How is an image in 16-bit grayscale in LabVIEW without IMAQ important?

Hello

I am writing a simple demonstration of Imaging for a camera to infrared imaging IR-160 of Solutions. I do not have IMAQ and unfortunately, there are no funds at this stage. (If the demo is successful, funds may become available.) I have LV 8.5.1, complete edition.

The camera creates 16-bit grayscale images, but the format of the image is not well documented. I know that the image is 160 pixels pixels wide x high 120, that gray values are stored as simple bytes (not ASCII), and that the data format is 16-bit signed words, the most significant byte first.

I attach two sample images (8 bits and 16 bits) and two live test.

I am able to read the image, but instead of shades of gray, everything is blue, and there are artifacts in the upper part of the image.

The camera also creates 8 bits to the pgm format images, but I have the same problems there. (The image of pgm opens well in for example, corel paintshop pro.).

What should I do so that the image appears in grayscale, then save it as a bitmap?

Thank you for your help.

Peter

  • How can I save images in 16-bit grayscale in Labview without IMAQ

Hi, I'm trying to record images in grayscale of 512 x 512 16-bit of the camera for each period of time (eg. every 5 sec) and also display them in the control panel in the corners.

However, I can get a bunch of pictures of bluish and greenish rather than gray ones. Please give me some advice. I really appreciate it.

Please see the attached VI. Thank you.

I would simplify the gray color table code:

Then, you must map the values 16-bit to 8-bit of the display values.  Right now you are just forcing to U8-U16 table which is likely to smudge the highlights.  Instead, you should find the table max and min and scale the entrance so max-> min scales 0-> 255.

    (x min) /(max-min) * 255

Whimsical programs do not use a linear, but it's a good start.

  • How to display images of a DSLR on the iPad without their import?

    Hello

I had a mini iPad and I want to use to view images taken with a digital SLR. I have a Flash to the USB adapter and a Flash of camera SD card reader. I have tried both to display the images, but I can use them only to import images with the photos app. The problem now is that the memory of the iPad is too small, so that I can import only a fraction of the images stored on the SD card of the DSLR. It is very annoying to wait for the creation of thumbnails of images about 500 in order to import only 50 of them, the visualization of this subset, and then throw away them so that the next 50 images can be imported. With a laptop computer or even an Android tablet I can do that in a few seconds, but with an IOS based device it takes forever to just see the images.

I could not find any application that is capable of providing a simple workflow for preview images. There are some applications of cloud based for this purpose, but they are completely useless if you are on a vacation without any internet access trip.

I read that older versions of IOS has provided an API to access images on a USB memory and there were about 150 apps using this API. But for some reason any (business?) Apple dropped of this API and launched all of these apps useful the App Store. Is there any other app available for the iPad or Android tablet is better suited for my desired use case?

    Thank you.

Yes. Airtash allows you to look at the data with a web browser.  Maybe it will show you the images too.

  • Display/save image in 8-bit grayscale

I have a VI that captures an image in grayscale 8 bits (table 1 d of 1500 pixels). It has a 10-byte header that I remove and try to view it.  The problem is that the image is considered to be a RGB.  In addition, the saved image can be opened with an image viewer but is not correct.  The pixel data is missing. How do I get this to display an image in 8-bit grayscale.  I would also like to duplicate the 1 line of the image to about 50 lines data to make it easier to observe.  using a loop and indexing the line only leaves the empty pxmao.

    Bjoles,

You are missing a color table entry to your flatten pixmap block. See extract vi I have attached. Also, I found that building the tables of a loop is a quick way to do it, Labview seems to pre-allocate memory correctly.

  • How to convert U32 matrix 8-bit grayscale image?

    Good day to all,

I got a U32 512 * 512 data table of photomultiplier using the analog inputs of the DAQ card. My question is how to convert this matrix 32-bit to 8-bit monochrome image for display.

I tried the method in this post to convert grayscale image https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-4155 table but the result resembles an outline rather than the actual image. I guess that's because their contribution to flatten Pixmap is 8 bits, but mine is 32-bit. I have a gamma correction to the scale of my data? But how?

I have attached the original image, which is a particle. I have also attached my labview code and the processed image.  Thank you!

Then, you will likely make you own custom conversion then increasing the difference between the brightest and darkest. You could just do 4294963840 the zero and 4293967276 the max and scale up to 0-255

  • How to create an image in 16-bit grayscale of the matrix of values

    Hi all

I'm having a problem of conversion of a series of measures in a specific image. I have a matrix of size nxm (variable n and m), which contains the measurement data. My intention is to transform this matrix into an image to be analyzed later by external software. The trick, however, is that the image must be in the format 16-bit grayscale: grayscale for image processing and 16 bits to ensure that the resolution is not hindered.

I search the Web and still have not found a way of mapping somehow measured values I have in this matrix in pixels (16-bit grayscale ones, that is). I have access to the LabView Full Development System version, but not other toolboxes.

    Hello world

I managed to make it work with the help of people on other forums. The key is to use the IMAQ driver, which gives the screws required to create pictures on 16-bit grayscale (only supported nicely by PNG format apparently).

  • find the angle of rotating an image in 8-bit grayscale

    Hi all

I have an image in grayscale 8 bits of dimension 3969 X 600, the image is slightly tilted. I need to find the rotation angle and apply the rotation before treatment.

Are there transformation features in LabVIEW to find the angle of rotation?

    Need your suggestions people,

    Hello

just calculate the slope of the line joining the two points:

    xDiff = p2.x - p1.x

    yDiff = p2.y - p1.y

    [degrees] angle = atan2 (yDiff, xDiff) *(180/pi)

    Best regards

  • How to record images of 8 bits of a TCP connection with a smart camera

Hello my name is Cris and I try to record images 8-bit generated from a Smart Camera NI 1742, which has a frame rate up to 60 images per second. I want pictures of flow time I need and save each image. I've currently implemented the next VI I found in this article: Images streaming of a Vision Compact to a local AVI system , one of my goals was the next, can save an AVI file and now I can do it. According to this article on the screws flattens the images for data of type string, and sends the data to the local computer (PC) through TCP/IP communication (because data can be stored inside the smart camera).  Then, the Local.vi (shown in the figure), on the computer local Windows, receives the string data, it unflattens back to images and records the images in an AVI file. So my question is how can I proceed to receives the string data and save it directly to files with names like 0001.jpg 0002.jpg, etc., automatically instead of using framework for writing to AVI?. I think to use the IMAQ write string that returns a string that contains the entire contents of the image encoded as an image file and the string can be saved to the file (without unflatten it). How can I change the Local.vi?

Any help, comments help a lot. Thank you.

  • How accidentally convert all my images to 8 bits?

    Hello

Five minutes ago, I checked my image in Camera Raw before import into Adobe Photoshop CS6 wasn't in 16-bit mode.

Immediately after that I imported into Photoshop and it became a document .psd, I checked once more that he was always in 16-bit mode.

Then I created a duplicate layer, selected the sky and created a mask layer from this selection.

    Not much.

NOW I SEE from below, I am in 8-bit mode.

    Why is this?

It is true that ANY MASK I create forces the entire image in 8-bit mode?

    Thank you!

    Screen shot 2013-01-02 at 12.14.32 PM.png

The documents should never spontaneously of course change the bit depth.

Opening a Camera Raw image in Photoshop, the title of the document should not end in '.psd' until a backup (in PSD format). Have you made the steps other than the ones you have described?

Your thread title says "all my images. Do you mean that you have had many 16 - bit documents open in Photoshop and all except one of the inactive tab in your screenshot became mysteriously 8-bit?

Look in the history panel after a doc past from 16 bits to 8 bits. There is an element named "8-bit/channel"?

  • How to change an image in 16-bit 32-bit color mode?

I'm new on this and everything seems foreign.  So, I created an image with a tutorial and realized that I really need a 16 bit instead of 32 bits that I created initially.  Is it possible to change an existing 32-bit image with several layers of a 16-bit image?  The tips are greatly appreciated.

  • Image from 16 bits to 8 bits/RGB

    Hi all

I have been using the clip and save to AVI examples OR but it does not work for me.  My mistake is that my images are 16-bit and the necessary images are either 8 bit/RGB to be converted to avi.

How would I achieve that?  Please see screenshot.

    Kind regards

    Miika

After a bit of a Eureka! now, a solution has been found.

IMAQ Vision module and development as well as other LabVIEW software has not been downloaded.  Downloaded and the vi IMAQ Cast Image (among others) jumped upward and the program now works perfectly.

    Thank you very much!!

  • How to check image resolution

    Hello

Sir, I am trying to see a way to find the resolution of an image, of another way, is the image is 8-bit or 16-bit etc but I'm confused how do. I tried used nor VIssion assistance where I created a histogram, but then to coding, I'm confused how to use this histogram. Impossible to analyze this histogram and couldn't pull anything of this histogram. Could you please help to achieve my goal. Thank you

Here's an example comment without the wizard of vision. I'm sorry, I'm not a big fan of express VIs, and actually I think that it is more difficult to obtain the image Vision wizard type.

    Hope this helps

  • How to read data from 16-bit unsigned IMAQdx?

I was using my firewire camera to take pictures in unsigned 16-bit grayscale and processing of these data in matlab. However, the data becomes incorrect when the integration time of the camera is great. I discovered that the reasons are: 1, IMAQdx decoded data monochrome 16-bit signed 16-bit, which returns a negative value if the amplitude of each pixel is greater than 32768.  2, IMAQdx automatically adds a constant, which is equal to the amplitude of the largest negative value pixel, to all the pixel values, to change the smallest value to zero, but this process ruin the rest of my data and makes them almost irreversible.  I think the only method could solve this problem is to try to do in labview read image form of unsigned data, but I don't know if it's possible, because it is not optional in IMAQdx manual.

    Any suggestion will be appreciated.

    Hi Hosni,

FireWire (especially earlier on) had some ambiguities on the endianness, signed-ness and depth of the pixel data that is returned. IMAQdx tries to take the best prognosis for 16-bit data using specific registers defined by the IIDC and other information she can deduct on the camera. However, sometimes these assumptions are incorrect. If you go to the acquiring of your camera attributes tab in MAX, you should be able to replace all these parameters correspond to what the camera expects its data should be interpreted.

  • Save 12-bit without imaq image

    I saw this http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Store-a-12-bit-gray-scale-image/td-p/566500

and began to worry, because at the beginning, it has been indicated for 12/16-bit gray-scale, you must use IMAQ.

I do not have IMAQ, but I have 12-bit grayscale images generated by ThorLabs camera - what can I do?

... what I have accomplished so far with this:

... is to get completely distorted images.

    Alessandro

    • Use OR-IMAQ to acquire digital analog, parallel, Camera Link cameras; (Free) OR smart cameras
    • Use OR-IMAQdx with USB3 Vision, GigE Vision, IP (Ethernet), IEEE 1394 devices (requires a license)

I don't remember exactly what is included in that (or if you need the vision development module and not the acquisition of vision module), but you should be able to download it and try it
