to move them to the new drive faster.  How can I do?

The location of the store folder, which contains all the messages, calendars and the account settings, is configurable by the user. The default location is
    C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail

If the installer of WLMail is a record storage in the default location, it normally acknowledge and take into use if. The only user that would be required should reinstate saved passwords. If this is to succeed, the old and new installations of WLMail normally must be exactly the same construction. The storage location must be in place in the default location on the new drive before installing WLMail. Also, the current user must be the owner of the record store to its new location.

If the old drive is installed on the same computer as the new facility in WLMail, you can point the Import Wizard to import messages to the old folder of the store. They will find under storage folders into imported folders.

  • How can I get Windows Vista to stop the shortening of long file names?

I copy the files with long names in .zip files. Whenever I drag a drag the file to .zip (also with a long name) file, it renames the .zip file in a much shorter name. This only happens on my computer, my wife can perform the same task that I'm with her computer, and it won't rename the file name. We're both under Windows Vista. Is there a way I can get to rename the files? Thank you!

Is there a way to open these files in Windows 7?  Is there a low-cost program (shareware)? to download to be able to view these files?  Most of the research "Readme.WRI" I did take me to advertise for "scanning" products... not file readers.

Original title: the file format of external hard drive is the RAW and not NTFS. How can I get Windows 7 to read RAW hard drives without having to format the hard drive due to important work on this subject?

I put the hard drive on an XP and Vista machine and can read the hard drive, but not with Windows 7

    Hi Zling,

It works on other OS? When did you finally read the disc and with what OS? If you can read the drive and make a backup of the data on this subject, I you suggest to backup the data on the drive and then put it in using the NTFS file system.

  • How can I get Windows 7 Pro 32 bit automatically connect to drives mapped to the startup?

How can I get Windows 7 Pro 32 bit automatically connect to drives mapped to the startup?

    Hello

It should connect as much as the other computers with their car are on the account users are properly configured, security passwords are defined and firewall do not block.

If the system is only yours and there is no need of local network security, enable the guest account on all computers, give them all the permissions and there will be less to worry about connection mapped, but local drive without security.

PS Ce preceding is based on cable connections. If the connections are wireless, it's another story.

Due to the maturity of the wireless adapter and their support through the OS, automatic connection could not occur.

Wireless is great, but most of us try to sneak out of it the uses it was not designed for.

  • How can I get Windows 7 to recognize my NAS drive as a file server?

I just bought a new desktop computer with Windows 7 (the first time I used it at home).  I have three drives NAS; one of them is an of Maxtor Central axis.  I use the Central axis as a file server, it has Word, Excel and other Office files in addition to my music library and a handful of videos.  Whenever I try to open a document, say Word, Windows 7 does not show the Maxtor under my network.  It shows one of the other drives NAS (Iomega).  When I right click on the network, click "Open in a new window", I see the Maxtor drive. However when I click on it, Windows will open Windows Media Player.  I see only three songs, which aren't even mine; I think they were samples placed on the disk by an application.

Other machines on my network (a computer laptop PC and Mac) continue to be able to see the of Maxtor Central axis.

I can open my documents giving the fully qualified network path "\\Mca-054e16\Public", but it's a pain.  I can't map a drive letter for the drive; I just get the small circle who constantly.

How can I get Windows 7 see Maxtor Central Axis like a file server and not only a media server?

Thanks in advance for any help that anyone may be able to provide,

    Nolan

    Hello

    ·        How do you set up the network?

    ·        Have you used a Maxtor software?

The Seagate knowledge base indicates that his NASwas released before the release of Windows 7. Therefore, it has not been tested in this environment and is not supported by Technical Support. http://Seagate.custkb.com/Seagate/CRM/selfservice/search.jsp?docid=211931&NewLang=en&HiLite=Maxtor+central+axis+Windows7#note
