How can I send a fax using pc? What improvements are needed by my O.S. (Vista Home Prem.64 bit quad) to allow the sending of a fax? Scanner/printer is installed.
Using comcast for internet cable. Service not switched. Built in soft modem Agere Systems PCI-SV92 PP. Epson CX8400 printer / scanner installed. What additional software/hardware, or fax service subscription may I need? Any suggestion is appreciated. Thank you, Ken. Ken

As you can see from the link above of MS, Vista Home versions do not come with Fax software.
Home Premium, you can only change it to Vista Ultimate, which has included Fax software.
A less expensive way is to buy 3rd party software Fax: http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/Snappy_Fax_2000/snappyfax.html
Snappy Fax 2000 allows you to send and receive faxes from your computer. You can use your scanner to scan documents and then sent a fax to any fax machine, or use the print command other applications to use the virtual fax printer, allowing you to send faxes directly from most Windows applications. In addition, the program also supports faxes sending via the internet, filtering of unwanted faxes and transfer incoming faxes to other fax or e-mail addresses. Additional features include import address book, faxes by email (with zip for images support), OCR, spell checking and much more.

How can I add a screensaver for Vista Home Prem 64 bit
I tried to add screensavers on my Vista Home Prem 64 bit OEM OS home built office & they will not install on the menu screen saver. They are installed in the system, but they will not show for use in the screen saver settings. I also have another problem... when I download some programs they not add a shortcut on the desktop or the program from the button start all programs list. I have to go to my C drive & find them in programs / programs x 86 and then create a shortcut. Someone at - it a fix for these problems?
See if the screen saver is installed in the folder System32, and not the SYSWOW64 folder?
"Third party screensavers in Vista 64 tend to settle in the wrong directory. The .scr file needs to go to SYSWOW64 instead of System32... where you will find this as they are probably. Simply transfer them in 64-bit file and they should be displayed."
http://www.Vistax64.com/general-discussion/100968-screensaver.html
When you install everything that comes with a Setup.exe, right-click on the .exe and select the "Run as Administrator" option. See if that gets your sorted shortcuts. Same thing with screensavers if they come as a Setup.exe.

can I switch from 32-bit win vista home prem 64-bit win vista home prem?
can I switch from 32-bit win vista home prem 64-bit win vista home prem?
Yes, you can, but you need to back up and do a custom installation. There is no place on the way to upgrade from Windows Vista 32 bit to 64 bit.
Installation and relocation of Windows Vista
Back up your files - Microsoft Corporation: software, Smartphones...Boot from the Windows Vista DVD
Click Install now
Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows Vista click Next.
You will receive the following warning:
The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.
(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK
The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.
Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.
You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

Where can I download Vista Home Prem 64 bit?
I have an old system with Visat Home Premium 64 bit and I lost my installation disc. Where can I go to download the ISO?
Hello
There are several methods to reinstall Vista.
There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.
You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.
They should do this for a small fee.
To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:
You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:
How to change the Boot order in BIOS:
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm
"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246
And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.
The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)
Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.
Ask them to the proper key sequence.
And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.
Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.
If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.
Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.
If this happens, you may need to try this instead:
You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.
Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.
And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs
Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:
"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html
And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.
And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.
"How to activate Vista normally and by Activation of the phone '

How can I create a PDF using Acrobat 7.0 in Windows 8 of a drawing on a Visio 64 - bit system
I used to be able to create a PDF with Acrobat 7.0 to a drawing file in Visio XP. Now I'm on a 64 bit system, no Adobe printer can be installed, and it is not supported. Help?
On a 32-bit system, there is a solution. I don't think that it is possible to get AA7 to work on a 64 bit system (no one has reported success and only 1 suggested success with AA8). You may be able to print to a PS file, and then open that in distilling. I suspect that this is the only way and you need to find a decent printer PS driver to do so. I suspect that the driver printer (and associated AcroTray) will not work in a Win8 64 bit - Acrobat and Distiller can.

The manual of instrument mentioned that "for switch mode remote"P","H""O""T","O"are sent as single characters and not as a single string". How can I send simple characters using the Serial Port, rather than send a single string?
I have no CVI installed on this pc, and in the past, I used VISA instead of the ComWrt. If you know how to write a string, then I don't see where is your problem. You write only 5 channels instead of one--each with a single character.
You can post to the ICB card if you have problems with C.

I use Illustrator CC and sent a file to a colleague who uses CS6 where all the layers become a great layer. How can I send it and preserve the layers?
coledang,
Save a copy, and in the following options choose CS6.
In this way, it should open correctly in CS6, and the original document is unscathed.
You may find that some (new CC) features will not survive the downsaving.
