  The http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925718 instructions are for WMP 11 on XP. Here are the correct steps to WMP 11 Vista: (note the reset of the library will make you lose all the counts to play and possibly ratings too)

  -Restart the PC.
  -Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service . If its status is started , double-click the service, and then click stop .
  -Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
  -In this folder, rename the folder Media Player as Old Media Player . If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
  -Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the problem persists.

  I have an 8200 Elite SFF and wants to start an alternative system (not Linux, but * NIX - like BONE) of a disk external DRIVE, connected via a USB port. My main operating system is WIN 7 64 bit, but for some special tasks I´d like to use the alternative OS. It worked without any problem on my two previous stand-alone - elected USB as a boot device in the BIOS boot menu and it starts fine.  However, on my Compaq 8200 there no USB option in the start menu.   You don't need the files xmp during the passage of LR to Photoshop. Right click on the image or in the develop module, click Photo > edit in... According to what you have set in the preferences of the image then opens like FFT, JPEG or PSD - 8 bit / 16 bit - and the new TIFF file for example automatically will return to sitting next to the original RAW LR library. If you are exporting a RAW file edited to the desktop to JPG/TIFF then changes will be permanently stamped in the EXIF of the created files.

  Yes, see first paragraph above. If you already have a file in LR, take it in Photoshop as a JPG/TIFF/PSD, it will be automatically reduced in LR. If you modify a file outside the LR and that is not already in the LR library, say by locating the RAW file in Explorer and then open it directly in ACR/Photoshop, then LR will have no idea what you did except in LR, you choose to import the image later. Remember though, this is one of the examples where you will need to configure save metadata in xmp (at bridge) so that when you import the edited outside the file RAW LR, LR will read the xmp file changes and save it in its own database.

  The best way to remove the bitlocker password is to follow these steps.

  There seems to be a confusion of terms here: the catalog is where LR stores all of its information (that your designated as LR library in your original post).

  While you were on the road, did you use LR to add keywords to photos, or have you used another tool? If you have used LR, you already have a catalog on the laptop, which you can then import into your main LR catalog (using import to catalogue option in the file menu). Let us know if you get stuck anywhere.
