There are major differences between the two views and unfortunately the update of the GPU driver will not change anything.

  What you could do is change some color settings in the Intel GMA Manager. It is found in the Panel. Choose the color correction and check if changes will improve the sharpness.

  Look closely.  It should be under file > processing of multiple files.  Make sure you don't overwrite your original files.

  If a single file, make a copy of the file, create your image in a separate layer and reduce the opacity.  Then flatten image and save it.
