How do we keep Photos when I insert a memory card containing images?
How can I prevent the Photos when I insert a memory card containing images?
Mac Pro and OS 10.11.4
In Preferences > General > import: I unchecked that box, but I can't stop Photos when I insert a memory card.
Since most of the people would this need, I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.
After pictures launches uncheck the box to open the Photos whe this devices is connected - it is right of the map in the sidebar of Photos

Looks like you have a card reader malfunctioning.
You can connect the camera to the computer via the USB cable provided with the camera to see if the pictures can be read like that?

How can I keep Photos autostart
whenever I insert a card containing the images, the photo program starts automatically. How can I stop that from happening?
At launches of Photos with the import window opens, uncheck 'Open pictures for this device' below the toolbar. You must do this for each card you use - this flag is specific to the device.
This will save the pictures to launch up to your reformat the card.
If you always format your card to erase, the check mark does not help.
A brute force method to stop any application to launch at all when you insert a memory card is this Terminal command:
This Terminal command to disable auto-start for any photo application, not just Photos. If Lightroom will not launch and you must manually launch the application of your choice.
- Photos of quit smoking and unplug any camera.
- Open a Terminal and paste this command and press return:
defaults write currentHost - com.apple.ImageCapture disableHotPlug - bool YES
defaults write currentHost - com.apple.Photos disableHotPlug - bool YES
- Restart the Mac. It is not necessary, but it worked for me after the reboot. I found this fix in a post by JadedEye
I assigned pictures to another office, so I can ignore it when it launches. I can still import into other applications, if the pictures to open the import.

Action when you attach a memory card
I have updated to Lightroom at Lightroom 6 5. When I attach a memory card containing photos to download to my computer it starts 5 Lightroom and not Lightroom 6. I went to auto-play to change what happens when I attach a memory card, but only Lightroom 5 appears in the list of possibilities, 6 Lightroom does not appear. If I have Lightroom 6 open when I move the card memory, import photos into Lightroom 6. I have a PC with Windows 10. I have 6 Lightroom on my computer, I do not use the cloud. How do activated attach a memory card open 6 Lightroom?
Start with 5 UN-installing of Lightroom, you mustn't she if Lr6 works for you.
Then you may have to change the options of Windows-
Control Panel > default programs > Change AutoPlay settings camera storage/memory card > choose Lightroom 6.

How is it that when I insert my sd card it opens Photos rather then opening as it is implemented
Why is that, when I insert my sd card it opens opening instead of Photos? How can I change this?
If Photos open, when you insert the card, turn off the box "open pictures for this..." ». This check mark is below the toolbar on the left of the window.
The next time you insert the card, pictures won't open (until you reformat the card in the camera).
In opening preferences, select the preference "import: when a camera is connected, open aperture.

I don't know if it's just me being stupid, but I had to update all the settings on my computer because of an overload of download me something horrible and it just all messed up. SO that being said, once I did that I'm more seeing the pop up that I had something in the drive which allows you to download the pictures from my memory card from my camera to my computer and I click on. I need advice because I do not know how to understand anything about this kind of things in Windows 8. Much appreciated! :-)
-ArielOn the desktop, right-click in the lower left corner (Start Menu) and find the control Menu. From there, choose AutoPlay. When it lists what to do when a memory card is inserted, what do you see as a choice? Select the import option and the next time you insert the memory card, it should pop up in the import dialog box.
Other things to check:
- Is that what you were previously on Windows to import? If so, choose this option. If you don't see the option, you may need to register some dll.
- Did you already use library to import? If so, do you have installed Windows Essentials?
If you still don't see the import options, read the next question. It covers the Photo Gallery or Windows configuration as the default importer.

How can I get rid of the error code 0 x 80010108 when you insert the SD card
My SD card is good and I can access images using my computer to start up. I can also see my saved photo gallary pictures. What I can't do, is when I insert the SD card and select images I get the above error message. Help.
I would say that you have two choices,
Photo Gallery of windows open before inserting the sd card,
Then click on import, then insert the sd card.
Or you can click on the Start button and click computer.
Insert the sd card,
He appears as a removable disk that you can right click and click Open,
Then manually, copy and paste the files in a folder or an existing one,
Do not use auto play close the dialog box or use the Windows Explorer instead.
Oops, that's three choice :)

Anyone know how to number the photos when they are exported from LR, so someone can choose the photo they like with a number
Sorry took with the last answer.
More simple form used something like-Sequence_Filename number suffix
If an image as _ABC0987.nef will become 0001_0987.nef and 0002_0988.nef, etc.
Ask your customer to give you the full file name. The suffix indicates the original file.
(I hope that you only need to search in a folder and do not have a bunch of images named the same that would cause problems!)
