  Currently, the only way to open psd files in Photoshop touch is the creative cloud. In addition, the layers you created from Photoshop on your desktop will be be flattened when opened with Photoshop touch on your iPad. But you can keep the touch app layers when you open the psdx file on your desktop photoshop.

  I was able to do this by taking a screenshot of my window of lightroom now alt and drag the slider "masking" where I wanted to, but I would like to be able to reproduce this effect in full resolution of the image and without having to use such inelegant solution. I asked my local photography group and, while a lot of people stressed the fact that it is extremely easy to use "curves" to do this, I spent hours looking for and experimenting with the curves and same dialog box never approached to reproduce the effect.

  If it's a standalone Photoshop CS6 (ie you have a serial key) there is no need to connect to the desktop creative cloud application.

  If you have downloaded the 'previous Versions' CS6 creative cloud desktop application so you will need to stay connected on the creative cloud desktop application.

  There is no upgrade path.

  If you buy CS6, be informed on what you get (not better).

  • CS6 is 4 years old.
  • CS6 is no longer supported,
  • CS6 will never be updated, ever.
  • It is 5 versions behind the current 2015 CC.
  • It lacks all the latest bells & whistles found in current versions.
  • But to continue to improve operating systems, subsequently CS6 will stop working in those newer.

  For the money you would spend on CS6, you'd be much better join the creative cloud.

  You have posted in the forum rather than Photoshop or first hearing, but...

  ... I'm afraid, I can tell you that no, you can't buy the current versions of Premiere Pro or Photoshop.  They are only available through the subscription/membership model.

  For the time being, you can always buy CS6 much older versions (you ring to Service customer rather than just buy online however).  However, you should know that this software is no longer being developed and people start to run into problems with the new OS as El Capitan and Windows 10.

  Scott, I believe that I came up with a way for you to make selections within your settings and have prepared an example to demonstrate the method. Much depends on whether this technique, using your spot color and a specimen, will work. If so, you can measure the number of pixels in the selection following the instructions I provided previously. Here goes:

  1. This sample represents the darker brown spot.

  

  2 build a scale of gray similar to this (I can provide one shown here)

  

  3 Edition > fill with your Brown sample more dark and set its blend Mode to color. (When I used the sample in step 1, this was the result.)

  

  4 attach it to your specimen as shown image file here. (I have not colorized that half of the test image to demonstrate the next step only select the sample Brown even if the black & white area has the same tone value.)

  

  5. with the magic wand, a tolerance of zero and contiguous unchecked value, when you click on a box in the balance its corresponding value will be selected in the image. Here is an example. The histogram can then be used for a number of pixels from all selected areas. Repeat for each sample in your settings.
