  Steps to remove unused items from the notification area:

  1. click on start-> run and then type regedit in the box that appears, and then click ok

  2. from the tree of directories in the registry editor, navigate to

  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TrayNotify

  3 remove flow and PasteIconStreams icon in the list

  4. exit the registry editor, restart your computer and the items in the notification area should now be gone.

I know it is not possible to 'prevent' caching, but it is a way to trick the browser into thinking it must load the SWF file rather than simply get one cache.
