I don't know about you, but I think 256GB is the largest available
today. But who knows what tomorrow will bring.

And 256 GB flash drives are expensive enough that, at least as the flash
the tiny size of the drive is more important, you may want to consider a
256 GB (or more) external hard drive instead.

  • USB flash drive inviting with message 'write protected '.

Recently I bought a 32 GB usb flash drive. I used it ok until 3 days ago. Now, I get a message saying "write-protected". There is no switch on the device write protection. How to remove write protection.

    Hello

You can remove your usb flash drive write protection using the method below:
    a. open the start menu, in the search bar type regedit, and then press ENTER. This wil open the registry editor.
    b. navigate to the following location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
    Note:
If StorageDevicePolicies registry key does not exist, you must create it manually.
    c. highlight StorageDevicePolicies, and then create a new DWORD called WriteProtect (32-bit).
In the right window, double-click the registration key and set the value to 0 in the value of d.
Data area, and then press the OK button
    e. restart your computer and try to copy files to your USB drives.

    Important note:
Sometimes, this problem is due to two Windows that have been corrupted registry entries. To resolve this problem, you must use the registry editor to remove the damaged registry entries.
However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, proceed as in the KB Article:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/322756/

    I hope this helps.

  • Does anyone has installed ESX 3.5 on a USB Flash drive?

    Hello

I read some comments on how to get ESXi on a USB Flash drive, but I wonder if the same thing is possible with ESX 3.5?  The reason why I ask is that many of our ESX servers are wired directly into our DS/4700 IBM SAN for their data warehouses and we currently have local disks for the operating system itself.  Cost-mindedly, it would be wonderful if we can just install ESX operating system on a flash drive $15 (which would never be deleted you mind) as opposed to hard drives IBM overpriced or the boot-from-SAN.  The thought of having an identical set also to go with our identical to our disaster recovery site hardware is also very attractive. If someone could provide an answer on this, I would be very grateful.  Thank you!

    -John

If you ask if it is possible, yes it's possible.  Incorporated just means it is preinstalled on removable media (usually a flash drive, but it's the same thing).

With regard to the instructions, google it.  There are a LOT of messages.

He failed and prompted the 'Protected disc' message, so my USB Flash drive was considered dead.

  • USB flash drives from the manufacturer, not even identifiable in a unique way

I often buy handle USB flash drives when they are on sale. Readers differ only by serial number. If I have several USB flash drives plugged into the host (LINUX Xubuntu 11.10) I have no way of knowing which drive is which, when I want to connect (disconnect from the host and connect to the virtual computer) at the prompt. Devices simply show the disc by manufacturer name. Also if I have a USB drive connected to a virtual computer and insert a second identical disc it is automatically attributed to this same guest VM, which presents the problem backwards. Can I be sure which drive I delete.

There must be a way to identify devices. Because all operating systems allow discs to be named or labeled could we not have the name of the label or label/manufacturers to identify the USB devices. In the heat of the action to remove the incorrect device could easily result in loss of data.

A feature on your status request is open. Thanks for your good suggestion!

  • When I plug the USB FLASH drive into the PC it does not appear in the computer

I have a USB Flash driver: Team Fusion more 4 GB

Same color and this one exactly.
and when I put inside my computer I hear the BLOOP sound when I insert it and also when I go out, I hear a noise... but when I go to my computer it does not appear...

  • Another corrupt ESXi USB flash drive

I have a USB flash drive as boot ESXi disk get corrupted, I thought it was a fluke, so I threw away the USB key and reinstalled ESXi on a new USB flash drive. Well, after a little more than a year, this flash drive has been corrupted as well as ESXi follow the start-up procedure.

Are consumers just don't required to act as a start-up for ESXi readers forever on the servers of USB flash drives? My actual VMs are on the hard disks on the server so I guess that the USB flash drive was not getting a lot of work too far than go of reads/writes. I know major integrators offer ESXi built in running off some flash internal drive so I assumed that flash was reliable. What is the difference between these types of enterprise flash drives and consumer flash drives? Or it is just a risk for all flash drives and it is preferable to install ESXi for one SSD or HARD drive?

I always suggest installing ESXi on a flash drive of business as sellers to test these players for the highest reliability and performance while consumer flash drives are not tested.

Consumer grade flash drive are low grade MLC (multi-level cell) based provide the alternative and low-cost storage adequate all-in-business level kitsuse flash drive boast of a higher level of performance and more

  • NB100 - How can I reinstall OS from USB flash drive

My laptop TOSHIBA NB 100 has no CD-DVD player.
Operating system is Windows XP Home SP2.

    Operating system won't start.

Laptop start not at all so I can't run any kind of test when I turn it on.

The thank you screen come on it says launch safe mode, the networking of safe mode, safe mode comand prompt or start windows normally. But no matter who I chose, that it does not start it only goes to Windows and looks like its starts but then shows the blue Windows screen & stays there.

So I want to reload Windows from my USB flash drive.
The BIOS boot sequence is the USB HDD - FDD - FD - CD memory.

What are the steps for loading Windows USB flash drive?

If that does not work then I want to connect another laptop with Windows CD in the CD - DVD drive laptop.
Will this work? The laptop will use the Windows CD in the drive of the laptop to load the operating system?
    How to make this connection?

    Hello

You usually have an external USB CD/DVD drive to boot from the Windows XP disc or the Toshiba recovery disc.

But there is a method that allows you to install Win XP using the 2 GB USB key.
This is possible because the NB100 BIOS supports booting from USB key.

    Pease check this Web page:

+ Installation of Windows XP using a USB Flash Drive.
