How can I move a good copy of Windows XP Edition family of my G drive to a bad copy of Windows XP Pro onDrive C (startup disk) without destroying all the data and programs I have on these two discs?

I have a computer that I needed an extra hard drive with a lot more memory that I had on this subject.  I had Windows XP Home Edition on it and was very satisfied with the system.  I came back from the computer repair store and my old hard drive was drive G, with all the old data still on it and a (used) and more C drive was in the unit and it's now my boot drive and I not paid no attention to it, he soiled by Windows XP Professional with service pack two.  I really did not notice the difference and I started to put several other new programs that I need on this computer and I went to work.  After over a long period, I now had a notice that it wasn't a valid Windows product.  I wondered of course that with Microsoft, because I had all my documents, my records, (now lost) and the key that was on the side of my computer.

As I continued to find out what was going on, while doing a search for information on the drives, I found the original Windows program, I had, now my question is, how can I move on my C drive, while MY ORIGINAL Windows XP Home Edition causes my computer to start?  Most of the programs that I run is not compatible with Windows 7 or Vista even, and it cost me a fortune to buy all of these programs again.

What can I do?

Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the forums!

If you have a full backup of the old Blackberry, use this .ipd file to restore only the contacts on the new device.

If your contacts are up to date in Outlook do a one-way Outlook for contacts device synchronization.

A few days ago, I bought a mac mini and I transferred all my data and programs with time machine: all programs have been updated but iMovie (7.1.4)... However, it seems that, to update to the latest version, I have to pay to download on Appstore: is it possible? what I am doing wrong?

If it were a new mac mini, you need already installed 10.1 iMovie.  Otherwise, but you already have iMovie 9 registered version to your Apple ID, you can upgrade to version 10 for free, but if (as it appears) is an earlier version then you have to buy version 10.

  • How can I move (not simply copy) folders/files to an internal hard drive to another hard drive internal?

I just finished the construction of a new office with 2 internal hard drives: a Crucial SSD of 128 MB and a 1 TB Samsung HDD. I loaded my programs commonly used on the SSD more fast and Windows 7 (64-bit) and to use a lot more big HARD drive to store data and programs less commonly used. I transferred all my data in my old desktop using Windows Easy Transfer, but it would only allow me to transfer data to my system drive / C: (SSD) boot. So now, I want to move my data files on my D: drive. Windows will allow me to move the folders and files on an external drive, but apparently only will allow me to copy on the D: drive. Which means I have to delete all the files copied from the C: drive to D:. This certainly isn't a huge problem, but I wonder if there is a way to just move all the files, rather than copy/delete. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you!

Why don't you just cut & paste?

Open Windows Explorer, select the files you want.  If you want to select all files in a given folder, press Ctrl + A (this will select all THE files & folders).

Press the ALT on your keyboard and you will see the Edit menu (see the screenshot below).

    Select "cut".

Now, go to your destination folder and press the ALT key again.  Click on the Edit menu.

    Select "Paste".

  • How can I move a folder for every user of C: / continue on another internal drive?

    Hello

I had a good read of the site, looked at a lot of pages & get more & more irritated.

I recently acquired a new PC. I opted for a 128 GB SSD to run the operating system & some programs that use a lot of processing (editing)

However, the PC also has a 2nd internal drive (3 TB) that I intend to store ALL my files on.

I don't want windows to record everything in my C: / drive, as it's a SSD & small...

I found this thread http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-files/win-7-wont-accept-change-to-default-download/9d9c90c0-e2c8-40c9-9b0e-fa2ee17086ae that looks almost like what I want, but not quite...

I want to move all the users on the c: / drive. In fact, I want to spend what is not a program!

What I have to do a folder using the method shown in this thread - i.e. do it for each of the files in the folder of each user?

    I hope not :(

Also, I heard that SSDS have a finite number of times that you can record in them.

Help, please. I have spent rather a lot of money on this machine & it allows you to respond to my needs, instead of frustrating me as much as my old vista machine did well...

Thank you for what you can offer in ordinary English.

You cannot move the 'Users' all things, but you can redirect "My Documents" to another drive... See here...

  • How can I update my Windows XP system on a larger hard drive and keep all my data and programs?

    New hard drive.

I'm going to install a new hard drive of 250 GB. The old man has only 20 GB. I have Windows XP SP3 and my PC is a Dell Dimension 8100. How can I reset my new HD with all the programs, and what is the correct order?

Use Clonezilla to copy the old drive to the new drive. Once complete, go into the bios and set to boot from the new drive and then save by pressing F10.

Once you get to Windows, you can configure one or more partitions on the empty space of the new drive with disk management. In addition, you can now format your old drive if you wish.

    Hello

    Roger wrote:

... If you need to take the party date to a date column and the time of anonther part, then you must first convert them to a string, concatenate them and convert them to date.

You don't need to do this.  What you have described is a way to do it, but this isn't the only way.

If d1 and d2 are the two DATEs, you can get year, month and day of d1 combined with hours, minutes, and seconds from d2 liike this:

    TRUNC (d1) and (d2 - TRUNC (d2))

Nesting TO_DATE and TO_CHAR in Oracle, is almost never the best way to do anything.  Oracle provides many functions (for example, TRUNC) to manipulate dates, but also of DATE arithmetic.

  • How can I move files from backup to backup of Vista on a new external drive?

I use Vista and have a few backup files made by the Vista Backup utility that is currently stored in a USB 2.0 external drive.

I bought a bigger external drive and I want to transfer data from the old disk to the new external drive and I tried:

    1. fixing of the external drive and select all (mediaid.bin incl.)-> copy / paste
2 copy data from the old disk on the desktop and then copy from the office to the new drive

Both disks are formatted as NTFS. It seems to transfer ok, but when I checked the data on the new external drive, it is much LESS than the data on the old disk (disk right click computer-> properties). I think that Vista is resistant to climb a backup of files. There was no error prompt.

    ·         What kind of back up as you perform?

    ·         It is the complete system to the top or you have backed up a few system files?

I suggest you to consult the links below in the case where you did a full system backup by using the backup and restore feature of Windows 7.

    Hello

Using the hidden administrator account (or any Admin) will allow you to access all the files on the computer.

You can try to fix it with Safe Mode - repeatedly press F8 as you bootup.

Some programs such as the Google Updater (if you added the toolbar Google, Chrome or Google Earth) has been
    known to cause this problem.

  • Can I get the Win 7 on a hard drive with multiple partitions without erasing all the data on the disk

I have a HP p6310f with a 1 TB hard drive partitioned into two partitions.  One I have a Win 7 OS, which becomes more and more corrupt.  I would get a new version on the other partition and keep the old version until I don't know that I have restored all the programs and data properly, just in case I need something and are struggling to rebuild.  Is this possible?  When I tried to install the recovery disks, they said that the entire disk, not just the score, would be erased.  This seems a bit silly, but I am very worried about losing key information and programs that I am not able to restore.

    Hello

If you use HP recovery disks to reinstall the operating system, you are right that they reformatted the whole HARD drive before installing the operating system.  As far as I know, has no way around that.  The only thing I can suggest is to make sure that you are able to get the installers of any program that you need before you restore the PC and maybe do two backup copies of all your personal data, just to be sure.

On the link below, just select your operating system (Windows 7 32 bit or 64 bit) and verify that you are able to download the drivers and software you need before you reinstall it.  You can always save installers for a writable DVD etc. now and then just to run it from the disk when you want to reinstall.
