How can I restore my computer to factory settings so that I can give it with peace of mind about my personal information?

I would only delete personal files.

Hello

Remove only the personal folders is not the way to do

Everyone can recover with the software of data recovery and your user account name, parameters, etc rest...

And if everyone would recommend "Dban"; who will even remove any recovery partition (which if necessary for purposes of relocation), because it deletes (as its default action) information on any hard disk that it finds in your computer and you need to reinstall the operating system.

The way to do what you want to do is to reinstall the operating system that your header request initially (but remember the only way to know that your data is never recoverable is to physically destroy the hard drive!).

Here are the various ways to reinstall the operating system:

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a set of recovery disks to reinstall from.

They should do this for a small fee.

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer (this is why I did not recommend the use of Dban).

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup.

Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

See you soon.

  • The intention to restore the computer to factory settings. How can I get Win10 again?

I have an emachine at less than ten years now. Originally it had installed Win7 on it and last year I got the free update of Win10. No problem downloading or installation, have no problem with it, but this poor old clunky machine is to his last breath. I want to do a "restore to factory settings. I know it will destroy everything, and I guess he'll reinstall Win7, after which I would download and re - install Win10 just like I did before.

    Can I do this?

Should I have my registration key of Win10?

Where would he get this information?

Win10 is still available as a free download/install as if it were last year?

I don't want to restore on Win7 to see that now I have to buy the Win10 I'm currently using for free, I want to know ahead what to expect and what will be expected of me until I push the button.

Yes, I know, I need a new computer, but it is not the budget for it right now. It's why I can't really afford to buy Win10 if I don't have one.

    Thank you

    JaeMmb

    Yes, you can.

Format your system and install Windows 7 and turn it on.

After coming to start windows update and when your windows 7 updated, it will automatically give you 10 free update Windows.

But the upgrade of your system before July 29, 2016 because after that, you will only get the free update.

For questions about the resumption of the process of factory settings, you will need to ask the manufacturer of the computer.

This isn't their recovery process, Microsoft.

Each manufacturer has their own way to do it.
