How to specify the names of the icons on the desktop?
How can I specify the names of desktop applications and shortcuts icons so that they appear in alphabetical order when I sort by name?
Here is a partial list of the order of the icons on my desktop windows 7:
The Quicken Premier
WinFF
AbiWord
Command prompt
Cygwin Terminal
Thank you
Paul.
Paul
The situation is there are two files that make up the office.
One is your office users, and the other is Office public users.
When you sort by name, they are classified as two lists.
Some software during installation, installs for all users and put the shortcut in the Public Office.
The best way to accomplish what you want is to ensure that all the shortcuts are in one of the two folders.
Your office is located in C:\Users\*your username user name * \Desktop
The other is in the C:\Users\Public\Public Office, which is a hidden folder

How can I reinstall the my working folder icon and the icon of internet explorer in my desktop
How can I reinstall the my working folder icon and the icon of internet explore on my desk that had been removed in some sort tried to watch in recycle bin bit is not there also tried to restore to an earlier date, but it will not reinstall
Assuming you are using Windows XP (you asked this question in a forum of Windows XP), download TweakUI for XP http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/windows-xp (left column, third item down).
Install and run TweakUI. Click "Desktop", and then select the items you want to have appear on the desktop. Click OK.

I accidentally deleted the process explore on my computer so now I have no task bar and no icons on my desktop. How can I fix?
You cannot remove a process, you probably just stopped it. In the Task Manager (where you have completed the process), click file | New task and in the dialog box that opens type "Explorer" and press ENTER.

My computer is as I said above a desk with the microsoft XP program and is a little less than five years. It has been slow and it dawned on me that I hadn't used the disk cleanup or some defrag for a while, but I clicked on start, all programs, accessories, System Tools was is no longer. I have not been able to access the disk cleanup or defragment option and hope that out there, can someone advise me how to get this feature.
You can run Disk Cleanup and Defragmenter disk since the start > run box by typing the following
Cleanmgr
Dfrg.mscYou can restore all of the 'Accessories' group (including system tools) by following the directions here--> http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Accessories.htm
Or you could just create shortcuts to
C:\Windows\system32\dfrg.msc
and
%SystemRoot%\System32\cleanmgr.exeNote that % SystemRoot % is the directory where Windows. You can use this form or explicit as in the example for the shortcut from the Defrag.

How to free up unused icons desk tops
Hi, how can I release my programs office that I almost never use. Thank you paul.
Hello
Unlike Windows XP, Windows 7 or Vista, does not include a Desktop Cleanup Wizard, which has kept track of your use of the icons on your desktop and offered to remove the unused icons every 60 days.
CleanDesktop is an application portable little freeware that helps you clean up your desktop icons not used in Windows 7 and Vista. This utility is for those who miss the wizard!
On running it, it will scan & detect office items that have not been used within the last 30 days and and the list of people down. You then have an option to remove them.
The unused items are not deleted but moved to a folder on the desktop, namely; C: \Users \username \Desktop \Unused icons. You can also cans also opt to remove unused items directly.
Kind regards.

Why the Desktop Cleanup Wizard brand most used icons used as ever?
No idea why my Desktop Cleanup Wizard marks my most that never used to use icons and offers to delete?
I can do anything except turn off reminders of 60 days?
Hello
Usually, the Office Assistant filter does not remove the icons, they are moved to a folder and you can put them on the desktop if you want. The folder that is automatically created the first time, the wizard removes icons is
C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Desktop\Unused desktop shortcuts. But back to your question:
I put t know why the office cleaner chooses the most used icons on the desktop for cleaning but why don t you disable this feature? To stop the wizard to run automatically 60 days:
1. right click on an empty spot on the desktop and then click Properties to open the display properties dialog box.
2. click on the Desktop tab.
3. click on the desktop to open the desktop items dialog box customize.
4. Click to disable the wizard desktop cleanup run every box of 60 days.
5. click OK twice to close the dialog boxes. Please also check MS Web site that provides this information:

The 'System tools' icon on my desktop disappeared. I used it when I defragmented the computer and disk cleanup.
When I hit 'start' 'Programs', 'Accessories' I have 'System tools' option, but when it is open, the icons are many and unintelliglble for me. There is nothing of cleaning disk or Defrag. How can I get my old icon on the desktop to disk cleanup and defragmentation among other choices?
Thanks for the tips.

I have a lot of shortcuts I need readily available and it is very annoying when they disappear without my wanting to do. I spent hours looking for an answer and I can't change the setting on the maintenance of the system 'clean up unused and shortcuts files' - but some missing I have used very recently - in the last week - so no reason for them to be cleaned - I tink im going to send this back stupid computer and get an Apple!

Hi DianeCosic,
What operating system or version of Windows do you use?
We would need to know that in order to help you better. If you still see the desktop and My Documents on your Start menu, you should be able to recreate the shortcuts by right-clicking on them from there.
In addition, if something has changed on your computer, you can do a system restore to a previous point before the show began.
Please, let us know if we can help you.
Thank you!

Click on the rectangle at the end of the taskbar (to the right of the clock). Or simply press ' Windows & D ' together to minimize all windows and return to the office. It will be useful.
