  • Satellite U400 - how to return to the format of partition with HDD Recovery

I bought a new notebook Satellite U400 with Vista Home preinstaled thereon.
I went through the initial configuration and once it was done, I realized that making the partitions of HARD drive does not fit my needs.

So I resised the partition of 'Vista' (acctually I shrunk it) and made the largest partition of 'Data'.
I did not do anything with the hidden partition.

Unfortunately, when I did this procedure I formatted the 'Data' partition.
Now, when I want to make the backup with TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator DVD I got the error message saying that it is not possible because I formatted the 'Data' partition.

Is there a suggestion how to fix this error?
The system's fine, the only thing is that I'm not able to save and restore the operating system.

    Thanks Vecerka

It wasn't good buddy. If you deleted the partition of HARD drive recovery, then you would not be able to restore it!

Now, you need a new DVD of recovery!

  • How do I eject the speaker (audio beats) for cleaning coverage

My laptop is hp (dv6-7180se) and I want to clean the perforated lid which exists on speakers beats... Look at the picture:

I can open it without screws open back?

Please I need a few details to eject safely

    Hello @Fantastico,

I read your post on how you're looking to clean the surface of your laptop speaker, and I'd be happy to help you in this case!

As noted in Service and Maintenance Guide for your laptop, the only way to remove the top cover, where the speaker is to:

    1. Turn off computer
    2. The laptop power down by unplugging the power cord
    3. Disconnect the battery (see battery page 46), then delete the following:
    • Hard drive (see hard drive on page 47)
    • Optical drive (see optical drive on page 54)
    • Keyboard (see Keyboard page 57)

Unfortunately, some removal of the screws will be necessary to remove the top cover and the speakers. The steps below should help to remove the cover in order to clean underneath:

    1. remove the seven Phillips PM2, 5 × 8. cover the 5 screws that anchor the top of the computer

    2. remove the three Phillips PM2, 5 × 5. cover the 5 screws that anchor the top of the computer.

    3. remove the nine Phillips PM2, 5 × 3. cover the 5 screws that anchor the top of the computer.

4 place the right computer, with the front facing you.

    5. open the computer.

    6. release the corresponding ZIF connectors and then disconnect the following cables
    map of the system:

    Office button power cable (1)

    (2) TouchPad button Board cable

    (3) to fingerprint card reader cable

    (4) top of page cable speakers

    7. remove the three Phillips PM2, 5 × 5. cover the 5 screws that anchor the top of the computer.

    8. lift the back edge of the top cover (1) to the left and right sides have abandoned
    the base box.

    9. remove the cover (2). Make sure not to damage the thin base (3) around inside of blade
Bay optical drive when you remove the top cover.

    10. reverse this procedure to install the lid once more.

You probably have the trial version and has timed out.  Is this the case?  If Yes, then I suggest that you get the download of MS Office and the official license from Microsoft.

    Hi samshepherd,

To check if an updated audio driver is available for your sound card, you can use Microsoft Update to help you determine your current sound driver and if an update is available.

You can also contact the sound driver hardware or the computer manufacturer for an updated audio driver.

You can find all the programs and drivers, which are the image recovery on your CD tools & utilities (maybe you need to create one program on the laptop for this). But on the operating system, you can get it for free use, if you buy from Microsoft.

It is no problem to install the operating system by yourself. But not all BONES are supported, Toshiba has not created the drivers of these BONES. All available drivers can be downloaded here:
under 'Support & downloads' - 'drivers download.

Here, you can also find the installation instructions, and it is best to follow the order of the facilities to avoid conflicts.

    Good bye

I hated W8, how do I reinstall the W7? Given that I don't have the installation CD, only the CODE that is in the back of the laptop.
My laptop is HP Pavilion g7-2114so.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself - just download the good Disk Image ( must be the same version that originally came with your laptop - IE Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

All pilots additional and the software, you may need can be found here.

  • Reinstalling the software on DV4-1028us after Win8 Vista upgrade

If I upgrade a DV4-1028us my wife from Vista to Win 8, will I still be able to access the recovery partition to reinstall the software?

    Hi jcmclean,

It depends on how you upgrade.  I'd take a glance at this document before the upgrade, which should answer other questions you may have as well.

Remember, more than likely HP does not go to the material support for W8 on any system purchased before October 1, 2011.  Most of the pilots of W7 works in W8, but not sure about Vista.

You can run the software from the upgrade wizard, which will scan your PC and report on what is currently installed on your PC is compatible with the W8.
