How can I remove icons from program to appear on the pictures?

When I call my complete set of images, the icon indicating the program used to open, cover photos.  I want to remove them so that I can see the thumbnails.  I don't know how they got on them.  They were not there.  I use MS Vista and MS photo system.

Here's a possibility... go to... Start ORB / Control Panel.
Folder options / tab / files and folders / uncheck
"Always show icons, never thumbnails" / apply / OK.
