How do I set the home page for new tabs?

When I open a new tab, it opens as a blank page. How to set Firefox to open new tabs in my homepage?

locked by a moderator due to the age and Firefox 13 has a new feature for a new tab

If you install the 'Tab Mix Plus' module, you can do this quite easily.

Tab Mix Plus > Options > events > tabs > load on new tabs: Home Page.

Hope that helps.

  • How to home page for new tabs

I don't know how to set the home page of the Initial screen on startup of Firefox, but every time I open a new tab, that it opens as a blank page. I want to set the home page for all new tabs that open (just like we have in Internet Explorer).

    Hello Rajesh.

This feature is no longer in default Firefox. You can simply Middle - click on the button home button instead of the new tab. It is a solution less that optimal, then you can consider installing an extension as a new tab homepage to allow you to load the homepage when you clean the new tab button. There are other extensions with this feature too, if you do not want one.

  • How to set the home page as a tab, that tab is always visible?

I want to be able to have the homepage as a visible tab that when I visit other sites that I can leave these sites open while I jump to the home page, without having to leave the site when I get home. This gives greater flexibility when they surf on the web and select the tab function be used to its full potential.

One possibility would be to pin the tab with the home page via the context menu of this tab, so it appears as the first tab and make sure that you open links in a new tab.

You can use Ctrl + 1 to go to the first tab and use the context menu to close all other tabs if you want to open the tab of the home page and get rid of other tabs.

  • I want to set a default "home page" for new tabs

It * is * that when I open a new tab, the "default home page" (the page that is displayed when I first launch Firefox) would be displayed in the new tab. No more. Looks like you guys that changed. I tried to get this return of '' renewal '' of Firefox, and it does not solve the problem. Initially, the new tabs come totally blank. Now, they come with a tile from several options, apparently reflecting my recent history. The site I want is near the top of this page, but this isn't quite what I want.

Not only it does not solve the problem, it also seems to have removed my pop up protection! Web sites that was not used to display pop-ups are showing them now! Yes, 'block pop-up windows' is checked in the settings. I think I lost an add-on protection pop up.

In Firefox 41 the pref browser.newtab.url disappeared. This pref was abused by malware so frequently that Mozilla has decided to remove this pref to eliminate this kind of diversion.
You will need an extension like this one to restore.
    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/new-tab-override/

Or to have your home page as the new tab page, try this extension.
    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage/

If you are using Classic theme restaurateur, go in the CTR options > tabs (1) article and set your preference for the new tab URL here.

For Super Start , you can use the topic: superstart page.

Firefox update deleted all your extensions, you therefore need to re - install the blocker for popups, you had.

  • How to set the start page for the new tab page?

I have my boot settings to open my windows and tabs from last time. If I leave Firefox with one of the new tab page, the next time I start up my home page indicates. New windows displays the homepage too. I want my homepage to remain such what. I had defined it like that before and had no problem. It's always like that? Thank you.

If you always want to start with the subject: newtab page then you can open the properties of the desktop Firefox shortcut and add a space and: target newtab at the command line to specify from this page.

Otherwise, you start with the home page or the pages of the previous era as shown in the startup parameter.

A new window will always open by the home page unless you have an installed extension for that to change.

  • Setting the home page does not work

When I run Firefox I still get Delta Homes search page. I put my home page ABC.net.au/news/ and made sure the Firefox start with "show my home page". However, it makes no difference and I get page Delta Homes when Firefox opens. How can I change this?

    Favorite and use this.
    Download the Mozilla search reset {web link}
This module is very simple: when installing, it backs up
and then resets your search and home page preferences
at their default values and then to uninstall. This
affects the search bar, search bar URL, and the home page.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox can be a result of malware installed on your computer, you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to search for malicious software that work with your existing anti-virus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP, if you do not already have one.

  • cannot set the home page to about: blank, it keeps loading google search page

After trying a small utility, I'm stuck with the toolbar of Babylon and the home page... Yes... I place the small checkpoint to disable installation...
No problem, I managed to remove all that...
But since then I can not get my homepage to stay together about: blank... it continues from the Google search page. I managed to link the homepage about button: empty, but when I add a new page (by clicking on the + sign next to the tab on the right most) I get the Google search page...
    Thanks in advance.

Hello l.j.claessen, please perform the following steps - they must remove the remaining bits of Babylon:

    • Go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information > profile folder - "view folder", then a new window will open. in this window look out for a file named user.js, delete or rename this file and restart firefox afterwards. This will get rid of the file which is crushing your custom setting homepage.
  • How are derived from the random bits for new AESKey()?

I was not able to find any documentation on how the random key is generated. There has been discussions on various security forums recently on the use of random number generators nickname (PRNG).

I would like confirmation that the random bits for new AESKey() come from cryptographically safe pounds (like net.rim.device.api.crypto.RandomSource?).

Random data used in the constructor of AESKey() comes from net.rim.device.api.crypto.RandomSource.

  • Set the thumbnail display of new tab homepage

I want a new window to open with the thumbnails of my favorite sites.

I've implemented the "Home Page" option with "subject: newtab ' and I'm sure that it worked until a few days ago.

I already searched the knowledge base and checked the settings "topic: config" suggested in other topics (http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/931476) and that they are correctly placed.

    My machine
I have an old macbook with 2 system boots 2008: Leopard and Snow Leopard. I'm sure that this setting works fine on both and now he is not on the boot of Leopard. I know, this operating system is not supported, but I put the ' topic: newtab ' AFTER the last update that notified the system is no longer supported.

Since then, I have not installed any extension or theme: the browser is a stock with the last update of the possible.

    Thanks for the comments.
No I didn't have just a blank page, no button or anything.

Turns out that also on my second boot (Snow Leopard) I suddenly lost the thumbnails on the homepage.

I was able to recover if: I have just to have a "blank Page" in settings (via the button in the pane), closed settings, reopened the window and the value "on: newtab ' and now I have thumbnails back.

I would say that was caused by an update of the OS or Firefox, but Firefox on Leopard does not update more and Leopard either.

  • How to clear all the tiles in a new tab?

I don't check the thumbanils in a new tab for a long time, and now there are a lot of these in my history, my question how I clear without clicking on the X mark yet another on all the world?

You can drag an item of bookmark or history on each of the 9 tiles.
If you visit the link and have it in the cache, then you should get a sticker in it.

You can change the order of the boxes on the subject: newtab page and drag an item on a tile that is different to pin in this position or you can remove a Web site by clicking on the close X to block this URL.
You can drag a bookmark or history item and drop them in a tile on the subject: newtab page to pin them and have your own sites showing favorites.

Changes manually on the subject: newtab page are stored in the browser.newtabpage.pinned (default = [null]) and pref browser.newtabpage.blocked you can check/change on the about: config page.

Searched through all the notes help and have reloaded x 3 an add - we (extension?) for new tabs. In other words, I don't know where to look to get this feature.

    Hi waukss:

Go to the view of . Toolbars | Customize and click the 'Restore Default Set' button or drag the 'New tab' icon in the window customize (if available) beside your existing tabs. It is also possible by mistake, you drag the icon "+" to another bar tools and just need to drag back where it belongs. If none of this works, go to tools | Options | Tabs and make sure that 'always show the tab bar' is enabled.

If you're really stuck, a double click of your mouse just to the right of your last visible tab [or file |] New tab (Ctrl + T)] should also open a new tab.
