  • Example: Pavilion a230n: replace the CD rom drive in Hp Pavilion a230n

I just saved a Paviliona230n to a sad end. He dumped the parts of the body, but I had an old Millennium that I could upgrade to XP or higher. I put two Cd-rom drives in and may not know how to do it without removing the AMD CPU and fan - something I am unwilling to do without instructions.

Are they cut down and how I unplug safely so I can insert the CD rom drives.

I guess I'd the drive readable than plugging in the cable (top) master and the rewritable as the slave.  OR?

I think I already exaggerated the bit of memory because the machine seems to have an a GB of memory and I put both of them in. Seems to work.

Then I need to get drivers especially for the ethernet connection.

More important is the method to remove the block of memory to AMD. Of course, I don't want to mess that up.

Just for interest: the hard drive with the millennial system OP is flaky. I think it was the program, but when I tried to install XP as an 'upgrade' (to save the programs and files) it has failed twice. Only when I did a full install worked.

Then I'll have to check the integrity of the player itself and I doubt that my disk wipe dbam (boot and nuke) work on it. He also did a great job on checking the hard drive before installing anything. It was not recognized by Millennium.

    TIA

I also have a blog, google more on plants. The plants were at the beginning of this need to find a computer equipped with a 3.5 inch diskettes. Years ago I had an excellent program of Gardenware (plus 250.00) to create labels. I made a library of 600 point of my plants with descriptions.

Win 3.1 now. I can't even install it again because it is the innovative and he needs a key to unlocking that the company no longer for older versions. Nothing else can read or open the backup disk library... so I downloaded a Viewer freefile and hope that it will work on this subject. I hope on the XP version. If this isn't the case, I'll have to install a floppy drive on one of my computers in Win 7.

I found this to be beyond comprehension. If you're selling a car, you have to keep the parts for it. I don't see that the developer of this program may not have kept the unlock codes for all older versions. Certainly don't makes me want to buy their NEW release for 199.00.

If this Viewer freefile unfold all I can do is get a mobile 3.5 floppy drive with a USB port and plug it into another computer of Nurserymans to see if the new version can read.

    Hi storm36,

You must have the Windows XP disk to repair Windows. As the CD/DVD drive is not getting detected, we recommend you try the following steps and check the result.

Step 1: Check if the device is detected in the BIOS (basic input/output device)
    a. start your computer and press on delete key continuously to see the BIOS.
    b. check if the CD/DVD device is detected.
    c. If this isn't the case, then unplug the unit and he reconnected inside the CPU/Tower.
    d. check the result.

Step 2: If the device is detected in the BIOS, try the following steps:
    a. start your computer and boot to the desktop.
    b. Click Start, click Run, type devmgmt.msc, and then click ok.
    c. select my computer, click the Action menu and click scan for hardware changes.
    d. check if the CD/DVD device is listed in the list.

Step 3: If the problem persists, restore the computer
see How to restore Windows XP to a previous state .
    b. Once you have restored the computer, check if the CD/DVD drive is visible.

  • Windows Media Center cannot detect the error DVD Windows Media Center cannot detect a DVD in the DVD - ROM drive. Insert a video DVD into the drive

Original title: why Windows Media Center does not detect my DVD?

I built my computer motherboard ASUS P658D, Intel i7 processor clocked at 2.6 gHz, 12 GB RAM, 750W Corsair PWR. power, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit & ie9. When I put or the other two DVDs in one of two DVD players, Windows Media Center appears and when I click on "Play DVD" Media Center give me a window that says:

"Windows Media Center cannot detect a DVD in the DVD - ROM drive. Insert a video DVD in the drive." Two DVDs, I've tried are educational for DVD

my Nikon D300 Digital camera and a family video DVD or both these very well play in a bed of same computer running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, & ie8.

I tried Microsoft Fixit, no help. I tried to send Microsoft Support, and I got NO HELP. I did not bring any changes, and installed any program, just

scoured the internet. A DVD player is a Sony Optarc with Microsoft Driver, the other is ASUS. I also tried to use Windows Media Player but nothing

rises or it returns me to Windows Media Center and it does not detect to play either of my DVD. How can I get help here, or from Microsoft? Thank you.

No, there is no yellow warning in Device Manager and the device manager says that two DVD players work properly. Mr. Fix it's

automated download from microsoft that is supposed to automatically fix some problems, but he provided no help here. I think it is more likely

that there is a problem with Windows Media Center or Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and either of my two new Sony DVD drives

    and ASUS.

I thought my way in a solution. My thought was: Device Manager indicates DVD players work properly and both are new and we're Sony, and the other ASUS so I think only an unlikely problem with readers. The problem is with Windows Media Center "do DETECTED is not the DVD. So there must be a problem with Windows Media Center. I thought that I might need to reinstall Windows 7... then I thought that maybe if I just reinstall Windows Media that will work. He did. My problem was:

Start > Panel > programs and features > features on or off Windows activate > then uncheck the box for multimedia functions > restart the computer > and then re-check the box to restore the multimedia features > now both discs play both DVDs, I tried. Both disks are operating normally. Reinstall the characteristics of media Windows 7 resolved the problem. Thanks to all who offered solutions.

  • Cannot boot from the CD-ROM drive

I have a Dell Dimension 9100.  Operating system is Windows XP.

The CD-ROM drive works great for playing CDs and recording stuff, but I can't boot from it.

Everything is fine with my computer at this time, it starts fine from the HARD disk, but I anticipate before when I need to use Acronis image rescue media under my method of recovery after a disaster.

For some reason any does not start my 9100 the drive, even after changing the BIOS boot sequence to insert 1.  My Dimension 4400 starts the CD player without problem.  4400 boots even in the backup media created in the 9100.

I carefully followed the instructions in the Dell knowledge base article "How to configure a Dell Dimension series system to Boot to the CD drive", does not.  I opened the folder and reinstall CD drive connections.  In addition, I am at a loss.

I hope someone can help me get this right.  Thank you.

    After the foregoing:

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and the
correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive

  • How can I configure my computer to boot from the CD Rom drive

I have Windows 7 home version and I have a problem with booting from the cd rom.  I did a cd bootable for a work at home job, but it will not work properly.  It works fine on the desktop of my sister, but not my laptop.  What is happening is the CD loads when I restart my computer, but then it goes to a black screen and just stays there until I have eject the CD.  I can hear the CD running, but I get nothing after the initial splash screen.  I have reset the bios to make sure that the CD-Rom was placed up in the boot parameters.  Any ideas why this CD will not completely loaded?  Thanks for any help you can give.

    Hey Rik,

Perform the steps mentioned below and see if it works.

a: Locate the optical drive that contains your stuck drive. You will see a small hole on or immediately below the disc tray.

    b: Straighten the paper clip.

c: Insert the straight end of the paperclip into the hole and push. You should snap inside the locking mechanism.

d: Gently pull the paper clip. The disc tray will come with it

e: Remove the CD or DVD and close the drawer.

Note: If you are not comfortable to do these steps, please take the help of a Local technician. Alternatively, you can contact Emachines support for assistance.

  • Workstation / ESXi question - force vSphere Client to enter the CD-ROM drive

This week I started to develop a practical system at home for me to learn VMware administration and systems.

I installed ESXi 5 and Windows 7 Workstation 8, which is located in Windows Server 2008 on a server Dell T - 410 have a physical CD/DVD ROM drive.  In Win 7 I have the vSphere client installed and I get successfully to ESXi to manage and install other operating systems, which is where I'm stuck.  Note that, in my computer, I can take my Win 7 OS and in my computer has chosen to "eject" the drive with the OS I want to install.

I am trying to install several virtual machines and have created two "containers" / "stubs" for these virtual machines (a Red Hat and a Win 2008 Server) but cannot get the vSphere Client interface to take control of the drive and pass it to the open Console.

It is quite a matrix in the area of the drive options that is available.  What is the secret to be able to do this correctly, because all the videos I watched on YouTube where they are installing a system shows the OS that they install will ESXi very easily after choosing the CD/DVD-ROM drive... time to enter work station, which is where I'm NOT.

How do I properly set up my CD/DVD-ROM drives in my computer so that ESXi installs the operating system?  I chose each drive letter and the option available but are unable to install the operating system.

    Thank you

    Thomas

André Pett wrote: I think that we have understood this and that is the reason why WoodyZ mentioned ISO images.

Yes, thats why I said what I did, and also because it's been a while since I've run ESXi in a VM and when I did I think the only way that I could install the operating system in a virtual machine when ESXi is a virtual computer was too use ISO images, which, of course, since it's my preference anyway it did not matter.  Now I only mention this because I don't remember for sure and using pictures is really the best way to go anyway.  Also, I don't have time to install ESXI in a virtual machine and go through the motions again.
