How do I collapse to the bottom of the structure of file storage in Windows Live Mail

I just started to use Windows Live Mail as my e-mail client after you use Outlook Express for nearly 18 years. (MS should really get back to Windows 7, no joke).  My rating system for my email is very important for me. In Windows Live Mail, I am unable to collapse to the bottom of the folder structure in my section 'storage folder '.  I would particularly like to this function in the window "move to folder".  Right now I have to scroll through dozens of folders under folders and sub sub folders to find the ones I want and it's very confusing and time consumking.  I want to cut down the records so that only the main folders are showing and I can double click to open them to find the one I'm looking for.   I tried to go through all the settings options and can find no option for me to play this role.  Help, please.

  • How can I move all the folders in Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail?

Bought a new computer with Windows Home, how can I move the folders of Outlook Express in Windows XP SP3 in Windows Live Mail? Thanks for your help.

Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:

    For Messages:

Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail. Open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

    Location of OE message store:

In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

    For addresses:

Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

Open the Contacts list in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

    For the account settings:

In OE: Tools | Accounts, select the account and export it to the desktop. This will be an .iaf file. Copy it to the new computer and WLMail desktop: tools | Accounts and import the settings from the location you saved the.

  • The 'Home' banner has disappeared from windows live mail how do I get it back

How can I get the banner of home return to the opening page of windows live mail?

Looks like you've cut the Ribbon.

Open WLMail, along the upper left corner, you have some icons if you move the pointer over it, generally: new ' 'response', 'update all' 'customize the Quick Access toolbar. Click on 'Customize Quick Access toolbar' and at the bottom of the list, uncheck the box "cut the Ribbon".

Hopefully that should get it back.

  • How all the messages can be deleted in Windows Live Mail?

In Windows Live Mail, we can dump the unwanted and deleted mail folders.  I want to empty the messages and can not find any help.

Delete you in the deleted items folder, and then empty the deleted items folder by clicking Edit > delete the folder deleted items...

You can select the messages mlutiple by holding Shift and clicking in the order 1, then last in order; which selects everything in between.
Or hold down the Ctrl key and do a random selection.

  • cannot get rid of the notice of no messages in Windows Live Mail

Recently, when I leave Windows Live Mail, the box ' you sent messages - you want to send then now "appears every time when I know that there are no unsent messages.  I think it started when I tried to send an e-mail response to a person who answered an ad, I had placed and he refused because he was a spammer or such a message.  The e-mail never appeared in my Outbox and does not appear in my files.  How can I get rid of this message?

Unsent messages is in your folder, for obvious reasons. They are in your Outbox waiting to be sent in. The Outbox is below account files in the folders pane. You will probably need to work offline before you can delete any message will avoid in there.

Windows Live Mail has its own support at the Windows Live Solution Centerforums. Please address any other question you may have on one of the forums on the right side of this page. You are probably asked to give your version of WLMail and Windows so that the answer may be more accurate. In WLMail to find your version of the software, a press on ALT - H. If it doesn't show you the version and the build number, press onescape to two times, and then Alt - F B.

  • How to import a dbx file unique to Windows Live Mail?

I imported my files of dbx to Outlook Express 6 for WLM (Windows 7) last month, but a valuable record has been lost due to corruption. Now, I discovered a forgotten dbx backup that I'm desperate to add to WLM7, but it does not recognize the dbx file. All the advice I have read, says that you can import all OE6 files and folders at once, and that it does not recognize simple records. There is no work around for this? I'm desperate to import this file, but do not want to lose all my other imported files making.

    Help, please!

The reason why you can not get imported WLMail dbx files is because Folders.dbx must be included in the backup. Manually recover dbx files in OE, you can export them.

2: transfer of data from Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail

    For Messages:

In Outlook Express, compact you files first.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

    Compress your OE folders:
    http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm#compact

Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx should be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

V-2009: open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

V-2011/2012: Menu button. Import Messages. Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

    Location of OE message store:

In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP the OE User (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

Note: If any DBX file is over 300 MB, return to OE and move some messages from the folder related to a new user created folder and compact down the size of the file.

  • during the transition from Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail, is the address book data stored and also the info in files

I'm afraid that if I upgrade the form Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail, I will lose all e-mail addresses in my address book current as well as the information contained in the files - models etc.

If you install WLMail on your XP machine, it has to import messages and addresses automatically and nothing will be lost of OE.

  • What is the file path for Windows Live Mail storage files in Win7?

I had to save my old C drive and reinstall the OS and now I can't find all my e-mail folders that were under the "Storage folders" section of WLM.  Please tell us where the program records those so I can copy this folder.

Also, where are the stored so WLM Contacts I can do the same thing for that.

WLM is delivered with a default section called "storage folders".  They are different from where the Inbox stores the messages, you can check in the section Options/Advanced Options / Maint.

This is the folder called storage folders is, too.

Still looking for the answer to where the contacts are stored.

Which varies according to the version of the program. In the last (WLMail 2011), they are in a database in the folder called C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Contacts\Default, where C:\ is the drive operating system. You won't be able to make use of all other folders next default one.

Questions about contacts in Windows Live Mail its place in this forum. You must give your version of the software when you post it. In WLMail to find, has press on ALT - H. If that does not show you the version and number generation, press escape twice, then press Alt - F B.

  • automatic correction for capitals at the beginning of a sentence in windows live mail

my windows live mail does not auto-correct for capitals at the beginning of a sentence.  I tried all solution options, that I could find. What can be corrected?

I'm sorry but it's not.  You can consider an e-mail program more capable as Office Outlook 2013, part of Microsoft Office, which has the most robust engine spelling and AutoCorrect-shared by all programs Office (best known of the word).

You elected probably still use the protocol HTTPS for Hotmail. If you did, this means that WLMail cannot connect to Hotmail via HTTP using DeltaSync. Go to https://account.live.com/managessl and log in with the account which does not work in WLMail. See the important note, and then select do not automatically use the HTTPS protocol and Save.
