  You can find this article useful.   I suspect that you will need a new trackpad, but I'm not sure of the requirement of bluetooth of your Mac Mini.

  As long as the built-in trackpad is not interfering with your comments in a way (for example causing unwanted movements of the cursor) I would have thought you could disable 'ignore' and just use the external trackpad.

  Apple does not trade for these items.   Your best option is to sell (on Amazon or eBay, for example) and then buy a new one.   Ask yourself the question that Apple want to do with your old trackpad.
