How I fixed my USB ports not working not problem. Two ports left side previously does not... HP Dv7
So I do not know what is not "where it will honestly, but put there just to try to help someone else who has struggled with this as long as I did it...» I ended up having my two USB ports on the left side (turned out to be my 3.0 ports) working again when they recognize nothing. I could use the USB 2 on right 2.0 ports, but the transfer rate was terrible.
My answer on another question where someone had a similar problem... good luck!
'Hi. '
Not sure if this will help, but I had the same problem, the two ports on the left did not work on my Dv7. All this time I thought that the USB on the right were my 3.0 ports so I thought that would be nice, but it's been over a year that I initially had this problem and made a bunch of maintenance of the system meant that I would look through it again. In any case, I went to the Device Manager through the computer management tool. I know that you can go straight to the Device Manager, but just give you exactly how I did it. You can search just to start computer management.
So I chose Device Manager in the menu on the left side and it looked like ordinary Device Manager. Went down to Universal Serial bus controllers... at this stage, I watched the action menu on the right and select more actions, opinions and you click Show hidden devices. After that I went through my USB controllers one by one as I had done many times before and checked them, tried the update of drivers, etc... Under the USB controllers Section, I noticed something like xHCI Host controller of compliance Test... I right click it and went into its details, I tried the driver updated and installed the new driver. 2 new USB controllers immediately arises: Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller and root hub.
Switched on a test drive from the right thumb to the left and the computer instantly recognized and installed the driver for the stick.
And that was all... hope it helps even if this is later. "

I had problems with getting my iPod classic 6th generation to be recognized by my computer windows 7. It works very well but all of a sudden stopped working. When I connect the iPod, it says on the product than its 'connected' and is in charge, but does not appear on "my computer" or on iTunes. Now, I supposed that it was a problem with my apple product, but after putting in the store and plug both Mac and PCs, this worked fine, its clear that it is actually a problem with my specific PC.
All software are up to date and I tried stop and start the unit. (Control Panel > administrative tools > services > device mobile apple). The PC also recognizes the iPod randomly once in a while and I managed to restore the iPod to factory settings to ensure that there is no problem with the device itself. As stated earlier that the iPod is not visible in 'my computer', but when "devices and printers", there are two elements relating to the iPod, appearing almost as if it's two separate devices. the first is "apple ipod usb device" on the devices section and "Apple mobile device USB driver" in the section not specified. When I click the first device it freezes the computer for awhile.
I tried to move the ipod to different USB ports that make no difference. However, when I put in a pen memory USB (TDK 4 GB), it initially also put it in unspecified, but with a yellow warning down logo on the left and when I moved my wireless usb key for my keyboard, it didn't work initially. These two seem to have resolved themselves in Device Manager...In my view, there is a problem with my usb ports grateful drivers. Any idea what I need to do?

You must have installed a Windows 7 64-bit driver (if it exists)
for this. Do you have? Otherwise, navigate to the web site of the camera
manufacturer, search, download and install it.Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP

Original title: problem of USB ports:
I have a computer dell laptop inspiron d1420 provided with Windows vista and I have upgraded to Windows 7 ultimate, I noticed that when I plug in a USB mass storage, when I try to remove it, I don't get the safe delete the message and lately when I try to remove it, I keep getting the message He's busy and I can't remove it. I tried the same USB on another PC and I have no problem at all. I connected a printer, USB cable and wondows llok have not the driver or didn't install the printer, he left as a device not specified with the name of the printer, but I can't print. I tried with another PC that is also running Windows 7 ultimate and I have no problem, windows has installed the driver, because I used the same printer and the same cable. What is the problem with my USB 4 ports and how to fix?
Hello
When you get this message while trying to remove a USB, it's basically a lock for this USB device by some process running on the computer. If we know which process is this locking mechanism, we could also find which Service is associated with this problem in the computer.
To check this, you can use a program called Process Explorer. You can download this program from the following link. Once downloaded, extract the contents of the zip downloaded to a folder on your desktop. Inside this folder, you will see a file by the name of procexp , which is the executable for Process Explorer. The download link is:
http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/Sysinternals/bb896653
First, plug the USB to one of the USB ports. Then, once you have the executable to Process Explorer, right-click on it and then click run as administrator. Please allow all guests UAC can occur. Once the Process Explorer is running, please follow these steps to search for processes using the USB at the moment:
1. click on Searchand then click on manage to find them or DLL on the options menu at the top.
2. then in the pop - up which will turn up next, type the drive letter for the USB drive connected to the computer (for example G: or H:) right now and click on Search.
3. he should then display all instances of the process that is using this USB at the moment with the corresponding process ID (PID).
Now, once you have the names of processes using the USB at this time, you can terminate them by clicking on them and then clicking on Manage close. Once this is done, you should be able to eject the USB safely.
I would like to ask the names of processes lock the drive in your computer. This should give us an idea of what we might have to take the next.
In addition, for the other issue that you mentioned, in which the computer does not automatically and correctly detects the printer when it is connected to the computer, I suggest you to check whether or not your computer Plug-and-Play service is set to automatic. Here's how you can do this:
1. press the Windows and the R on your keyboard to get to the top of the run box.
2. type Services.msc in the run box and press enter on the keyboard. Allow all UAC prompts that may coming up next.
3. once it opens the window of the Services for you, scroll down to the Plug-and-Play service and double-click it.
4. in the properties box that will come next, the Startup type should be set to Auto and the Status of the Service must be started. If this isn't the case, please put these values.
5. click on apply then OK, close all windows in the computer and restart the computer once.
Once these steps was performed, please check if the problem remains the same. We know the results.
I hope that these steps raises you in the right direction in order to solve this problem. Don't answer if you still need assistance, we will be happy to be of assistance.

How to get my USB ports working again
I have a hewlett packard presario CQ61-320SA notebook and my two right usb ports stopped working. I am lost without these elements, what can I do can someone help me please, what about Jill Kellett
[Moved from comments]
They are ONLY two USB ports? If this isn't the case, you can well have a hardware failure that would require a repair to a place of authorized service center.
If they are the ONLY two...
Go to control panel > view large icon > Device Manager
Open the Universal Serial Bus Controller section
Right-click on the first occurrence of a controller, improved and select the UNINSTALL option and follow through with the process...
Restart the computer and let to re - install the USB controller...

VAIO USB ports (2 of 3) does not.
Hello.
Vaio 2 + yrs like him. But 2 of the 3 USB ports no longer works all the time. Now it is bugging me.
Not sure what drivers to install as no model no confusion. Back of the PC says PCG - 9111M, in front of said VPCEC2SOE.
I don't want to lose my 3rd work permit, of course.
A link/advice would be appreciated.
Thank you
Charlotte
If some the USB port is working and not others I don't think it's a software/driver problem. Check if your device is bootable (in BIOS with F2) from a USB flash drive and create bootable USB key. USB drivers are included when you install Windows, there is no separate driver for it on our Web site...
