  • How to contact Microsoft to ask whether there is an updated driver for "Microsoft Virtual WiFi MiniPort adapter"

When I checked the driver on this issue, I found this is version 6.1.7600.16385, dated 21/06/2006.After do a search, he started to download a replacement driver, but as it was not signed I cancelled the download. Then advised to contact Microsoft, which gave the pilot current, to see if there is a subsequent update. My system is Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1, 64-bit on a Toshiba laptop.

I do not pretend that you are worrying.  This is just the beginning post of this thread 'read' other posts from other users who have problems caused by those "fake" like most people 'all in one' driver updating software.  These never really find good "signed" drivers because there are "hundreds" of sites that can "host" similar named driver packages.  These packages can be 'false' or completely "valid" but usually "never verified."   Microsoft "allows us" to use their software and they officially publish the signed drivers on the Windows Update site.

As a general rule, always get the driver on the web site of the official "publishers' support.  Anywhere else, 'we' need to be 'worried' about 'integrity' of the person who posted the package update driver.

    L.S.

I would like to create a hotspot on my Windows computer. Windows supports this and he needs the Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport card for this. The question is this:

I don't see Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter in my device management.

    I tried the things:

    (1) checking the section "hidden devices" in device management. He isn't here.

    (2) update the my wireless (Netgear A6210) network card drivers to the latest version.

    (3) update the drivers of my network card wireless (Netgear A6210) to the first version available.

    (4) reinstall the drivers of steps 2 and 3.

    (4) the execution of a number of commands that search on Google, I found:

    Thanks in advance!

Wifi miniport exists only after you have successfully put in place a network hosted - it is a virtual device.

If you can, it would be interesting to restore an image system before all your attempts - just to make sure there is no debris around to stop you from your repeated procedure.

The following documents have been cut & pasted directly from the windows command prompt, I used successfully implemented and use this utility [in Windows 7 and Windows 10].  I mention this because when I wanted to find out more about the fact that I discovered a lot of rubbish, written by people who had either never tried & have been incorrectly copy of notes from someone else or they were just of their inaccurate memories.

1 you must first verify that your WiFi card is capable of this job.  Enter elevated command window

    netsh wlan show pilot

    and check that the entry

    Hosted network supported: Yes

    appears in the results.

2 WiFi must be enabled until you issue the following command [it didn't need to be connected to anything]

    netsh wlan start hostednetwork

and then you should get the answer

    The hosted network began.

[If you do not have WiFi you this answer - the hosted network could not be started.]  [A device attached to the system is not functioning.]

3 Once you are happy that you have found the right answer, then stop the network

    netsh wlan hostednetwork stop

4 then start it for real with a SSID & password

netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode = allow ssid = TestNet key = password

    and you get the answer

The hosted network mode has been defined to allow.
The SSID of the network hosted has been changed successfully.
The user key hosted network password has been changed successfully.

5 you can restart [you will have to do at each reboot of the system - there is no need to keep entering the SSID and password the system will just continue to use those you put in during step 4 above].

    netsh wlan start hostednetwork

6 you can also get some info on how it works with

    netsh wlan show hostednetwork

I just checked these settings to see what security was that I couldn't connect to my WinXP [but not connected as well a computer Win10 & hotspot a phone]

  • TWO connections Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter?

    Hello!

Recently bought a LG TV and try to mirror the screen by WiDi, but after a week of cracking my head over this, it does not work.

In troubleshooting I stumbled upon the fact that I have TWO connections Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport adapt, even if I uninstall a via Device Manager, itll reinstall once the computer is restarted. All say 'Not connected' as well, and I feel that the reasons for which I can't do the link of WiDi with the TV resides in the above.

Should I have two connections, and if not how can I solve this problem? And secondly why they both say not connected?

Your help is greatly appreciated because there is too little information about this online specifically to try to get that it connects to a TV and it's so frustrating!

    Thank you!

Go to the Intel site and install the latest version of the WiDi software and drivers.  Are you sure that the TV is capable of WiDi?  Or what adapter are you using?  I know not how this technology has improved over the past 2 years or so but if you want to watch movies with this you can be disappointed, when I ran across an adapter Push2TV a few years back I found the video choppy, perfect for office presentations but not very good for movies from my laptop to the TV streaming I abandoned the idea and am instead of using a device with built in NET applications.

  • Microsoft virtual WiFI miniport adapter has adriver problem

does anyone know how to fix Microsoft virtual WiFI miniport adapter has adriver problem

    Hello

    Control Panel - Device Manager:

You can double-click it - tab drivers - DISABLE (that is if you do not use this feature).

You may not have that unless you try to connect to other WiFi devices via your computer and
many WiFi devices and their drivers do not correctly support the virtual pilot.

Check with the manufacturer of system and/or support updated real manufacturer Sites and WiFi device drivers.
(Which is also updating the driver virtual.) If no new drivers WiFi are available then re - install the present
    one.

Control Panel - network - write down of the brand and the model of the Wifi - double click top - tab of the driver - write
version - click the driver update (cannot do something that MS is far behind the pilots of certification). Then
Right click on the Wifi device and UNINSTALL - Reboot - it will refresh the driver stack.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htm

Installation and update of drivers under Windows 7 (updated drivers manually using the methods
below is preferred so that the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system and device manufacturers are
    found)
    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/43216-installing-updating-drivers-7-a.html

Download - SAVE - go where you put it - right click – RUN AS ADMIN.

You can download several at once however restart after the installation of each of them.

After watching the system manufacturer, you can check the manufacturer of the device an even newer version.
(Those become your fonts of rescue system manufacturer).

Repeat for network card (NIC) and is a good time to get the other updated drivers as
Windows 7 like the updated drivers.

More information on what WiFi devices a virtual: (as noted above, if the device or the driver is not
support the virtual device or is not required then it can be disabled).

The WiFi device and the driver is installed must support a Virtual WiFi configuration. Check with the system
Manufacturer support, their documentation online and drivers and ask in their forums (if any) known
questions. If the wireless device is supported for OEM sound drivers, visit their site for updated drivers and

  • Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter

I have 2 toshiba NB305 netbooks. 1 has the Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport adapter listed #2 in the device under network adapters Manager. I don't know why but it minimizes my wifi range as other otherwise works fine. How uninstall it permanently, I did a right click on it and select uninstall - press ok when it asks me if I'm sure that - he disappeared, but when I restart it back.

    Hi KrystalOMGURAT,

Please see the following information about uninstalling Virtual WiFi, from the following link:

    http://research.Microsoft.com/en-us/UM/Redmond/projects/VirtualWiFi/software_faq.htm#uninstallfaq

    VirtualWiFi uninstall

Q: why I can't uninstall VirtualWiFi? The uninstall command seems to hang.
A: This happens if the VirtualWiFi service is not running. To start the service, either run "net start VirtualWiFiService", OR "VirtualWiFiSvc.exe - start'." " VirtualWiFi Service is not installed, could you install using 'VirtualWiFiSvc.exe - install'. "

Q: is there a manual way to uninstall VirtualWiFi?
A: Yes. Click Start-> Control Panel->-> wireless connection, network connections, right click and and go to properties. Click the VirtualWiFi Miniport driver and click on uninstall. Note that the VirtualWiFi Service must be run at this time. Once the driver is uninstalled, you must remove the service by running ""net stop VirtualWiFiService '', followed of "VirtualWiFiSvc.exe - remove". "

Q: I can't uninstall VirtualWiFi. Nothing seems to work. Is there a brute force method?
A: Yes. Go to the Windows registry by using start-> Run-> 'regedit '. Note that modify you the registry at your own risk. It is always best to save a copy of the registry before you edit. The registry, search for all entries having VirtualWiFi, and delete them. This is best done in safe mode. Also run 'VirtualWiFiSvc.exe - remove' to remove the service. We have provided an easier way to remove these registry entries. Follow these steps: (i) the term "VirtualWiFi uninstall" (ii) reboot your machine (iii) Run "RegDelete. Note that you need to remove a single entry manually, who is invited by RegDelete. (iv) reset, and you're all set! However, please use RegDelete carefully. Carefully check the entries which RegDelete invites! It should not belong to another program and correspond to the README.txt file in the directory of RegEdit under Sources.

    I hope this helps!
