The registry key for the associations of html and URLs of firefox have been corrupted so I scoured their in regedit (at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxHTML and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxURL) and them deleted entirely, then redid them by clicking on the make default firefox button in the options.

  Go to Tools-> options and on the Security tab click on passwords saved. This will give you a list of sites that you have saved a password. Just find Facebook and delete this entry.

  (1) by design, as it has always been with all versions of Windows, press copy the entire screen, including the wallpaper desktop, in the Clipboard (iow, in RAM).  By pressing + of only copies the active window to the Clipboard.  To view the screenshot, open a graphics program, such as MS Paint and press + V.  This will paste the contents of the Clipboard (your screenshot) in the file open and allows you to view or save it as a file for later use.

  You probably have Windows 7 Home Premium - Microsoft has removed the ability to backup Windows 7 Home Premium network. You must have Pro/Ultimate to do a network backup or install a 3rd party backup program that can backup network.

  For purposes of development, I have several versions of the Java runtime on my 64 bit Windows 7 computer. I try to keep the number of JDK and JRE installation to a minimum and I want Firefox to use JRE 1.7.0_21 (32 bit) because this happened with a version of JDK, I am forced to use another application.

  Firefox however use JRE 1.6.0_31 and is correctly reported as non-secure. It offers me the upgrade option, but I don't want to download and install a different JRE since I already said 1.7.0_21 installed JRE. I would prefer very just to be able to point Firefox so that JRE. I don't see an option to select a different JRE installed however.

  I tried to manually edit the file pluginreg.dat (I know, it says do not edit...) by changing the entries of JRE 1.6 and 1.7 of the JRE, but on reboot, my changes have been overwritten and was back at the old JRE. So I can't view some web sites (also company/internal) without having to change to any browsers.

  Please let me know how I can make Firefox use the already installed JRE 1.7.

  Firefox scans the registry to find the location of the plugins.
  If Firefox detects a plugin and not the other, then that means that the other Java plugin is not having a corresponding registry key.

  Hi, go to Options (gear) - in the 3 menu bar unless you moved, > Advanced tab, then the tab updated and you can set your preferences there.

  However, I must stress that in the interests of safety you really have to use the latest version.

  I went to the control panel->-> accounts to manage user accounts. My username is there, and it clearly says 'Administrator' on my user. Clearly, it's a lie, because when I go into c:\program files (x 86)- and try to manually delete a folder in there, I told myself I need administrator access and he refuses to allow me to delete the folder.
  How can I fix it so I never see these stupid message on the type administrator access boxes ever? Please don't tell me to disable UAC because then I can't use certain other features in windows 8 as apps from the store. I want a comprehensive solution which gives me total control over my own computer without limitations.

  I understand that as an administrator, you try to delete a folder, as is permission from the administrator.

  I apologize for the inconvenience, but need to worry, we're here to help and guide you in the right direction.

  To make changes in the C drive , you will need to take ownership of all files and folders.

  Here are the steps to change the ownership and permissions of files and folders:

  (a) right click on the file or folder, click Properties, and then click the Security tab.

  (b) click on Advancedand then click the owner tab.

  (c) click on Editand then do one of the following:

  (d) If you want to take ownership of the contents of the folder, select the checkbox replace the owner of sub containers and objects .

  (e) click OKand then click Yes when you receive the following message is displayed:

  (f) you're not allowed to read the contents of directory folder name. Do you want to replace the the directory permissions with permissions granting you full control?

  (g) all permissions will be replaced if you click Yes.
  Note folder_name is the name of the folder you want to take charge.

  (h) click OK, and then reapply the permissions and security settings that you want for the folder and its contents.

  Additional considerations

  · An administrator can take ownership of any file on the computer.

  · Affecting the ownership of a file or a folder might require that raise you your permissions using user access control.
