How can I move my address book from the hard drive from an old computer to a new computer?

My old computer running Windows Vista quit on me. I removed the hard drive and plugged into my new computer running Windows 8.1. When I try to start Thunderbird from the old hard drive in order to access my address book, the Thunderbird version just install on the new computer returns to the spot. How can I get to the data in the address book in order to transfer it?
