How to access Windows 8 PC on the Internet with remote desktop connection?

Hello

Can someone tell me how to access Windows 8 PC on the Internet with remote desktop connection?

I'm good with the software and I have used many Microsoft software since the 1980s. So I like Microsoft products, but since they have outsourced their tech support, you can't support quality even if you pay for it. I followed all the instructions in the Windows 8 will help about DRC setting screens, but I can't connect unless I'm on the same home network. Here are the details:

I have a desktop PC with Windows 8 Pro and I have authorized the DRC. I tried two settings in system properties:

  1. Allow connections to this computer remotely.
  2. That allow the connection of computers running Office remotely with authentication NLA.

I also turned on both private and Public Windows Firewall settings > allow an App or feature through Windows Firewall.

I have installation then DRC to my laptop with Windows 8 (standard edition, not the Pro version). I have a DRC using the full name of the computer and other DRC using the static IP address for my ISP Desktop connection.

I use the user account administrator Windows for connections of DRC of the laptop.

I cannot get this to work on the Internet from a location outside my house with another ISP connection. The only way it works if I'm uncomfortable with the laptop using the same network home.

I called Dell tech support and it is always useless and just a more aggravating waste of an hour to talk to their support of technique outsourced in India (who barely even understand English) and then they hang up the phone as it was supposed to be disconnected. I also called Microsoft support and lost more than an hour to speak to their outsourced tech support in the Philippines (and as support of the India, they hang up or 'disconnect' when they cannot answer your question and they go account learn you more about Windows while they do). U.S. tech companies use AMERICANS more for their technical support so their customers can get people who actually care about doing a good job and can actually understand English?

So if someone who knows using Windows 8 for DRC on the Internet has some tips, then it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!

P.S. If anyone is offended by my comments about the ugly, incompetent, stupid providing "technical support" in India or the Philippines - Nevermind! You go ahead and waste hours of your time talking to some Morón in these countries, who barely understands English and then 'disconnects' the call when they know that you realize that they are clueless and have all the answers.

Take a look at no - IP.com or dyndns.com, and then use your host.domain:3389 of no.-ip/dynDNS or run RelaVNc SErver that is running on port 5900 by default.  Server options allow you to change the port as well if necessary.

    Hi all

I need to access my two Linux Vms from the internet but don't know how preinstalled Vmware network is configured in Bridge mode they get internt via dsl on the host pc connection and its dsl mode is configured for PPPOE mode

Thank you for your kind suggestion and solutions

    Thank you for your support

    Ashu

The instructions are router very specific, so your mileage may vary.

On my linksys router, I connect to the management interface, go to the Applications and Gaming tab to configure your port forwarding.

There are a few choice integrated but you can go on the empty area and create your own.

There, type in ssh_vm1, select the external port (it is the port you will use to connect to internet) and then inside port (SSH, it is 22), then IP address internal and check active.

Do the same for the ssh_vm2, and you should be good to go.

Now, you will need to find your external IP address as well to connect to the Web address that was assigned by your ISP.  You can reach a site, like ipchecking.com, and your address is in the right hand corner.

  • I have a problem connecting to the internet with remote access.

Hi I have a laptop Dell Inspiron. I installed Vista and now I am unable to get on the internet. I use the dial upward at home. None of my ISP disc make me on the internet... It gives a message that there is a problem with the hardware. What can I do to fix this?  I had XP before and it worked fine.

    Hello

    Hello

Make sure you have the latest vista drivers for your computer which you can get your computer manufacturers Web site

go to their website and look for a driver and software download section

Enter your model number for the last look drivers vista then download and install

    http://support.Dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=Gen

If there is no vista drivers available, you're out of luck and that the machine was not built by Dell for vista

If necessary, use another computer to download and save = copy to flash drive - transfer and then install them

  • Problems with the work computer remote desktop connection

I used the remote desktop for VPN connections to work for a few years.  My new employer has a Sonic Wall VPN.  My home PC is running XP.  The work computer is Windows 7.  I activated the remote on this computer connectivity.  I can connect to the VPN with a number.  Remote Desktop detects the computer to work without problems as well.  When I try to signon with my valid credentials, I get a message that my ID or password is invalid.  By using the same credentials locally everything works perfectly.  I tried to connect with my user disconnected and connected in the workplace with no difference in results.  Any thoughts there?

    Hi DougH_50,

Your Windows XP question is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the IT Pro TechNet public. Please post your question in the TechNet Windows XP Networking forum.

  • Obsolete entry in the DNS Cache in name of VCHB with Remote Desktop connection

We cannot use remote desktop to connect the virtual name of one of our vCenter Heartbeat.  When we connect we get a message that says "the connection can not be established because the remote computer that has been concluded is not one that you have specified.  This could be caused by an outdated entry in the DNS cache.  Try using the IP address of the computer instead of the name.  We are able to connect by IP address.

Googling for this error comes up with ideas such as time synchronization check (it's good), and the deactivation of safety checks DRC (we cannot - political society).  Using nslookup all forward and reverses two server instances and the virtual name of good sound.  Three other bodies VCHB in our environment work very well as well, but we do know the difference between those and this problematic.

Have anyone of you experience something like this before?  Any ideas?

    Thank you!

    RDC Error.jpg

We had this same problem. It happened only on one of our VCHB, our handle other forums did not have this problem. After having much poking around, we noticed that the name of public virtual/VCHB problem had an entry of computer object in AD, while (most) others have not done. We wondered if it was somehow related to the problem. We checked with VMware support and finally said it would be OK to delete the computer object in AD for the name of virtual\public. We have removed the subject of the AD, waited about an hour, and (somewhat to our surprise) this actually solved the problem - we have DRC in the virtual/public name with no problems.

  • I've just updated firefox to the latest version. I have a network in which access us the server with remote desktop. Now, I can just open firefox on one of the remote terminals or the server. I need to be able to use firefox on all terminals.

I get an error message indicating that an instance of mozilla firefox is already running, close it to continue.

The question already explains the situation. I need all three terminals to use firefox at the same time.

Not had this problem with the previous version.

What happens if all instances use the same profile folder.
A single instance can use a specific profile.

  • I have a hp mini. ICAN conect to the internet with an ethernet connection, but not with my wireless connection

    This just started recently.

    Hi Dennis,

    1. you receive an error message/code while you are trying to connect wirelessly?

    2. don't you make changes on the computer before this problem?

    3. what version of Service Pack installed on the computer?

  • Want to access another computer on Windows 7 using Remote Desktop connection

    Dear member of the community,

I have 2 desktops, one with 10 windows and more with windows 7. Now I want remote access to the computer windows 10 windows 7 without logging on the computer windows 10. Kindly, guide me for the same thing.

    Hello Alice,.

I would like to know some information about the problem so that we can help you better.

The computers are connected to a domain network?

Thank you for details on the issue.

I also appreciate that fact that you want to access 10 Windows in Windows 7 remotely.

With Remote Desktop connection, you can connect to a computer running Windows from another computer running Windows that is connected to the same network or to the Internet. For example, you can use all of the programs, files, and network resources from your computer on your computer at home, and it's just that you are sitting in front of your computer at work.

To connect to a remote computer that computer must be turned on, it must have a network connection, Remote Desktop must be enabled and you must have access to the network to the remote computer (this could be through the Internet), and you must have permission to connect. To obtain permission to connect, you must be on the list of users. Before you start a connection, it's a good idea to search the name of the computer you are connecting to and to make sure that Remote Desktop connections are allowed through the firewall.

I suggest you use the steps in this article and check if it helps.

  • Cannot create the remote desktop connection in two different networks.

Original title: Windows 7 PRO through internet Remote Desktop connection.

Two windows 7 Machines Pro. They want to be able to connect to the main computer (Internet router) when they are away at their House on the other.

It connects via DSL behind a router

    A modem connection cable Roadrunner

The customer has upgraded to pro. Computers aren't workgroup and domain just PC. What would be the best way to have to allow them to connect to the router. I tried the port on the router, nothing helps.

    Hello

Remote Desktop connection uses port 3389 in order to listen to the incoming connection.

When done over the Internet, you will need to forward the port to the IP of the computer.

Alas, a router can send a specific port only to a single computer.

Since you have two computers, you must change the listening port for one of them to a different port number and transfer the new port to the IP Address of the computer.

Let a computer uses the default port 3389.

In the second computer, change the port to another port of your choice, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306759/en-us

Assign static IP to the computers (make sure that it is in the DHCP range).

In the router open port 3389 to the IP address of the computer with the default setting.

Open port you used for the second computer to its IP address.

When you connect, if the connection is a connection by default, he would go to a single computer. When the connection is made with on the second track, he would go to the second computer.

  • Use of material connected to the remote computer during remote desktop connection session?

I use Remote Desktop Connection a lot, and I mean... A lot. In addition to managing workstations without having to leave my desk, I started to run to the House to make use of the desktop computer powerful in the room without having to get up from the couch and laptop.

However, I began to discover that far, I had to connect to the desktop computer to complete a task. An example is the computer that I'm controlling from the living room does not burn a disc. I can go stick a disc in the drive... but for some reason when I'm logged in from the outside, programs can't find the hard drive.

Another thing I just tried... (... and before you think 'kinky'...) Just know that I think 'Security'... lmao), was to see the web cam (Microsoft LifeCam). Unfortunately just like the hard disk, the program says "connect the webcam to the computer.

I guess the reason for this is to integrate the local hardware of controller in the session remotely... but whatever the reason, is there a way for me to operate the hard drive and the webcam to the computer, I'm connected during a session remotely with Remote Desktop Connection?

    Thanks :)
