  • How can I delete windows.old folder without losing the hibernation file.

    Mr President.

I recently refreshed my system and a unwanted windows .old file has been generated and it consumes 11 GB of my disk space. So Iwould like to delete this file but the HP support assistant gave me a warning that I should not remove hibernation and sleep file, otherwise I would lose this facility of my system. Thanks for mentioning the steps I have to do to remove the same.

    Yours faithfully,

    R_rk06

    Hello

Folder Windows.Old has nothing to do with the Hibernate. If uou wishes, you can remove it using cleaning system, not normal to delete, to explore. The following steps see the way in which:

    1. Open Disk Cleanup by clicking on the button start . In the search box, type and then disk cleanup in the list of results, click Disk Cleanup.

If you are prompted to choose a drive, click the drive that you have just installed Windows on and then click OK.

    2. In the dialog box disk cleanup, on the Disk Cleanup tab, click on clean up system files.

If you are again prompted to choose a drive, click the drive that you have just installed Windows on and then click OK.

    3. Select the check box Previous Windows installations and the other check boxes for files that you want to remove, and then click OK.

    4. In the message that appears, click on delete files.

    Hello

Disk Cleanup is the way to delete Windows.old. I don't understand why you have questions...

Try right click on your drive C:\ COMPUTER\THIS PC from the desktop, then select Properties.

Then click on disk cleanup... After you run it of scan, click FILE SYSTEM to the bottom of the window.

This will launch another analysis of the SYSTEM FILES... Windows.Old should be here...

  • How can I recover windows.old?

Two could not reinstall attempts left me with: windows.old, windows.old.001, windows.old.002

You want to retrieve windows.old only so that I can access the application files and anything that can be saved. I have the original Vista Ultimate disc and a disc of 'F' on the disk. An attempt to copy the file produces only an icon with a 1 KB file.

Looking for the best way to recover this file on a CD, or possibly a USB and including how to acquire these application data so that they can be seen with the program proper.

  • How can I load Windows applications in Vista?

Can someone help me... As indicated in my username, I am new Mac, Fusion and Vista.

I have loaded successfully Fusion on my iMac with Vista Home Premium, but now I need to install a single application of Windows on the computer by using the Vista operating system. I need to be able to copy / paste between mac and virtual machine.

Can someone tell me how 1. I charge the only windows app? and 2. How to set up the two O/S allow copy and paste between the two?

    Thanks for your help

I do not use Fusion but VMware Workstation, which is actually the equivalent of windows. When you have your period of vista VM, there should be an option of drop-down menu in the menu bar of Fusion as VM (perhaps?) where one of the options will install vmtools

  • How can I load Windows XP on my new computer - disk allows us to click install.

We have updated our computer to a laptop and I am trying to install our Windows XP via the CD that we have.  When the CD menu opens it you can not click on the link to "install Windows XP".  Does that mean that I can't install it on my new laptop and I have to buy it again?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Don't panic quite yet.  You cannot remove Windows from the Add/Remove screen.  What you have probably deleted, has been "Windows XP Service Pack 3" (or maybe service pack 2).  The computer must always start Windows normally (remove the CD).  Now, go to Windows Update and download critical updates, you are offered.

It is hard to tell just what kind of CD do you have from your description.  What it says on the CD itself?

If it's a retail XP CD (and it could be, depending on the shop - I've seen a number of messages from people who discover that "the shop" installed a counterfeit Windows version), you can use it for your laptop, but given your level of expertise, you probably would be better served by taking the laptop and the CD in a good computer repair shop (not a type BigBoxStore or rather GeekSquad).  Depending on what is on the laptop now (?) you probably need to install drivers for devices in addition to Windows, and you need to get those of the manufacturer of the laptop.

If the CD is a CD recovery, then as No Mo, it is indicated, it will not work on your laptop.
