    Hobler,
If the user account has been deleted you can not restore with the help of a program of backup\restore.  If you have another drive and that you have backed up your hard drive then user accounts should be part of your backup.  You just go through the restore process for items you need.

I have windows XP & buy a new laptop with windows 7. How can I remove myself from the old laptop so that they don't get my email & files?  I give my computer to the family member.

You could do a clean install, so there's nothing left from when you use, or you can create another user (admin) then go on this user and delete your user, so that all your files would be gone.

    Go to Safe Mode...

Restart your computer > immediately and repeatedly pressing the F8 key until you see a black and white screen. The top/down arrow and select Mode safe mode with networking.

    2. If you are unable to log in to your account administrator in safe mode, you see another administrator next to your account?
If so, you are lucky. This is the built-in Administrator account.
There is, by default, no password.
It could connect and do system restore by using the link given above.

If the system restore is not enough, then perform the tutorial even as above:

  • How can I get additional user accounts get rid as I am the only person who uses my computer?

I'm the only user on my computer, so I am also administrator.  I don't want to deal with all the extra files created between User1 and administrator.  How to become just the Administrator without additional user?

Don't use NO Windows 7 with a single account. In Windows 7, the built-in Administrator account is disabled by default, and although it is possible to allow, this process may be beyond what you feel comfortable with.
WHEN, and not IF you have problems to access your user account, you will have considerable problems if you don't have a SINGLE account to use.

You need to forget about something to do with XP and create a user with administrator privileges, account (let's call him Admin or similar) and give it a password. Keep this account for access to emergency and for elevation purposes. Then change your account to a Standard user account. (There is absolutely no need to run as administrator on a daily basis in Windows 7, Windows 7 has the function of 'right-click-Run as Administrator "when you need administrator privileges). You'll be much safer and better protected than that.

I'm trying to transfer bookmarks Firefox from one machine to the other. I need an account to identify bookmarks I want, but as far as I know, I do not have an account of Firefox. So I try to create one on the old machine that I use to transfer bookmarks to the new machine.

You can copy files in the profile folder of Firefox on a computer in the folder of the profile on another computer by copying the files on a removable USB (USB key).

You can copy files like these in the Firefox profile folder to retrieve specific data.

    • bookmarks and history: places.sqlite
    • favorite backup: backups JSON in the bookmarkbackups folder
    • SQLite files cookies.sqlite (cookies) and formhistory.sqlite (saved form data)
    • logins. JSON and signons3.txt (decryption key) of the saved passwords in password manager
    • cert8. DB for stored intermediate certificates (Certificate Manager)
    • Persdict.dat for the words that you added to the spelling dictionary
    • Permissions.SQLite and, possibly, content - prefs.sqlite permissions and Site preferences
    • sessionstore.js to open and pinned tabs and tab groups

You can retrieve more personal data.

    Hi kuentin,.

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

    (1) - what do you mean you have only 1 user account?

When you set up Windows, you will need to create a user account. This account is an administrator account to allow you to set up your computer and install any programs that you want to use. And that's why the user account you are using is the administrator account.

There is no way that you can create an administrator account, or by using a Standard account.

    (2) are you having issues during installation of the software or opening it?

    (3) what exactly happens when you try to open the software application?

    (4) should be codes error or error messages, if any?

    (5) what software are you trying to install or open?

I suggest you go to the link below and read for more information on user accounts.

  • How can I remove the user name and the image of Windows XP new Start Menu

    Two questions:

    1. How can I delete the user name and the image of Windows XP new start; and

    2. my computer keeps asking me to press the F1 key to start Windows.  How to skip this part?

    Thank you.

    Hello

The image of user account can be removed by disabling the Welcome screen. Or, by opting for the classic Windows theme. Follow the method described in this article, if you want to remove the user name and the picture in the Start Menu, without disabling the Welcome screen and Windows XP theme.

For those who want to delete the user name and the image of user account from the Start Menu, in order to have a blue white Panel at the top, try this:

    Registry warning
Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/322756/

    Step 1:

    a. start Windows Explorer and go to this folder:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft account images

    b. in this folder, rename the BMP file that corresponds to your user account.

(For example, if your user name is Robert, rename Robert.bmp to old_Robert.bmp)

    c. then rename the following folder:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft account Pictures\Default pictures

    to something else, for example,.

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft account Pictures\No_Default images.

    Step 2:

To remove the user name, follow these steps

    a. Click Start, click "RUN" and type "regedit.exe" and navigate to this key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER-Software-Windows Microsoft\------CurrentVersion-policies-Explorer

    b. in the right pane, the value NoUserNameInStartMenu-value data 1.

    c. close Regedit.exe and restart Windows.

You'll find yourself with a blue area at the top of the Start Menu.

Regarding the pressing 'F1' to start Windows, you have made no changes or was there a system crash after which the problem started?

You may need to change the boot sequence in the BIOS to the default settings. I recommend you contact your PC vendor for this.

    Warning of the BIOS:
BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

  • How can transfer emails to another account, but only at certain times of the day (after that reception has left and before the start of the next working day)?

I run a private school. The receptionist left to 1800 and begins at 0900 the following day.

How to receive email between 1800 and 0900 to my private account, but not the e-mail during business hours?

I guess that you have a computer with Thunderbird installed.
I imagine that you have a profile with an e-mail account that is used for the activities of the private school and the receptionist has access to this email account, if you don't want the receptionist to see your personal emails.

I would approach this by creating "User accounts" on the computer.
Thunderbird would work in all user accounts.
A standard user account could be used by the recepionist which would profile with business e-mail address account.

The main account of the "Admin" user, accessible by entering a password, have your profile and your personal email to your personal email account.
Then you can connect to your user account, open Thunderbird and access/download your emails whenever you want. Output of Thunderbird and your user account when you are finished. The receptionist will not have access without knowing your user account password.

Alternatively, if you use the same user account:
If you have created another profile and added a new existing for your personal email address, then after 1800hours e-mail account, you can leave the profile used for the account of the company and open the profile with your personal e-mail account to download emails. By offering you this profile nearby and open the profile of the company before 0900hrs, then it works as expected.
If you use the same user account, it is possible, if the receptionist knows how to open your profile and read emails. Thunderbird password manager may be used to protect access to your e-mail account password, but not stop playback of downloaded emails.
So why it is preferable to use "User accounts" as described in the first option.

    Hello

Thanks for your posting in the Microsoft community

Well, you can enable the administrator account hidden instead of an account

You can make the win + r and write lusrmgr.msc in the start search box or in the command run and pressing ENTER. Or, you could open the computer by right clicking on computer management in the start menu and select manage.

Expand System Tools > local users and groups > users.

Right-click the administrator account, and then select "Set password".

In the 'set password' click 'continue '.

In the "set password" enter the password of the administrator twice, then click on 'Ok '.

Then, activate the administrator account. Right click on the administrator account and select "Properties".

n check the box "account is disabled". Click on the Ok"" button.
