How to search for .ico files in Windows?
I write on behalf of a client.
She has problems using the search feature in Windows 7. She tries to find its system for all types of files .ico, but has so far only not successful. The file type is not listed as a file type supported for Windows Search, and when she tried several search commands to find on his PC, nothing relevant comes up.
Is there an order of specific research, it should use or an another workaround to find the types it needs?
Thank you very much!

Search for the file size, Date & content
It was SO easy to do the above in Windows XP and Vista. Someone please explain step by step in detail how everything above at the same time? For example, to find my entire PC (indexed and unindexed files) to a file greater than 1 MB, created or modified after March 10, 2010 and with the word 'blackie' in the content of the file, not the name.
OUgrad,
You can use these search filters in the local disk C to search all the C drive:
modified:03/10/10
for size, you can type Dimensions: then click on wide for files larger than 1 MB or size: > = 1 MB.
Content in a document is automatically searched, but if you want to specify, you can type content:
You can put all of these together filters to customize your search. You will know if it is correct to filtering because it will turn blue.

How to search for a Word document in Windows 8?
I'm stumbling around Windows 8 that came pre-loaded on my new laptop. I ordered Windows and Excel to be included in the package. I saved a number of documents in Word, and now I need to get these documents for a particular. I looked on the Internet and found a lot of no-help, that is to say, 'go in search of a file'. Excuse me, but if I could find searching a file, I could probably find out how to search for the file, Huh? Thus,.
Could someone please help me with: how to find a Word document (1) and (2) where is the infamous "search"?
I did the thing 'sweep to the right side of the screen"to get those things shadow to appear, and click on the magnifying glass (which I think the engineers forgot to change when they changed everything!) and if I wanted to search for apps, I'd be in great shape. But his files I'm looking for, Word documents. The designers of this 'new' version improved - well, new, in all cases seem to have forgotten those of use who use computers for productive work and not socialize or play games.
Sorry for the hike and whining, but I'm very frustrated that the tasks that were once very simple are now extremely difficult to fill.
It's pretty easy, at the beginning screen just type the name of your document and right it will bring the search screen and you select files (files, settings, Apps). Take a look at:

How can I search in Windows 7 for all files not containing a speific (_) character in the file?
I have two files with about 50 000 files in each folder. There are many copies of the same file (only one folder contains photos, the other file has data files. In the two files copies have the same name as the original file, for example IMG01, but identified for example IMG01_1, IMG01_2, etc..)
I would like to find all files that DO NOT have a _ in them. Can I do this? How?
Or I have to search for all files that have a _ by searching for * _ *? Delete these files?
I tried, but program trotted for 2 hours. Just take a while?
I thought that if I could search only files without the _ it would be more effective.
Less than 20% of the files in each folder have not a _ in them.
You should be able to use a? or * to replace a number of characters that are either unique or variable. * book would find both book and facebook, or? ook would only book.
Anyway, there's probably not a way to identify the files corrupted by a search.

How can I use windows search to search for pdf files containing a specific word?
I have a folder with several pdf files. When I use windows search for a word that I know exists in one of the files, I get no results. It does not work when I use the content: either.
How can I use windows search to search for pdf files containing a specific word?
Do I need to install something to activate search within .pdf?
If you use Win7 32 bit, the iFilter is bundled with Acrobat Reader 9. On Win7 64-bit, you will need to install it separately.

Search for all files? Search by creation date?
How can I search within all files? I know that the files are there and contain the words I'm looking for, but Windows cannot find them. Some files do not have extensions, some have a .bak extension and some have various other extensions.
Also, I see an option to search by modification date, but not created. How can I search for all files on my hard drive, created on a particular date (including the .dll, .exe, etc..). I'm trying to find all the files that were installed with an application. The files have different change dates, but all have the same creation date (when the application has been installed).
I do not understand how that returns results for all files (including non indexed files). Can you please explain?
The search interface has been simplified at the request of the overwhelming majority of users. Until a more sophisticated user, you liked the very high amount of control WHAT XP gave it. The new interface 7 has fewer orders. When the research opens, you will see an "additional search... "Computer" and other. Since you are obviously in control of syntax, the interface for non indexed opening files is quite simple. There is always the option to expand the index to include everything. (Control panel/Indexing Options)
If your index still don't "look in" a file, you can try to assign an 'association' for the file type. I have no idea what the .xyz file type might have as a native association, but you can associate this notebook. (right-click, open with, choose default program..., see the box always 'use..')

Please, give me an advise how to search for a number in a file xml (as3.0)
Hello! Sorry for the troubling.
Please, give me an advice how to search for a number in a file xml (as3.0)
Thank you!
My answer was based on your question to find numbers anywhere in the data to an xml file. If you know that the data is digital data and the names of the nodes that contains this data, you do not have to check the characters and can only check numerical data using string values...
function searchXMLFile(Event:MouseEvent):void
{
searchDisplay.text = "";
var pageList:XMLList = xmlFileToSearch.receipt.number;
searchDisplay.text = "false";
for (var i: int = 0; i< pagelist.length();="">
{If (pageList [i] == searchInput.text) {}
searchDisplay.text = "true";
}}
}Even if you are looking for individual digital characters in the previous code that you would have always done by a false exit due having the line 'false' always cancel the real line...
If (t.toString () .indexOf (m_sSearchTerm)! = - 1).
{
searchDisplay.text = "true";
}
searchDisplay.text = "false"; This will always overwrite the textfield

I use Window 7 Home Premium. Once I find a file in Windows Explorer, I expect to be able to right click, choose "Open file location" and get the folder in which the file was found to open it in another window. Instead, the same window I looked into is used to open the folder in which the file was found. Therefore, if the file was not the one I'm looking for, I have to click on the arrow to the left or press the BACKSPACE key and wait for the results of research to refill. Often I want to compare two or more files in which some files have the same name. This now means that I have to open two or more instances separate Windows Explorer. I prefer to open a Windows Explorer window, search for a file, and open the location of the files of a couple or a few files with names. How can I get "instead of opening the file" to open a separate window?
This is a default feature, as far as I could tell.
However, after looking for a file and if research meets your requirements, there is an option for "Open in a new window" and "open file/folder location."
But, if I understand your message that you do not click "back" or the back"" button. It is something that is not possible, as far as I know.
