Right-click of the battery icon at the bottom right of your screen and select "power options".

Click on "Change plan settings" under whatever plan chosen power.

From there, you can set the time it takes before your computer goes to sleep, ranging from '1 minute' to 'never '.

  • How can I make my computer run more efficiently?

    Hello

Okay, so I asked recently how I could make my computer faster. I have a Compaq Presario SR1601NX with HP ha17 monitor. It runs Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 3. I installed CCleaner and Defraggler on my computer. I use CCleaner at least twice a week, especially after using the internet. I also run Defraggler at least twice a month. In addition, I have Microsoft Security Essentials, that I keep up to date, as I do with Windows Firewall, automatic updates and Virus protection. I went through and remove all programs that I don't use, and I run chkdsk, find no problem. After you run CCleaner and Defraggler, my computer seems a bit faster. However, after some time, it is once more quite slow. Anyone know anything else I can do to make my computer run faster and more efficiently. I don't want to clutter up my machine with random programs. I'm also looking for things I can do for free. I prefer to buy a new computer than to invest money in my only current. It is just better to buy a new one? If so, what kind of computer should I get in? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

CCleaner is a program to eliminate the stuff that you don't need, and so
save you disk space; It really doesn't do anything to improve
performance. Maybe defragment the hard drive can speed things up
some, but how effective is it is depends on how you use your computer.

With very few exceptions, all the programs that are designed to speed up your
computer is nothing but snake oil powder and are likely to be a problem.
I recommend that avoid you them like the plague.

Without a lot more details, it is very difficult to know what is causing your
problem, but maybe you run modern software and your former
Material XP - era is really too slow for her.
With Windows XP support this ending coming April, purchase a new
computer and run the latest version of Windows (Windows 8)
probably makes the most sense. It will give you a modern material and a
    supported Windows version.

  • Remote Desktop failed, how can ensure me that this will not happen?

    Hello

I have a computer that is put in place in a holiday home in another State I want to be able to access through Windows Remote Desktop.  The computer connects wireless to the Internet via a router Linksys WRT160Nv3.  I had to check out the computer configured with Remote Desktop and it worked very well for many months.  I was able to access it very well.  All of a sudden this weekend, which coincides with my father, bringing a new laptop in the House (and the wireless network), the first computer remote desktop connection has stopped working.  I've trained my father on the phone to go in the settings of the router (web interface) and change the Port Range Forwarding IP address since the old internal IP address of the desktop to its new IP address remotely, and this fixes the problem.

My question is, how can I avoid this problem does not happen?  Is it possible that I can get the router to always assign the same internal IP address to the same MAC hardware?  Or is there another solution I'm missing?

    Thanks for any help/suggestions.

If the router is capable of a DHCP reservation, then that will solve the problem. It should be under the first tab on the router configuration page. You must acquire the MAC address of the computer, and then assign an IP address. Therefore, it assigns this IP address on the computer only.

Check the synchronization options when you used before Sync and you want to keep the data previously stored on the server.

    • Click on the "Synchronization Options" button at the bottom to select which, for synchronization (Sync Options only affect the first synchronization)

Select this if you want to restore the data from the server:

    Quote your version of Windows.

If the files are download as zip files, then this is your school that provides in this way.  Windows inherently knows how to handle zip files.  She treats them like "compressed" files  Just save the zip file to a folder, and then open Windows Explorer and double-click them.

  • How can I delete files that will not be clear without "permission"?

I have a BACKUP folder on my drive C dating back to 2005, and who comes from another computer (XP). The record contains three, which in turn have subfolders and files. Security of the backup folder hidden controls on all ALLOW bos (inherited from the C drive) and so do its subfolders, but the lowest-level files do not have boxes to ALLOW or REMOVE permissions and add & DELETE buttons are shaded on (inioperable).

I read the information displayed under «I need permission for everything and don't know how to get it...» "dating from fevrier.09 onward and apparently their solution (and probably mine) is not yet available.  I am a Vista Home Premium 32-bit user and agree with comment abouit Vista of those displaying the site in question.

I add my question in the hope that someone, somewhere will respond with something that works for this problem.

    Hi delrayjack,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft answers Community Forums.

Navigate to the directory that contains the file that you want to remove (using the CD command).

Delete the file using the DEL command.

Use the EXIT command to close the command window

Another way to delete the folders is the mode of WinRe.

-To start the computer into WinRE mode, insert the Vista CD in the CD tray, restart the computer.

  • HOW CAN I MAKE MY COMPUTER BURN CDS AGAIN?

I TRIED TO BURN CD, BUT FOR SOME REASON ANY, WHENEVER I HAVE IT TRY STARTS TO BURN, BUT THEN I GET AN X NEXT TO ALL THE SONGS AND THE ERROR MESSAGE ME SAID TO TRY TO CLEAN THE CD USING A NEW ONE OR DO BURN AT A LOWER SPEED AND I ALREADY DID ALL THAT BUT IT STILL THE SAME OR SOMETIMES WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER STOPS ON ITS OWN OR IT ME SAID CONNECT A BURNER AND RESTART THE PLAYER... WHAT SHOULD I DO?

    Hello

Please do not type in capital letters because it's difficult to read and considered to be shouting.

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

Used speed, the actual brand of discs, burning and if file Live or mastered all come into
play. A cleaning disc can sometimes help.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.

    ===========================================

This troubleshooting could not help if there is alignment and/or wear issues however it
    a shot.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
