  • How can I move all my files with the exception of windows to another drive?

Hi, I have recently built my new PC. I have a 120 GB SSD and a 1 TB HARD drive. I have already installed windows 7 on my SSD and some programs installed on it. When I installed more programs on my HARD drive, program files, and other files stored on my SSD economy. Now I have files for the same program on two separate discs. I don't want that. I would like to have windows itself on my SSD and keep my user files, program files, and everything else on my HARD drive. If anyone knows how to do this, their help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How can I move a compressed file (zipped) on my memory stick?

I can download a "e-book" from loc.gov.  It is sent compressed (zipped).

    How "decompress this file?

How can I move the "file unzipped on my memory stick?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Move the mouse over the file that you downloaded and click the right button of the mouse. You should see a menu that starts:

    • Explore
    • Open
    • Extract all...

If you don't see it, it may be that this is not a .zip file. To check, open the folder that you downloaded it and change the view to details, if necessary. The 'Type' column should say 'compressed (zipped) folder '.  Or change the folder options to show file extensions and make sure that the name of the file ends in .zip.

  • How to search for a specific file on the computer?

Original title: How can I search for a file by name only. For example, to prevent the display of other files that contain the same text.  This was easy to do under XP.

For example, I need to find FILES named xyz*.mdl.  I need to filter all files that CONTAIN "xyz*.mdl" but are note NAMED "xyz*.mdl".

This was easy in XP, but not in "7".

    Help, please.

    Thank you

    Doug

    You can use the syntax:

    filename:xyz * .mdl

Note that file:xyz*.mdl is equivalent to filename:xyz * .mdl, but an additional symbol ~ is necessary with the equivalent of the so-called name: ~ xyz * .mdl to properly manage the wildcard character.  (file name, file and the name are supposed to be the same)

    Hello

You should be able to choose any folder you want to save a file download, the download in your user account folder is the default.

When the download dialog box appears, click the "Save" button.

Should then, open the Save as dialog box. You can navigate to the folder where you want to download the file and click on that folder.

If you do not see the navigation area of the files, click Browse folders down / to the left of the Save as dialog box.

After you have selected the file, click Save to begin the download.

You must select a folder in your user account for the download files.

  • How can I move a few photos of the catalog to another drive?

I use the SSD as my photo viewer is almost full. I plan to buy another drive (a larger HARD drive) to the inactive photos I access regularly.

Once I have move folders with these photos to this other player, how can I say Lightroom where to find them?

In addition, this record will be most of the time. I do a lot of audio recording and need a quiet work environment. Will this be a problem? I guess that LR will show just a '? ' or something beside the photos/folders that are stored on this drive, when it is off? I would only the disk when I need to access these photos, which is rarely.

Step 1. In your operating system, COPY (and not move) the photos on the new disk

Step 2. In Lightroom, point Lightroom to the new location by double-clicking on the folder name and select the location of the folder to update

Step 3. Once you are sure that step 2 has worked properly, then you can remove the phothos in the original drive with your operating system to 100%
